"Mr. Amon, is that… a boat?" Everyone stared at the watercraft, wide-eyed and curious.
In the seas of this world, no one had seen anything like a jet ski.
"Uh, this thing's called a water scooter—sort of like the Waver from Sky Island. It skims over the surface and goes really, really fast."
Seeing their astonishment, Amon remembered that, right, in the One Piece world there aren't exactly jet skis everywhere, so he patiently explained.
"Sky Island? And what's a Waver?"
That only made the faces around him even blanker.
"Sky Island… you mean those legendary islands in the sky? Mr. Amon, Sky Island is real?" Zeff's eyes sharpened at the word. The others had no clue, but he'd heard rumors back on the Grand Line. He'd just always filed it under tall tales—how could islands float in the air?
But the way Amon said it, he'd clearly been there.
"Sky Island absolutely exists. Out on the Grand Line. If you catch the Knock Up Stream, you've got a shot at getting there.
"As for a Waver, picture this scooter in front of you and you've basically got it."
Their looks said they still didn't quite get it.
"Forget it, I'll show you."
A water scooter wasn't complicated, not once you knew the basics. Back in his previous life, Amon had taken one out around the Sea. A very fun toy.
He hopped onto the saddle, gave the throttle a twist, and the scooter sprang like a loosed stallion, rocketing away.
The speed stunned them. One flash of spray and Amon was a speck on the horizon. Then, a blink later, he came carving back, trailing a white wake and a crackle like lightning over water. Pure exhilaration.
The cooks on deck watched, envy thick in their eyes, most of it aimed at Patty.
Under all that attention, Patty stood there basking like a king.
"How about it? Pretty magical, right?" Amon killed the engine and stepped back aboard.
"Mr. Amon, can I… can I try it?"
Amon grinned at Patty's careful tone. "Of course. You're the one who pulled it from the jar."
He swung off and waved Patty up.
Ignition. Throttle. The scooter screamed away again.
"This is way too fun!"
After a long looping joyride, Patty reluctantly brought it back, climbing off with visible pain. This was a man's toy if ever there was one.
The rest looked ready to pile on too, if not for the awkward fact that none of them knew how.
"There's something even cooler," Amon said, holding up a card.
Every gaze snapped to him.
"This is a Moonwalk trial card: one of the Marine Six Styles. Use it and you can do Moonwalk. Fantastic for getting out of trouble."
"Moonwalk… trial card?" several echoed, puzzled. Not everyone was clear on the lore.
"Right. Think of it as an escape ticket. Activate it and you can step on air: Moonwalk. If you meet someone you can't beat, or if the ship's in trouble, you can pop this and get clear. Usage is simple. Press it to your chest and will it to activate."
He mimed the motion, tapping the card against his chest.
"As for these last crystal shards, they're a special forging material. If anyone lucks into a blueprint later, they'll be handy."
He handed the items to Patty.
"Now then, who else wants to open a jar? Only eight left."
With another sale under his belt, Amon was riding high. He swept the group with a bright smile.
The words were barely out when Zeff stepped forward. "Let me try."
After seeing what Sanji and Patty had drawn, he couldn't sit on his hands. With things like this, hesitation only breeds regret.
"Deal." Amon's smile widened. "Which one for you, Mr. Zeff?"
"That orange jar."
Zeff tapped the orange-glazed pot on the rack and passed over a neat stack of banknotes.
"Orange it is. Good luck, Mr. Zeff."
Money pocketed, jar delivered. Zeff raised the mallet and brought it down.
Clink.
Three items spilled across the deck. Everyone craned to see. Zeff himself was all expectation as he looked to Amon.
"Let me take a look."
Amon crouched, gathered them up, and let the system read them off in his mind.
