The second patient Yan Feifan treated this morning was a girl with a short ponytail who looked to be about seventeen or eighteen.
Her left palm had been sliced open by a sharp object, leaving a gash nearly three centimeters long and half a centimeter deep.
Yan Feifan also noticed that both her hands were pale and wrinkled from being soaked in water, and her clothes were quite plain.
What was more striking was the long, old scar on her left cheek that ran across her eyelid.
The scar started at her left brow bone, cut across her left eyelid, and extended all the way to her lower jaw.
It was about fourteen or fifteen centimeters long and almost a centimeter at its widest point.
After finishing the first stitch on the girl's palm, Yan Feifan asked, partly to make conversation and partly to distract her, "How did you get that scar on your face?"
