"I just went for a walk and found cherry trees up ahead. They're a bit of a ways off, so I picked a basketful before coming back to tell you. Cherries are the most expensive fruit in the orchard, so picking them to sell will be the most worthwhile. We can grab our baskets and go pick cherries up front."
Ruby Preston's eyes lit up, and she gave a thumbs-up. "Nicole, you're the smart one!"
Renee Jennings frowned, staring at Naomi Kenway with a condemning look. "We can't pay Uncle Foster, and cherries are so expensive. How can you just pick them from his orchard?"
"What about it?" Naomi Kenway pointed at the basket on Renee Jennings's back. "You think apples and pears are worthless? The production team said we can pick any of the fruit, so I haven't broken any rules. Don't you get on your high horse and judge me."
The director chimed in at just the right moment. "No one should feel guilty. The production team will be paying for all the fruit picked from the orchard separately."
