Chapter 75 - Chapter 75

Dust motes danced in the pale shafts of morning light that cut through the sprawling canopy of the Senju Library. It wasn't a mere room of dusty scrolls; the Senju archive was an entire estate unto itself. An ancient, colossal tree grew directly through the core of the main building, its roots interwoven seamlessly with the dark hardwood floors, while a side sliding door opened straight into a vast, seal-reinforced indoor training ground.

For the shadow clone Naruto had left behind in Konoha, however, the serene beauty of the compound had quickly devolved into a living hell.

"Argh! Damn it, damn it, damn it!"

Naruto shoved his hands through his messy blond locks, dragging them down violently until he was practically pulling his hair out by the roots. Ink stained his palms, dark smudges ruined his collar, and around him lay a graveyard of crumpled parchment.

He groaned loudly, collapsing backward onto his elbows on the smooth wooden floor.

He had spent days analyzing the notes of two total geniuses: the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, and his own father, the Fourth Hokage. On paper, he understood the mechanics. Hiraishin wasn't a high-speed sprint like the Shunshin; it was the literal, violent distortion of the spatial grid. You folded point A over to point B, stepped through the overlap, and let space snap back into place.

Because Naruto possessed memories of a past life on Earth—memories filled with theoretical physics, sci-fi tropes, and warnings about the catastrophic danger of messing with the space-time continuum—he was terrified of making a mistake. One miscalculation in the spatial geometry and he wouldn't just fail to teleport; he'd shear off his own limbs or materialize inside a solid stone wall.

Tobirama's original formula was brutal and raw. It forced a heavy, unrefined tear through space, requiring massive output and offering no visual flash. His father's version was a masterpiece of refinement, streamlined for high-speed battlefield assassination, resulting in the iconic yellow flash.

Yet, as Naruto tested his father's seal on short distances, he hit a wall. Every time he tried to extend the formula's range beyond a few dozen meters, the chakra cost spiked exponentially. Because the formula wasn't attuned to his specific, impossibly dense chakra signature, trying to jump vast distances was like trying to force a roaring river through a copper pipe.

A full week bled away in a haze of sleepless nights, ink-stained fingers, and endless frustration.

On the seventh morning, the clone finally emerged from the training halls, looking physically exhausted as he slumped into a seat at the breakfast table in the main house. Countless miles away in the hidden realm of Mount Myōboku, the original Naruto was currently resting in a deep, healing sleep inside the toad elders' house, having just survived his incredibly reckless stunt with the raw toad oil. The subtle, invisible tether connecting the original to the clone pulsed with a faint, steady hum, signaling that the original's chakra was expanding into a pseudo-Sage state.

Tsunade sat across from the clone, sipping her hot tea while Shizune busied herself setting down plates of grilled fish, rice, and miso soup.

"Still haven't cracked it, brat?" Tsunade asked, raising a single golden eyebrow over the rim of her teacup.

Naruto slumped forward, dropping his chin onto the wooden table with a pathetic thud. "Auntie Tsunade, it doesn't make sense. I have Dad's exact notes. I copied his formula stroke for stroke. But when I try to push the anchor points further out, it drags on my coils like lead. It takes too much energy to hold the bridge open."

Tsunade set her teacup down with a quiet clink. As an Uzumaki, her blood carried an instinctive, ancient grasp of fūinjutsu, even if combat wasn't her primary focus.

"You're thinking like an imitator, Naruto," she said softly. "You are trying to wear a coat tailored specifically for your father. Seals at that level aren't just rigid math; they require a personal signature. The formula has to breathe with your chakra."

Naruto lifted his head slightly, squinting at her. "What do you mean?"

"I mean stop trying to force your father's spirit into your ink," Tsunade replied, a fond, distant smile touching her lips. "My grandmother, Mito Uzumaki, was a master of space-time fūinjutsu. Do you know what she used her personal spatial seals for most of the time?"

"For battle?" Naruto muttered. "Defending the clan?"

"She used it for household chores," Tsunade said nonchalantly. "If she was lounging on the porch and wanted a cold glass of tea, she'd snap a quick seal, reach into a spatial pocket, and pull a cup straight out of the icebox in the kitchen."

