165 Ancient gods are about to descend, vying for the source of all laws.
"Hi! My name's Zhu Zhuqing, I'm a Spirit Tamer too." The boy offered his right hand.
"Chu Feng here. So, what exactly is Spirit Taming?"
"Ask your question or get lost." Old Second Song suddenly exploded, smashing tables and chairs.
Chu Feng ignored the tantrum and kept questioning the boy, "Is he your father?"
"No idea."
"Then what are you doing here?"
"He's my foster father."
"Looks like a madman, though."
"I think so too, but once I turn eighteen I can leave."
"Why?"
"It's the deal my foster father and real father made—today's the day."
"Back to business—how do I get to Ten Thousand Monster Forest?"
"SCRAM!" Old Second Song raged again, ending Chu Feng and Zhu Zhuqing's chat.
Chu Feng stood rooted, utterly bewildered.
Outside, a far denser aura of spiritual energy crept closer, surpassing anything Chu Feng could sense. A tiny village hiding such an expert?
"My real father's here!" Song Liu cried excitedly.
Old Second Song collapsed where he stood, grief etched across his face.
Clad in black-and-white iron armor and a heavy greatsword on his back, the tall figure walked without stirring a speck of dust. Spiritual energy cloaked him from the villagers' sight; he seemed transparent, yet his aura blazed.
"Brother Song, the eighteen-year promise is fulfilled. Will you still refuse to return to Tianyun City with me?" His resonant voice carried overwhelming authority.
"I'd rather live out my days here. I don't want to remember the war." Old Second Song's voice cracked.
"This is my worthless son; who is his peer? Another cultivator, it seems." Suspicion laced his calm tone.
"I'm standing right here—am I invisible?" Chu Feng muttered, annoyed.
"Apologies. Besides my son, your body is far too frail."
"Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
"I am White God Path, Lord of Tianyun City."
His arrogance grated on Chu Feng, yet he dared not strike; one glance could turn him to ash.
Only a fool eggs a boulder.
"Ah yes, I heard your name outside—Chu Feng, headed for Ten Thousand Monster Forest. Let's make a deal." White God Path spoke as if the thought had just occurred.
"What deal?"
"Clear the forest and I'll name you Great General." He smiled.
"We're total strangers!"
"You know my son, and he likes you—how is that strange?" His excuse sounded almost reasonable.
"Be on your way; I've work to do." Old Second Song rose and began tidying the wrecked room.
Zhu Zhuqing pulled a face at Chu Feng, then vanished behind White God Path.
A dagger was left on the wooden table, the word "Heaven-Mandate" etched upon it.
"Kid, today widened your horizons, didn't it?" Old Second Song chuckled.
"I only asked for directions—what on earth was all that?" Chu Feng sighed.
"Tianyun City is one of the Six Great Dynasties—seeing its lord is karmic luck piled over lifetimes."
Clearly Old Second Song revered White God Path; Chu Feng's new goal formed instantly—he would become a city lord.
Old Second Song rambled on, half to himself: "Back then I followed the lord through countless battles. Passing this village, he entrusted me to raise his newborn son."
So that's how it was!
"Every birthday Zhu Zhuqing had, the lord visited. Last year he became city lord, so taking the boy back was natural. Impatient little rascal—always wanting to leave, and now he's truly gone."
Old Second Song looked forlorn; Chu Feng could only sigh and turn to leave.
"You asked what Spirit Taming is. All things hold spiritual energy. Humans cultivate into Spirit Bodies; beasts with spirit become Spirit Beasts. Spirit Taming channels that energy to break your limits."
Old Second Song's rare explanation hooked Chu Feng instantly.
"Sir, please teach me!" Chu Feng's eagerness blazed.
"I'm just a wood-chopper. Want to learn? Trek through Ten Thousand Monster Forest—if you meet Spirit Tamers, maybe you'll pick it up."
He laughed heartily, clearly teasing—Spirit Tamers entered the forest to test themselves, but most never returned.
"Fine, I'll find Zhu Zhuqing and have him teach me." Chu Feng feigned indifference, though Zhu Zhuqing weighed heavily on his heart.
"I'll teach you—if you promise Zhu Zhuqing will visit me, and since for you the forest will be child's play."
Whether joke or praise, Chu Feng finally got what he wanted.
They found an open space; Old Second Song perched on an earthen wall, muttering nonsense.
"Stop chanting—just teach me!" Chu Feng burst out impatiently.
"Focus!"
"Sit!"
"Will!"
Spiritual energy swirled around Chu Feng like wind, scorching like flame, then freezing cold.
Energy rampaged unchecked; Chu Feng realized why his strength sometimes failed—most of it never obeyed him.
"Find your own Spirit Body; circulate energy through every part, then keep it from leaking. Once you're brimming, you're done."
Chu Feng thought it simple—he had both an inner elixir and two-hundred-thousand corpse spirits; he only needed to draw it out.
Gradually a duplicate formed inside him, merging with his flesh—his Spirit Body.
Old Second Song stared as Chu Feng blazed crimson, black flashes crackling within.
"Extreme Spirit Body… impossible! It hasn't appeared in tens of millennia—this can't be real."
He kept muttering "impossible," while Chu Feng memorized the term: Extreme Spirit Body.
According to Old Second Song, Spirit Bodies include Heaven, Earth, Martial, Dao, Extreme, and a dozen more; Extreme Spirit Body is a post-ascension body only immortals should possess.
