"Crystal, no matter what you hear, don't make a sound."
"Mom and Dad will always love you."
...
Screams of agony filled the entire estate.
A wash of red seemed to blur her vision.
"AHH—"
Noelle Young sat up in bed, drenched in sweat, her heart pounding wildly in her chest like a trapped rabbit.
"Crystal, are you okay?" her roommate asked with concern, sitting up in the adjacent bed.
"I'm fine. Sorry for waking you." After calming herself a little, Noelle Young threw back her covers, climbed down from her bed, and took a few sips of water from a cup on the table.
She had that nightmare from her childhood again.
She'd been dreaming a lot lately. 'I wonder if it's because Mom and Dad miss me?'
Her parents, relatives, and the researchers on her father's team had been brutally murdered by a group of people.
If her mother hadn't hidden her under the bed, she would have died with them.