Naruto's jaw dropped so low it nearly touched his plate. Beside the table, Shizune violently sweat-dropped, almost dropping a pot of hot tea.

The legendary, god-like space-time manipulation—the very technique his father had used to become the most feared killer in ninja history—had been used by Mito Uzumaki as a glorified lazy-susan.

"The point is," Tsunade continued, unbothered by their shock, "Grandma Mito made the technique fit her life and her rhythm. Stop copying your father. Ask yourself how you want the spatial shift to feel."

Back inside the quiet expanse of the indoor training ground, Naruto lay flat on his back, staring calmly up at the high wooden beams of the ceiling.

Tsunade's words echoed endlessly in his mind.

How do I want it to feel?

He didn't just want a point-to-point tether for combat. He needed a network. Something that could link his clones across the entire continent. A continuous, stable structure.

"A bridge..." Naruto muttered to himself, his voice soft in the empty hall. "The seal isn't just a mark. It's a bridge between me and where I want to go. A bridge for space..."

He blinked. The words hung in his mind, sparking a sudden, profound clarity.

Space bridge.

Like a perfectly slotted puzzle piece, a vivid memory from his past life on Earth surfaced in his mind. Cybertron. Ground bridges. Space bridges.

Naruto sat up, his expression calming into a sharp, focused stillness. The frustration of the past week evaporated, replaced by the cool, victorious certainty of someone who had just solved an impossible equation.

He brought his index and middle fingers together in a cross. Poof! A second shadow clone materialized beside him in a swirl of white smoke.

"Alright, let's break this down," the first clone said, his voice even and analytical. "We've been looking at this all wrong. We've been trying to build a battering ram to punch through space."

The second clone crossed his arms, leaning against the wooden pillar as he caught the train of thought instantly. "Because Dad's seal punches a hole, steps through, and lets it snap back. It's violent. That's why it produces the yellow flash—it's displacement friction."

"Exactly," the first clone nodded. "We don't need to punch a hole. What if we build a static access node? Like a ground bridge. A central hub that routes through space."

"Wait, let's refine that," the second clone countered smoothly. "A ground bridge requires massive, fixed machinery and a giant portal frame. We're ninjas. We can't carry a glowing ring on our backs. What about the Armada series from our past memories? Remember how they teleported?"

The first clone's eyes lit up with quiet realization. "They didn't open a door. Their physical bodies digitized. They flickered out of phase with reality and instantly materialized at the target coordinates."

"A flicker," the second clone murmured softly, a confident smile touching his lips. "We don't tear space-time open. We weave our chakra into the natural spatial grid. We phase into the fold, let the grid carry us, and phase back out."

"It eliminates the friction," the first clone stated, the victory cementing in his mind. "No friction means no wasted energy, no massive chakra cost, and no bright flash to give away our position."

With a soft, satisfied pop, the second clone dispelled himself, transferring the perfected calculations directly back into the primary clone's head.

Naruto dropped to his knees, pulling a fresh, pristine scroll of thick sealing parchment across the floor. He dipped his brush deep into a vessel of heavy, chakra-conductive black ink.

His hand moved with absolute, fluid authority. He wasn't tracing his father's lines anymore; he was composing a new language entirely.

In bold, sweeping strokes, he painted the title across the top of the scroll: Raisan (雷神 - Lightning God Formula).

At the absolute center of the array, he carved the kanji for Kami (神 - God/Spirit). This was the core stabilizer—the heart of the seal designed to anchor his massive, dense chakra and ensure his physical body re-materialized perfectly intact.

Surrounding the central core, he mapped out the four cardinal pillars of his new spatial structure:

Above the core, he painted Tenrai (天雷 - Heavenly Thunder), the guiding beacon that would cut through distance and seek out the destination marker.

To the left, he drew Dō (導 - Guide/Conduit), the direct tether that locked his personal chakra signature into the formula, allowing his ocean-like reserves to fuel the jump without bursting the spatial weave.

To the right, he added Ten (転 - Revolve/Shift), the active engine that would instantly phase his physical form out of standard reality and into the spatial fold.

Around the entire core, he drew sweeping, aggressive arcs shaped like jagged lightning bolts—the instant-transmission release triggers. Precise, hollow circles were inked along the central axis, acting as localized chakra anchors.

