Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Teaching Magic

The next day.

Weston put on the new clothes Zeeself had bought the previous night and walked into Red Lizard.

The saying "Clothes make the man" was no joke.

After changing into new clothes, Weston looked completely revitalized.

Even the dark circles under his eyes, caused by staying up late practicing Letter Magic, became inconspicuous.

Upon entering the guild, his handsome appearance immediately drew teasing from a group of middle-aged men.

"Yo, our Young Miss's child groom is here!"

"Hahaha... Be careful what you say, or the Master might beat you up later!"

"What's there to be afraid of? Isn't this guild running entirely because of us?"

"Eh? Doesn't Weston like Mavis? I often see the two of them together, and their statuses match quite well..."

"Come on, between the Guild's Young Miss and a helpless orphan, is there even a need to think about who to choose?"

"Hey, Weston! If you can capture Young Miss Zera's heart, you might inherit Red Lizard in the future and never have to worry about food or clothing!"

For a moment, all sorts of gossip and roaring laughter filled the guild.

Unbearable to listen to!

"Drunk out of their minds early in the morning, and making such jokes about children. The people in this guild are truly a disgusting bunch of scum!"

Weston muttered a complaint under his breath, then walked to a corner. While envisioning when he could establish "Fairy Tail," he quietly waited for the arrival of Young Miss Zera.

Just then, a small figure walked out of the kitchen.

It was Mavis.

She wasn't wearing the new clothes Zeeself had bought her, but her original old clothes. Holding a rag in her hand, she was slowly walking towards a table messy with cups and plates, preparing to clean up the dirty dishes left after eating.

"Mavis?!"

Weston was stunned and immediately stood up and walked over.

"What are you doing?!"

"Didn't the Master say yesterday that you were to be Zera's follower with me and didn't need to do these chores anymore?"

Mavis looked hesitant, glanced at the middle-aged men in the guild, and said dejectedly, "It doesn't matter. I'm idle right now anyway..."

Who would look for work to do on their own?!

Weston immediately understood the reason.

It must be these drunkards forcing her to do it!

Damn it!

To bully a little girl whose parents were both dead and who was burdened with debt like this, these scum truly deserve to die...

Blue Skull, hurry up and come!

"Don't do it. Let them do this kind of thing themselves!"

With an unhappy face, Weston snatched the rag from Mavis's hand, threw it fiercely onto the table, and then pulled Mavis by the hand into the inner room.

"Go, change into your new clothes. Zera will be here soon."

When Weston came out again with Mavis, Zeeself and Zera had already arrived. The middle-aged man who had been named last night to replace Mavis in doing chores was silently sweeping the trash off each table.

Weston didn't go over to complain to Zeeself, nor did he walk up to that man to mock him and vent anger for Mavis.

Because he knew that even if he said something about this matter, no one would care.

The key was for Mavis herself to toughen up!

And the best way to make her character no longer weak was...

Half a day later.

After Weston and Mavis escorted Zera to the school and helped her garner envious and admiring gazes from her classmates, the two of them arrived at a clearing in the woods.

"Mavis, starting today, come learn magic with me!"

Eh??

"Learn magic?"

"Me?"

Mavis had a strong interest in learning magic.

Because when her parents were alive, they often told her stories about fairies and magic.

Mavis liked fairies, so naturally, she also yearned for magic.

"You mentioned this yesterday too, but how exactly are we going to learn?"

"Find someone to teach us!"

"Find someone? Who? The Master?"

Weston sneered and shook his head. "How could a guy like that teach well... No, how could a guy like that possibly teach us magic?"

"The teacher I'm looking for is a much more impressive figure!"

Saying that, Weston opened the Super Archive operation interface and once again initiated a video call to Elefseria.

After connecting...

"Please, Senior!"

"Please teach us the method to awaken magic power!"

Having helped once, there would be a second and a third time.

With the attitude that herding one sheep is the same as herding two, the old Law Dragon agreed to Weston's request.

Unlike Weston's situation where he awakened entirely on his own, for Mavis to learn magic, she had to start from the most basic magic power perception.

Twenty minutes later.

"Teacher, I seem to feel the existence of magic particles."

Mavis's talent for magic was stronger than both Weston and Elefseria had anticipated.

In less than an hour, she successfully condensed magic power and awakened her own magic.

"Creating illusions."

"My magic is creating illusions!"

Awakening magic clearly made Mavis very happy, and she couldn't wait to demonstrate it on the spot.

She closed her eyes tightly, and when she opened them again, a cat appeared in front of her.

The next moment, the cat changed into a dog, then into a fish and a bird, and finally transformed into a little fairy with wings.

The little fairy was only the size of a palm and held a golden magic wand. She smiled at the two people on the ground, then flapped her wings and flew freely through the forest, leaving specks of starlight along the way.

Mavis happily chased the fairy through the forest, letting out hearty laughter: "Weston, Teacher, look quickly, it's a fairy!!"

Seeing this, Weston felt both helpless and amused: "Yes, I see it. It's a very beautiful fairy."

In comparison, Elefseria's evaluation was much more professional: "A very realistic illusion. Even the details are exquisite, and there are no signs of collapse, which shows the magic power is quite stable. To have such an effect on the first attempt..."

"Weston, this young girl's talent is not inferior to yours at all!"

"Hehehe... Is that so? That's good then."

Having finished teaching Mavis magic, Elefseria then showed concern for Weston's magic.

"By the way, Weston, how is your consideration for combat magic going? Did the Letter Magic I sent you last night come in handy?"

"Of course!"

"I have already decided on the script I want to use."

Weston then told Elefseria his decision, but he didn't mention the fact that he "proficiently mastered thousands of Chinese characters."

"By the way, Senior."

"Although Mavis's Illusion Magic is exquisite, it doesn't look like magic that can be used for combat. Do you have any suitable recommendations?"

Hearing this, Elefseria pondered for a few seconds.

"Magic suitable for Mavis..."

"Perhaps you can consider the legendary 'Lost Magic'!"
