Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: Goofy Garp

"It's called a Pokemon. A Flying-type Pokémon. It's still in its juvenile stage right now, but once it grows up, it can reach several meters tall. When that happens, it'll be able to carry people and fly!"

Seeing how Nojiko could not put it down, Amon smiled as he explained.

"If you don't like the name, you can give it a nickname yourself."

"Pidgeot" was accurate and proper, but it did not sound especially cute.

"Then I'll call you Tangerine from now on. Tangerine, so good!"

Nojiko also felt "Pidgeot" was not pleasant to say. After thinking for a moment, she decisively gave it a new name.

"Bi-bi-bi…"

"You like it too, right? That's great. Tangerine is so well-behaved!"

After forming a contract with Pidgeot, Nojiko could communicate with it to some extent. She gave it the new name, and when it did not reject it, she immediately started calling it Tangerine.

Gaining a pet all at once made Nojiko happy. She practically bounced in place, unable to stay still.

Her lively excitement stood in stark contrast to the quiet crowd around them.

The villagers simply could not understand how Amon possessed such miraculous items. Whether it was that pale yellow cannon or this fierce-looking bird, everything felt unreal to them.

After handing the remaining items to Nojiko, Amon leaned back and closed his eyes, resting.

Nojiko, meanwhile, eagerly shared her joy with Bellemère. The two of them kept stroking Pidgeot's feathers.

Being petted by two people, Pidgeot closed its eyes, looking thoroughly pleased with itself.

Amon estimated the Marines would still need some time to arrive, so he let the Cocoyasi villagers disperse first.

As for those Marine soldiers, Amon restricted their movements.

They also knew they could not beat Amon, so they did not dare act recklessly. They only wanted to wait for the Marine Headquarters reinforcements to arrive and rescue them.

"N… no, this is bad!"

"Th… the Marines are here!"

Just as Amon lay on the chair and was about to drift off, the villagers he had sent away earlier spotted a massive Marine warship docking at the harbor.

They sprinted toward the village market at full speed, shouting frantically as they ran.

"Quick, tell Mr. Amon, th… the Marines are here!"

"What?"

"How can it be so fast?"

Hearing the distant cries, the villagers standing on the street widened their eyes, faces going pale.

A young man then rushed into the market area and shouted toward Amon, who was lying there.

"Mr. Amon! Mr. Amon! The Marines are here!"

"Hm? Interesting. They came pretty fast."

He immediately stood up from the chair.

"Mr. Amon, hurry and hide!"

Seeing that Amon had gotten up but showed no sign of leaving, the villagers urged him anxiously with good intentions.

Amon did not reply. He simply turned his head and looked toward Nojiko, who was still playing with Pidgeot at his side.

After hearing that the Marines had arrived, Nojiko's expression tightened with worry.

Seeing that she was nervous, he smiled brightly and spoke gently.

"Don't be tense. I got plenty of tricks. Besides, not everyone in the Marines is a bad person. The ones coming this time should be people who understand reason."

"Mm."

Nojiko nodded hard, forcing herself to relax. But no matter how brave she tried to be, she was still just a child.

And the one she worried about most was Amon.

She did not want to see him taken away by the Marines just because he helped Cocoyasi Village.

Belle-mère, standing nearby, moved her lips as if to speak, but in the end she could not get a word out.

She knew Amon probably would not listen to her even if she tried to persuade him. And honestly, what he said made sense. The Marines were not all villains, there were good people too, likely far more of them.

Still, she had not expected him to say something like that even at a moment like this.

While the villagers were reporting the situation to him, the Marine warship had already reached Cocoyasi Village's port.

The moment they came ashore, Garp and Sengoku set off at once, charging straight toward the market.

They had already activated Observation Haki the instant they landed, so they immediately discovered Amon's position. There was no need to ask villagers for directions.

Both Garp and Sengoku were hot-blooded types. Their speed was terrifying, so much so that the soldiers behind them struggled to keep up.

Before long, the two of them appeared in front of Amon together, almost at the same instant.

Belle-mère stared at the sudden arrival of Garp and Sengoku, her mouth falling open in shock.

She never imagined that Amon killing a single Marine major would bring two top figures from Marine Headquarters.

She had thought, at most, a normal Vice Admiral might come.

This made her worry even more about Amon's situation.

Unlike Belle-mère's anxiety, the subordinates of that Rat Major were also stunned when they saw Garp and Sengoku arrive, but their shock quickly turned to wild excitement.

With these two legends here, they were definitely safe!

No matter how powerful Amon was, surely he could not defeat Garp and Sengoku, the two legendary figures of the Marines.

After all, these were the men who had fought down the Rocks Pirates, who had gone toe-to-toe with monsters like Shiki the Golden Lion.

They thought Amon would be terrified the moment he saw them.

Instead, Amon stretched lazily and spoke in a relaxed tone.

"Yo, you came pretty fast. Didn't expect two big shots to show up together. The Marines are really giving me face, huh?"

In truth, Amon had expected one of them to come.

"Hahahaha! Amon, long time no see!"

Garp had a good impression of Amon, especially since Amon had given him Aikido. He immediately burst into laughter and greeted him like an old acquaintance.

"Oh, right. Makino asked me last time to bring you some booze… but I forgot to bring it…"

"Garp! Pay attention to your position!"

The moment Sengoku saw Garp acting like an old friend, chatting with Amon the instant he arrived, his brows knit tightly and irritation flashed across his face.

"Hahaha, alright, alright, I got it."

Hearing Sengoku's reminder, Garp scratched the back of his head awkwardly. That goofy, carefree attitude was enough to make Sengoku's goat beard practically stand on end.
