Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - The Journey Home

I could not believe I did that.

I am wide awake now. I hurriedly sat up and glanced at Lion, who is sleeping peacefully by my side.

Last night's activity is still so fresh in my mind that I can feel heat rising to my face.

I liked it, though.

I stretched my arms and yawned. I feel like I've been sleeping for a long time.

Of course, this world's day and night cycles are much longer than Earth's.

My throat suddenly felt scratchy, so I got out of bed, looking for some kind of liquid to quench my thirst. I saw a vial of water and drank it and now, I don't feel thirsty anymore.

I want to take a bath.

My body still feels hot after what happened last night.

I decided to go outside, but I was about to open the door when Lion suddenly hugged me from behind.

Now I'm feeling even hotter.

I let out a yelp when he suddenly swept me up into his arms. He laughed, nuzzling my neck and gently biting it.

His voice sounded lower than usual when he asked me where I was going. His eyes deepened in color and his grip on me started to tighten.

I told him shyly that I wanted to take a bath since I was feeling hot.

Though not that kind of hot.

He smiled at me affectionately and a bathtub materialized out of thin air. It slowly began to fill with a liquid that smelled pleasant to my nose.

He placed me on the floor and started to undress me. I heard him take a deep breath as he slowly removed my clothes.

I hurriedly hopped into the bathtub before he could do anything else.

Ooh, the liquid feels so good!

It's warm and soothing against my skin, smelling like flowers mixed with herbs.

Lion stared at me for a while before clearing his throat. Then, he started to remove his shirt.

What the..

What is he planning on doing?

Fortunately, at that moment, Puma suddenly walked in.

She sniggered as she asked us if she's interrupting something while Lion looked at her with disdain.

She then became serious and told Lion that a crowd of inhabitants had flooded the clinic, requesting that I help them with their eye problems.

Word had gotten around that I am some sort of special eye healer.

She added that she needed his help because a couple of troublemakers had tried to fight with Sly and Ghost and chaos had broken out on the ground.

She added that it will be more troubling if they transform into their other forms.

Lion snapped as he put his shirt back on, that they better behave by the time he get there.

He nuzzled my ear before heading out.

Puma guffawed and then helped me bathe.

She blurted out, while shuddering instinctively, that she's thankful that she's not on the receiving end of Lion's wrath.

She dressed me in less revealing clothes this time, though they were still revealing compared to what I used to wear on Earth.

She hummed a tune as she combed, braided and decorated my hair.

Then, she placed a berry in my mouth and told me to bite. The juice was very sweet.

She explained that the berry juice would provide a lovely reddish tint to my lips.

Ah. Like a natural lipstick.

Puma looked pleased with my appearance and asked if I was ready to go.

I nodded

....

Oh. My. Gosh.

So many creatures were crowded inside the hut!

Puma's face showed her distress. I thought for a moment and asked her if she could tell them to form a single line so I could see them in order.

She gushed, telling me that I'm a genius while hurriedly obeying.

We were busy for a long time.

Puma handled the other patients while her mate acted as our secretary.

Her offsprings were suddenly on their best behavior and were quite helpful, acting as assistants and helping me communicate with the creatures that didn't speak.

Lion appeared just as I was about to ask one of Puma's children to look for him.

I needed help making eyeglasses.

Ooh, I should start designing frames soon!

Most of the eye problems were easy to handle. Nearsightedness is very common here, which isn't surprising since they are less exposed to natural light.

Some had increased sensitivity to sunlight, so I designed this world's first lenses with UV protection.

Sorry, original designers.

A few creatures had serious eye problems. I don't know their anatomy yet, so I provided temporary solutions just to alleviate their symptoms.

They were extremely grateful.

I plan to study their anatomy soon to help them better and design improved equipment.

Lion was busy turning my designs into reality. He seemed to enjoy the work. He was in a better mood and became quite cheerful.

He loves making new things.

...

I felt exhausted by the time we finished with the last patient. I lost count of how many creatures we treated today.

Puma's offsprings fell asleep on the floor.

Puma and her mate picked them up and carried them home. Puma happily told me that we earned quite a bit and that she planned to use her share for a vacation with her mate.

She looked at him seductively. I get the feeling I'll be seeing more offsprings from her soon

....

We waved goodbye as we flew toward the treetops. Sly and Ghost were already waiting for us.

Pinky was there too and I noticed he was getting taller.

As we emerged from the thick canopy, the moons looked more dazzling than usual.

Sly transformed into his dragon form and we all climbed onto his back.

He held Pinky in his claw and unfurled his wings.

Lion told me to hold onto his back since I was sitting behind him. Ghost assured me of my safety from his spot behind me.

Then, I felt Lion's tail curl around my waist.

With a dramatic roar, Sly flew into the sky.

I felt scared and closed my eyes, tightening my grip on Lion. Ghost poked my back and told me to look at something. I begrudgingly opened my eyes and what I saw was simply mind-blowing, something the human mind can barely comprehend.

This world is beautiful.

I saw mountains that floated and others that rose from the ground. All kinds of creatures flew near us through colorful clouds.

The forest seemed endless until I saw lights twinkling in the distance.

Then, buildings taller than any mountain on Earth came into focus. Clouds partially veiled them and I could faintly see a river flowing through the mist.

The wind felt cool on my skin.

I'm glad Lion changed my clothes before we left, or I definitely would have gotten sick again.

He wrapped his cloak around me, making me feel warm.

It was an exhilarating feeling.
