Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Ace Wants to Open the Jar

"Yes, we are here to open jars!"

Before anyone else could speak, Luffy blurted out an answer, as straightforward as ever.

Truly worthy of the most honest man in One Piece, someone who would never tell a lie.

"Mr. Amon, Luffy told me he opened a jar here earlier and got all sorts of incredible treasures. Is that true?"

Makino could not hold back her curiosity when it came to jar opening.

She still found it very hard to believe. All those jars looked completely ordinary, no different from the wine jars in her tavern.

Could something that looked so normal really produce items strong enough to defeat the Lord of the Coast?

"That is right. Every jar I sell contains a treasure. If you buy one, I promise you will not lose out. If you do decide to buy, I can even help you pick one that suits you. It will definitely be worth far more than its price."

Amon grinned as he tried to reel her in.

In truth, the odds of getting something good from the jars were completely random. He had no idea which one held a rare item and which one did not.

But persuasion was what mattered here. His top priority right now was to sell ten jars as quickly as possible. Once he hit that number, he would complete the system's task, unlock the right to leave this place, and gain one exclusive jar of his own.

According to the system, those exclusive jars could grant abilities.

At the moment, Amon was incredibly weak and urgently needed power.

Even if the ship was extremely safe, he could not avoid getting off it forever. Sometimes he would have to go out to purchase supplies. It was impossible to live his entire life on deck.

Of course, for now the system had grounded him. He could not leave the ship until he sold ten jars.

Which meant that, at the moment, his entire brain was focused on one thing: how to talk people into buying jars.

"These jars all look very ordinary to me."

While Amon was busy trying to talk Makino into it, Ace stared at the rows of jars and frowned.

"They look ordinary, but what is inside them is not ordinary at all. Oh, right, Luffy, you rushed off too quickly earlier. You even forgot to take this Revival Coin with you."

Seeing all the doubtful looks and hearing no one volunteer to buy, Amon felt a trace of impatience.

Then he suddenly remembered that in his hurry, Luffy had forgotten to take the Revival Coin. His eyes lit up immediately.

Was this not a living advertisement?

"Oh, I ran too fast and forgot. Thank you, big brother Amon."

Only after Amon reminded him did Luffy recall that he had left the coin behind.

"This came out of the jar, right? Luffy, let Grandpa take a look."

Everyone's eyes brightened as they watched Amon hand the item back to Luffy. They all wanted to see exactly what it was.

"It is very hard... Mr. Amon, what did you say this thing was again?"

Garp took the Revival Coin from Luffy and squeezed it between his fingers as he spoke.

Seeing Garp use that kind of strength to pinch the coin, Amon broke out in a nervous sweat.

Crap, do not break it...

Fortunately, the Revival Coin was tough enough. Despite Garp's powerful grip, it did not bend or deform at all.

"This is called a Revival Coin. As for its function..."

Amon deliberately paused at that point, letting the suspense build before continuing.

"Its function is exactly what the name suggests. It can revive someone who has died an unnatural death, as long as they have been dead for less than one minute, and bring them back at full strength."

"What! It can bring the dead back to life?"

"How is that possible? That has to be a lie!"

The moment Amon finished speaking, everyone was stunned. Their faces were full of disbelief.

After all, none of them had ever heard of anything that could revive the dead.

"Hehe, believe it or not, it is up to you. Luffy, keep it safe. That Revival Coin is incredibly valuable."

Seeing the doubt in their expressions, Amon did not bother arguing. He simply handed the coin back to Luffy.

"Big brother Amon, I believe you."

Taking the coin again, Luffy grinned, his trust in Amon plain in his eyes.

Even at seven, Luffy had an uncanny intuition for people. He couldn't explain it, but he could tell when someone meant what they said.

On top of that, after seeing Amon's other strange items, Luffy's trust in him had already been pushed straight to the maximum.

"Hahahaha, seeing all this makes this old man want to open a jar too. Unfortunately, I am a bit short on cash right now."

Garp still was not completely certain that Amon's jars consistently produced good items. He wanted to wait and watch a bit longer.

Ace, however, felt his heart stirring. The moment he heard that the coin in Luffy's hand could bring someone back to life, the longing in his eyes grew even stronger.

"Mr. Amon, I would like to open a jar and test my luck."

After a brief moment of thought, Ace clenched his teeth as if making a huge decision, then took out a small money pouch from behind his back.

Before coming here, he had already asked Luffy about the price and knew that opening a jar cost one hundred thousand Berries.

"Ace, you want to open a jar? Good, good, good!"

Seeing that he had finally talked someone into it, Amon was overjoyed, repeating "good" several times in a row.

He had been worried they would just look around and leave without buying. That would have made all his effort earlier completely pointless.

Now that someone was finally stepping up, he had his first success.

And once there was a first, others would be more likely to follow.

If Ace managed to open something amazing, then he would become yet another walking advertisement.

"Which one are you going to choose, Ace?"

Once he confirmed Ace had given him the full hundred thousand Berries, Amon stopped joking around and gestured at the rows of jars, asking which one he wanted.

"I want... that one at the very end."

After a brief moment of consideration, Ace pointed at the jar he felt the strongest pull toward.

Amon picked up the small wooden mallet, raised it above the jar Ace had chosen, and brought it down in a crisp strike.

In the next moment, three items tumbled out of the shattered clay and landed in front of everyone's eyes.
