Chapter 5 - I Don’t Agree

The next day.

Lucas was on his way to his company to deal with some matters when, halfway there, he received a call from his so-called villain "big brother."

The video call connected.

Adrien Lefèvre's handsome face appeared on the screen, his expression indifferent, tinged with impatience.

"Lucas," Adrien said coldly. "Come to my company right now."

Lucas smiled faintly."Alright."

Seeing that Lucas's attitude was noticeably calmer—no longer carrying the eager flattery he was used to—Adrien felt a trace of discomfort.

"Hurry up," Adrien snapped.

The call ended.

Lucas put away his phone, rubbed his brow, and muttered to himself,"Honestly, I don't really want to inherit your assets yet."

He didn't feel guilty saying it.

After all, in the original plot, Adrien Lefèvre would eventually be killed by the male protagonist.

Someone had to inherit everything.

And it couldn't be him dying first.

So—Your inheritance, I'll take it.

Besides, the Su Group was riddled with loopholes. Once Adrien fell, it would collapse easily.

Ten o'clock in the morning.

In the center of Jiangcheng stood the city's tallest building.

This was the headquarters of the Lefèvre Group.

Adrien Lefèvre was the president, but the chairwoman was his mother.

Although he held the title, many key decisions were still handled by her.

In Jianghu circles, Adrien was known as the "Mother-Controlled Villain."

Lucas walked into the building.

Several management staff members stopped when they saw him, greeting him politely.

"Mr. Lucas."

Lucas nodded lightly."Mm."

After he passed, some of them whispered disdainfully.

"What's there to show off? Isn't he just Mr. Lefèvre's follower?"

"Exactly. What's he dragging around?"

Even so, those people were still envious.

No matter how much someone mocked him, Lucas was worth over a billion.

They weren't qualified to judge someone who earned more in a day than they did in a year.

Lucas naturally knew how these managers viewed him.

And naturally—He didn't care.

"When the time comes," Lucas murmured softly, "they'll fall one by one."

He was a little petty.

Say whatever you want behind my back.

But if I hear it—

I'll remember you for a very long time.

Soon, Lucas arrived outside Adrien's office.

He knocked once, pushed the door open, and walked in.

"Adrien, what did you call me for?"

Adrien was sitting behind his desk.

The office décor was as extravagant as ever.

When Adrien saw Lucas, there was no trace of warmth on his face.

After withdrawing his gaze, he spoke flatly.

"Tonight, my mother can't accompany me to the Bai residence. You'll come with me."

Normally, Adrien went together with his mother.

But she was on a business trip.

And he had a subconscious resistance to dealing with that old fox alone.

So he dragged Lucas along.

Hearing this, Lucas nearly laughed inside.

"Alright," he replied with a smile. "Mr. Lefèvre."

What a real ironclad leash.

If Adrien hadn't brought him, the Bai family might not have reacted much.

But now that he had—

Things would get interesting.

Sorry.

I can only stay behind the scenes and add fuel to the fire.

Of course, Lucas wasn't exactly pleased.

This was the kind of thing Adrien could've explained clearly over the phone—

Yet he insisted on calling him over.

Seeing Lucas agree, Adrien waved his hand dismissively.

"You can go."

Lucas didn't turn hostile over it.

After all—

He was a man planning to inherit Adrien Lefèvre's legacy.

On the road back, Lucas recalled the original plot.

"At this point, Adrien should be going to the Bai residence to propose."

"Claire's grandfather originally intended to agree…"

"But after answering a phone call, he immediately refused."

"After that, Adrien leaves in anger—and runs into Camille Laurent, who comes to confess again."

That meant—

Lucas's eyes brightened.

The protagonist is about to appear.

That so-called "flat-headed" urban protagonist.

In these kinds of urban novels, the male lead always looked the same—a foreign-returned soldier king, usually with a buzz cut.

Soon.

Night fell.

Lucas drove his Porsche Cayenne, following closely behind Adrien's Rolls-Royce Phantom.

A proper little follower.

The Bai family was one of Jiangcheng's most prominent clans.

Their industries were vast.

Their total market value exceeded 130 billion.

They had built their foundation over four generations.

During the island invasion war years ago, the Bai family, as a wealthy household, donated most of their assets.

After the war, they gained official backing.

That was why they had continued to prosper.

The Bai family estate covered nearly six acres.

Rock gardens, courtyards, and villas—built in traditional Chinese style.

Once inside, Lucas followed closely behind Adrien.

Inside the main hall.

An elderly man with white hair and reading glasses sat at the head, on a golden nanmu chair.

Seeing Adrien enter, the old man smiled and put down his book.

"Xiaoyu is here. Sit."

Adrien responded quickly."Grandfather."

"Sit," Mr. Bai said gently, then glanced behind Adrien. "Did you bring Lucas to see Yingying?"

Adrien's intentions were obvious.

Lucas wasn't surprised.

He stepped forward before Adrien could speak.

"Good evening, Mr. Bai. My name is Lucas."

He smiled calmly, without the slightest hint of nervousness.

Mr. Bai's eyes flickered.

Lucas?

He knew this young man.

A true self-made figure in Jiangcheng—building a billion-valued company in just two or three years.

Though his reputation was…'Adrien Lefèvre's follower.'

But looking at him now—

It didn't quite match the rumors.

Mr. Bai laughed."Alright, Lucas. Sit down. No need to stand."

"Thank you, sir," Lucas replied, taking a seat.

Adrien felt slightly displeased, but out of respect for his grandfather, he said nothing.

Once everyone was seated, Adrien couldn't hold back anymore.

"Grandfather, I have something I'd like to ask—"

Mr. Bai looked at him knowingly."What is it?"

Adrien hesitated for a long moment before finally saying,"I want to talk to Yingying about—"

Before he could finish—

A clear, firm female voice came from outside the hall.

"You don't need to say anything about this."

"I don't agree."
