The heavy stone door slowly opened. Several Glue Insect Children stood respectfully outside, waiting for Yang An to emerge.
At first, Yang An could still keep track of the time, but after he started cultivating, he gradually lost his sense of it.
"How long was I in there? What hour is it now?"
Yang An asked the Glue Insect Child before him. Since Mother Divination True Master had said he could command these creatures as he pleased, he wasn't about to be polite.
Yang An didn't know where the Glue Insect Child's vocal organs were. He saw no change in it, yet a voice reached him.
"You have been in the Quiet Chamber for five hours. It is now Noon."

Noon was the period between eleven and one in the afternoon, the height of midday.
Yang An remembered it had been dark outside when he arrived here with Pan Shi and his sister. He hadn't expected it to already be noon the next day.
