Chapter 1 - Resurrection

The night grew deep, and the darkness brought fear and despair. Aside from the crimson full moon in the sky, there was not a trace of light. It was like a gigantic eye, watching over this world shrouded in darkness.

A hazy white mist drifted through the eerie cemetery. The crimson full moon hung high in the sky, exuding an unsettling aura. Its strange light spilled over the graves, making the outlines of tombstones and statues even more distinct.

Before a certain tombstone in the cemetery, a rather pale and slender hand burst forth from the soil, followed shortly by another. The entire process took less than five minutes.

With a forceful push from those hands, a figure climbed out of the earth. He had well-defined features, a tall and slender build, with jet-black hair and brown eyes. His entire body was smeared with dirt, his face grimy, yet his eyes alone were clear and bright. He glanced around, his gaze revealing confusion and bewilderment.

If anyone had witnessed this scene, they would have been scared out of their wits, perhaps even fainting on the spot.

Suddenly, an icy gust of wind swept by, making him shiver uncontrollably. Only then did he realize he was wearing nothing but a thin white shirt, and the temperature was abnormally cold.

"Where... am I? Wasn't I in the hospital? How did I end up here? Could I really be dead?"

These questions flashed through his mind like lightning. But the one clear thing was that he could vividly remember simply falling asleep in his hospital bed, only to wake up and find himself inside a coffin. Anyone would...

be unable to accept it.

Lin Chen struggled to understand why he was in a grave when suddenly, an intense throbbing pain shot through his head, as if someone had swung a thick wooden club and struck him hard.

Pain!Such an intense headache!

"What's happening to me? Why? There are unfamiliar memories in my mind... Whose memories are these?"

These fragments of memory abruptly surfaced, slowly unfolding within his mind.

Luis Brown, a native of Mills City in the Kingdom of Tustan on the northern hemisphere's Gaia continent, and also an employee of Hallny Biological Research Company...

Hallny Biological Research Company, founded by Hallny in Mills City in 1432. Its research focuses on life evolution, achieving immortality, and developing various miraculous biological agents for foreign trade.

His father was a petty officer in the Royal Navy, who died in the colonial war between Tustan and Lunlight. Luis left the pension money for his family.

His mother was a believer of the "Moon Goddess" and passed away from illness a month ago.

He still has an older brother and a younger sister, now living in a two-bedroom apartment.

The family's financial situation is barely manageable, thanks to the pension Luis left behind, which supports the two siblings' livelihood.

"Is this the host's memories?" Lin Chen rubbed

He rubbed his temples, and his breathing gradually steadied, though the pain still hadn't subsided.

The pain lasted for five minutes before Lin Chen finally felt much better. He struggled to his feet, his gaze lifting to the blood-red full moon overhead.

"Strange, why is the moon red? And I can faintly sense an unsettling, heart-palpitation-inducing aura from it." As Lin Chen observed it carefully, his vision suddenly blurred, as if veiled by a thin mist, making everything appear hazy and indistinct.

When he averted his gaze from the full moon, his vision gradually returned to normal. "That was close. I just took a look and my vision blurred. It seems I shouldn't casually stare at that crimson full moon next time."

"Where should I go now? I can't just go home, can I? And the original host's body doesn't have a single coin on it. I can't just wander around and become a homeless person!"

"No, absolutely not. I have to figure out a way to solve the problems of money and identity."

Lost in thought, Lin Chen walked through the eerie and gloomy cemetery. After three minutes, he came to a halt, his eyes fixed on the tightly shut wrought iron gate, his expression turning complicated.

"The gate is locked, but I really don't want to spend the night in a cemetery," Lin Chen muttered subconsciously in his heart.

He glanced around, searching for any other exit. Finding none, except for the surrounding waist-high iron fence, he realized

"It seems this is the only way." Lin Chen let out a resigned sigh. His plan was to climb over the iron fence, but seeing the spikes on top, he hesitated slightly.

"I have no choice but to go for it." After an internal struggle, Lin Chen approached the fence. He took a deep breath, gripped the iron bars tightly with both hands, and began pulling himself up. His body swayed in the air as he continued to climb with effort.

Finally, he reached the top of the fence, carefully maneuvered over it, and dropped down onto the ground on the other side.

Lin Chen tidied up his clothes and hair, making himself look presentable and ensuring he didn't appear out of the ordinary, which could easily attract unnecessary trouble.

Now, he needed to seriously think about how to solve his living situation. Without an identity, would he have to live without one? Going directly to the police station was certainly not an option. Based on his observation of the original host's physical condition, the time of death was within 24 hours.

There should still be some hope. According toBased on the original host's memories, Lin Chen discovered that the identity registration system in this world was relatively simple. In particular, one's household registration information would only be canceled if the reported time of death exceeded twenty-four hours.

In other words, this system was implemented to prevent someone from being mistakenly buried while in a state of suspended animation.

With this information in mind, Lin Chen quickened his pace toward home.

The blood-red full moon still hung high in the night sky. Its light, thick as fresh blood, dyed the earth a deep crimson, as if the entire

world was immersed in a bloody atmosphere.

Moments later, Lin Chen left the cemetery grounds and eventually reached a cobblestone street.

Dim oil lamps lined both sides of the street, their faint, yellowish light swaying in the still air, barely illuminating the outline of the cobblestone path.

These oil lamps had an antique design, their lampshades bearing marks of age. The flames danced on their wicks, flickering unsteadily.

Yet, not a soul was around. The dimly lit street was filled with an eerie quietness and strangeness

The atmosphere weighed heavily on him. As he walked along the street, his heart was filled with anxiety and unease.

Lin Chen knew clearly that in this world lurked eerie anomalies that could possess corpses. If the original host's family saw him alive again, they would likely mistake him for being possessed by a monster. Therefore, he had to come up with a reasonable explanation to prove he wasn't possessed.

"Fortunately, within the original host's memories, there was information about this world—the eerie anomalies were just one part of it. Hah, anomalies? Perhaps…"

"I'll never encounter that in my lifetime. What's more, I don't even know how the original owner died. How could I possibly have the mind to get involved with those things?"