When he finally lifted his brush, the seal looked nothing like his father's simplified three-pronged formula. It was intricate, sharp, and looked almost alive, radiating a faint, humming vibration as the ink dried.

Naruto leaned back, his posture relaxed, admiring the completed master scroll. In the margin, he jotted down the foundational attributes of his creation:

Works seamlessly over any distance without exponential chakra scaling.

Can link multiple destination nodes simultaneously into a singular grid.

Fully compatible with massive chakra transfer—meaning Kurama's energy could pass through it unharmed.

Adaptable and expandable for future modifications.

It was no longer just a copy of a Hokage's legacy. It was the physical manifestation of his own will—a tool built to transcend limits and bridge the gap between him and those he needed to protect.

A smug, calm grin broke across Naruto's face. He picked up a smaller, fine-tipped brush, dipped it in red ink, and stamped his Uzumaki swirl alongside the Leaf village crest at the bottom right corner.

Directly beneath the main formula, he wrote a tiny, cheeky footnote in flowing cursive:

"Not for copying. Only for those who understand."

Naruto blew gently on the drying ink, his blue eyes gleaming with absolute, victorious pride. The Flying Thunder God had officially evolved.

The ink on the parchment was barely dry, but the Raisan was finally complete.

Sitting on the polished floor of the Senju training ground, the shadow clone stared down at his masterpiece, a feral grin pulling at his lips. He had spent sleepless nights agonizing over the spatial geometry of this technique. If it didn't work after all this effort, he was fully prepared to rip someone's head clean out of its socket out of sheer frustration. Perhaps a certain pink-haired banshee, or maybe he'd just settle for the brooding Uchiha who was currently having his psyche meticulously disassembled down in the Leaf's T&I interrogation center.

But those were violent, deeply satisfying thoughts for another time. Right now, he had a universe to bend.

Naruto brought his index and middle fingers together in a cross-shaped seal. With a soft poof of white smoke, a secondary shadow clone materialized beside him.

"Take this," the primary clone said, tossing over a custom-made kunai wrapped in the freshly inked Raisan formula.

The secondary clone nodded, blurring out of existence with a sharp whoosh of displaced air.

Naruto closed his eyes, extending his senses. He didn't have the pinpoint sensory range of Karin or a Hyūga, but his chakra reserves were so dense that he could easily feel the distinct, thrumming signature of his own formula settling into the rock high above the village.

He locked onto the anchor. He activated the space bridge.

At first, the transition was sluggish. He felt the aggressive pull of the spatial tether, his physical body instantly digitizing into a localized blur of chakra. But as he phased into the spatial fold, it felt like wading through thick mud. A full, disorienting second passed before reality snapped back into place, leaving him stumbling slightly on the dusty stone overlooking the village.

It was fast—like a high-tier Shunshin—but it wasn't true teleportation yet. The spatial friction was dragging on him.

"Again," Naruto, tossing another marked kunai

For the next several hours, the two clones bounced across the hidden village. From the Hokage Monument to the dense treeline, from the training grounds back to the Senju compound. With each jump, Naruto forcefully smoothed out the flow of his chakra. He stopped treating it as a physical movement and fully embraced the concept of a bridge.

The sluggishness began to evaporate. The one-second delay dropped to a half-second, then a quarter. The visual flicker tightened, losing its blurred edges. By sunset, as the sky over Konoha bled into brilliant shades of violet and gold, Naruto locked onto a seal placed on a distant tree branch.

He didn't step. He just willed it.

Snap.

No sound. No yellow flash. No friction. One millisecond he was standing on the monument, and the absolute next, his boots were resting perfectly on the bark of the tree miles away. He had done it.

That evening, the atmosphere in the Senju dining room was rich with the scent of grilled fish and the warm, golden light of paper lanterns. The sliding shoji screens were pushed wide open, letting in the cool night breeze and the rhythmic chirping of cicadas from the compound's sprawling gardens.

Tsunade and Shizune sat at the low wooden table, staring at the scroll Naruto had unrolled between the dishes.

