Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Godhood

The Heaven-defying Evil King, Moo Shan, remained as cold as ever. But upon hearing this, his lips curved into a faint smile. He gazed calmly at Wangtian, as if admiring something.

"You can't guarantee a single thing."

Across the entire Grand Thousand World, this was the last person who dared to defy him.

"This is an opportunity," Wangtian said with a faint smile. He neither denied nor confirmed the accusation, but what he said was the truth.

If Wangtian failed to become a god, Moo Shan would lose his value. If he succeeded… well, no one knew what that would entail. But Wangtian's promise of protection was certainly of great use.

Seeing Moo Shan remain silent, Wangtian appeared even more patient. "The moment my Seven Veins Reincarnation Technique reached Great Success, I saw the Path of Divinity. But I didn't take that step. Do you know why?"

This was knowledge every Divine Cultivator dreamed of possessing. The path of cultivation was treacherous and difficult; the slightest mistake could lead to failure on the very verge of success. The experience of one who had gone before was undoubtedly the most precious reference of all.

For the Demon God Wangtian to share his experience on the Path of Divinity was simply unimaginable, and the one he was sharing it with was his final enemy.

"Because you were missing half," Moo Shan said. A look of reminiscence and longing, mixed with a hint of regret, appeared on his impassive face.

For the first time since emerging from seclusion, the Demon God's invincible confidence wavered. His eyes blazed with a light that could pierce the very heavens. "How could you possibly know!"

"Because I was missing half as well." A self-deprecating smile touched Moo Shan's lips. "The only difference is, your half can be mended. Mine is a path I can never retread."

Wangtian was finally shaken. Moo Shan genuinely knew. This man had actually seen the Path of Divinity even before he had. It was just as he'd said; a pity that Wangtian could make up for his deficit, while Moo Shan could not turn back.

To defy heaven was, in the end, a transgression.

"And for that, I must thank you. You are the first person I, Wangtian, have felt the need to thank since the moment of my birth."

The Demon God could no longer suppress the joy in his heart. All he had to do was kill his opponent, and he would be able to experience the true essence of his heaven-defying cultivation.

'The so-called Path of Divinity requires one to first follow, then defy. One must follow the heavens to gain power, then borrow that momentum to go against them. Only then can one become a god. From the very beginning, Moo Shan was wrong.'

Moo Shan shook his head. "It remains to be seen who will be thanking whom."

Wangtian knew his opponent had yet to use his Lifebound Divine Sword, but he was confident he could defeat anyone. "I have long wished to test myself against the Heaven-defying Evil God's Silence Sword. To have that wish fulfilled today makes this the happiest day of my life."

Indeed, Wangtian had every reason to be happy today.

A simple Long Sword appeared in Moo Shan's hand. Like Moo Shan himself, it was cold and silent. As he gently stroked the blade, a hint of tenderness softened the Heaven-defying Evil God's stone-like face. For a Sword Cultivator, the sword is life. In the cruel path of an Evil Cultivator, this blade had been his only companion, his only kin.

Similarly, a Long Sword of ancient design materialized before Wangtian. Its blade radiated an unparalleled, domineering aura, as if declaring that in all of heaven and earth, it alone was supreme. This was the Demon God Sword with which Wangtian had dominated the Grand Thousand World: Time.

As both were Sword Cultivators, this battle was inevitable.

VMMMM...

Wangtian lightly flicked his blade, producing a hum that seemed to shake the heavens. "Time, remember this. Your opponent is called Silence."

In this world, Moo Shan was the first and would be the last person Wangtian ever called an opponent.

Sword Qi shot toward the heavens, as if to rip the sky apart. Even the indestructible Elemental Qi Field around Broken Heaven Edge was torn asunder by this astonishing Sword Qi.

The Divine Cultivators gathered leagues away from Broken Heaven Edge turned pale. At that moment, they viscerally understood the gap in power.

The two strongest Divine Swords in the Grand Thousand World were finally about to decide a victor. Wangtian could afford to spare Li Xiaoyao, the Saint Cultivator, because he was a Talisman Cultivator. But when two Sword Cultivators met, only one could survive. Or both would die.

Moo Shan's gaze remained fixed on the Silence Sword. Suddenly, his red hair whipped about as his Elemental Power surged violently. The heavens shook and the earth quaked, as if the world itself would fall silent for the sword named Silence.

The Demon God's eyes also filled with excitement. 'This was the opponent he truly wanted.' Wangtian finally understood why Moo Shan had chosen this place as their battlefield.

For Broken Heaven Edge, just like him, was an existence born of defiance. Here, Moo Shan could indeed unleash his strongest power.

The entirety of Broken Heaven Edge continuously channeled its power into Moo Shan's body. But even with such immense Celestial Power, the Silence Sword remained perfectly still. Like its master, it was restrained and silent, soundlessly resisting all creation.

The power now condensed upon the Silence Sword was enough to bring about a new Creation of Heaven and Earth.

The Divine Cultivators surrounding Broken Heaven Edge subconsciously began to shrink away from the direction of the Sword Qi. It was, without a doubt, a response born of instinctual terror.

Who could have imagined that the Heaven-defying Evil God's power was so immense? It had absolutely surpassed the limits of Demigod Power.

Gradually, Wangtian's expression grew grave. The Time Demon God Sword in his hand did not hoard power like the Silence Sword; it simply remained aloof, standing proud and above the world.

Moo Shan's eyes shot open. "The Celestial Dao is unjust! My destiny is to defy the heavens!"

BOOM!

The Silence Sword descended like a colossal Divine Sword, causing the faces of the watching Divine Cultivators to turn ashen. Even with their combined power, they could not have hoped to block such a strike. 'Could it be? Is Moo Shan really going to defy the heavens and alter his destiny?'

And yet, at this moment, the most brilliant smile blossomed on Wangtian's face. He clearly appreciated the strike, a look of sincere admiration mixed with regret. "If heaven had feelings, it too would grow old. The thousand Great Daos are but weathered by change—for Time is pitiless."

The Time Demon God Sword seemed to slash out from another world. Silent and without a trace, it was no longer bound by the laws of this realm. Before its arrogant might, the power capable of the Creation of Heaven and Earth seemed fragile. How could a mere ant defy a god?
