(Pov godwell)
– Once again you prove that she was right.
Those words stung the back of my ears.
That was the last straw.
Stop smiling like an idiot! Do you think that's funny?
He didn't even avoid the glass of water; he angrily left his blood on his mother's favorite tablecloth.
I grabbed him across the table and pulled him towards me.
I almost forced him to get up from his chair.
– You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?
The fabric tightened between the two of us.
Heresy slowly lowered her eyes to the hand gripping her collar.
Then he looked up at me.
His smile was Mueller in contempt, that look he always gave me.
Disgusting.
Intolerable.
– How could I do that on purpose? You're the one holding me by the collar, aren't you?
he murmured.
– You consider yourself elder and respectable.
I clenched my jaw.
– Don't act pretentious with me, you're no better.
I pushed him violently back against his chair.
But that little jerk immediately started up with me again.
– Is that really all you have?
Those few words were enough.
My fist moved without the slightest hesitation.
The blow came so fast that Hérèse didn't have time to dodge. The impact sent them both reeling against the table, then crashing down onto it with a deafening clatter. Dishes flew, glasses overturned, and everything shattered with a tremendous noise of breaking wood and shattering porcelain.
The room froze for a second but Hérèse gave the association back with a blow to the jaw and gained the upper hand in the fight.
Godwell blocks the blows with both arms crossed in front and delivers a knee strike to his opponent's back.
Hérèse does not react and counter-attacks from below and touches the chin.
This time Godwell delivers a powerful blow that doesn't miss the tender part of the back. Hérèse doubles over in pain and is rolled onto her side, ending up under the table.
Then the door suddenly opens.
– That's enough!
Regina stepped off the train, positioned herself between them, and pulled Godwell behind her.
Hérèse , he curled up on himself, clutching his back in pain.
Other servants immediately rushed over to separate them from the fight.
I stood there watching them all rush towards that big-mouthed baby.
He finally got up and remained for a moment bent over the table, breathless, while someone helped him to stand up.
– your just your mouth
But he smiled at me with satisfaction; I will never understand this sick man; work has truly gone to his head.
I had no interest in wasting any more of my time here, I turned around and went to my room, they only had eyes for him.
I take a deep breath and release all the tension that was gripping my heart, even though resentment still gripped my stomach. I'm sure Mom will judge in her favor again; it's always the same.
