The victory at Sassan did little to alleviate the crisis in Valuva.
On October 11th, after the break at the end of the ten-day period, everyone was feeling the weary burden of returning to work. It was then that General Garisha, commander of the former Southern Front Army and now responsible for defending the Republic's Capital, knocked on the doors of the National Assembly hall.
"What? What did you say?" The members of the National Salvation Committee and the assemblymen received the news with faces full of shock, snapping everyone to attention.
The general's voice echoed through the hall—steady, powerful, and unhurried. "I believe my meaning is clear. We have detected enemy movement on the north bank of the Laine River. Gentlemen, the time has come to defend Valuva, to defend the Republic!"
