The fire beside them crackled and popped. Billows of heat rolled over with the occasional gust of wind, making them unbearably hot as sweat poured out and soaked their clothes.
"THUD, THUD, THUD…"
The sound of heavy, rhythmic footsteps echoed from the distance as a large group of sturdy men in matching uniforms arrived at the scene, pushing a line of water carts.
"The water in the carts won't last long. Quick, connect the hoses to the river over there."
When the firefighting team's captain and his men arrived at the scene, his expression grew grave as he stared at the raging inferno.
Without any hesitation, he began directing his men to begin their firefighting operation.
Some men aimed nozzles at the ferocious blaze and began spraying water, while another group followed orders, grabbing suction hoses and running toward the distant river.