Neither of them was overly surprised that the boy had accomplished the impossible; they were simply stunned by the terrifying speed at which he had done it. It had taken a single piece of abstract advice about Mito Uzumaki for him to completely re-engineer one of the deadliest jutsu in shinobi history.

Tsunade let out a boisterous laugh, reaching beneath the table and slamming three large ceramic jugs of premium sake onto the wood.

"Alright, brat!" the Slug Princess declared, popping the cork off the first jug with her thumb. "We are parting tonight. A victory like this demands a proper celebration!"

Shizune immediately waved her hands in a panic. "Lady Tsunade! You can't be serious! Naruto is a minor, you cannot force him to drink sake!"

"Oh, put a cork in it, Shizune," Tsunade scoffed, pouring a generous amount of clear liquor into a small saucer and shoving it toward the blonde teenager. "The brat assassinates S-rank missing-nin for breakfast, and he's already slept with Temari. I think his fragile innocence can handle a little rice wine."

Shizune turned a violent shade of crimson, hiding her face behind her hands. Naruto, completely caught off guard, choked on his own spit, his face matching Shizune's complexion perfectly.

"Hey! Come on!" Naruto sputtered, waving his hands defensively. "You don't need to drag Temari into this! That's private!"

Tsunade smirked, leaning her chin on her hand, her amber eyes dancing with wicked amusement. "Oh? So who should I drag into it? The Yamanaka girl? The shy Hyūga? Or maybe the weapon specialist, Tenten? You tell me, brat. Pick your poison."

Naruto stared at the smirking Hokage, realizing very quickly that this was a battle he could not win. Defeated, he grabbed the saucer of sake.

"You don't need to pull anybody into it," Naruto muttered, throwing his head back and downing the liquor in one smooth gulp. The sake burned like liquid fire down his throat, making him cough, but he slammed the saucer back onto the table. "Let's just drink."

Tsunade's smirk widened into a proud, victorious grin. "That's what I thought. You're way too young to win an argument with me."

The three of them drank and feasted deep into the night, the secondary testing clone having quietly dispelled hours ago to send the finalized Raisan data back to the original body.

The next morning, the dining room was quiet, bathed in the soft, pale light of dawn. Naruto stood near the doorway, stretching his arms above his head as Shizune quietly cleared the remaining plates from breakfast.

"Well," the clone said, rolling his shoulders. "My work here is officially done. The seal is perfected, the theory is solid. I'm going to poof now."

"Yeah, you're not going to poof away just yet," Tsunade's voice called out.

Naruto blinked, lowering his arms as the Hokage strode into the room, looking entirely unaffected by the previous night's heavy drinking.

"What?" Naruto asked, tilting his head. "You want to send me on a mission? Auntie Tsunade, you know I'm just a shadow clone, right? A solid hit and I'm smoke."

"Oh, I know," Tsunade said smoothly, taking a seat at the head of the table and crossing her arms. "But this mission falls directly under your specific line of expertise. I don't need a brawler. I need a ghost. I need you to spy on some people for me."

Naruto's eyes gleamed, a slow, dangerous grin spreading across his face. He rubbed his hands together, the thrill of espionage sparking in his chest.

"Ooh. Now that's spicy," Naruto chuckled. "So, who exactly am I stalking?"

"Not directly stalking. More like... aggressive information gathering," Tsunade corrected, her tone dropping into utter seriousness as she began to detail the classified assignment.

Far away from the political machinations of Konoha, hidden within the misty, vibrant expanse of the Toad Lands, the original Naruto Uzumaki finally opened his eyes.

He was lying on a soft futon inside the elders' house. He had slept through the entire previous evening, entirely missing his deadline to speak with Lord Fukasaku. But as his conscious mind booted up, a massive, overwhelming influx of knowledge flooded his brain. The secondary clone in Konoha had dispelled during the night, seamlessly transferring the perfected mechanics of the Raisan directly into his soul.

Naruto sat up, his body feeling preternaturally light, humming with the dense power of his newly evolved pseudo-Sage physique.

He didn't waste a second. Pushing open the wooden window, he hopped lightly onto the windowsill, breathing in the rich, heavy air of Mount Myōboku. Towering, neon-colored mushrooms stretched toward a pale blue sky, and ancient stone toad statues lined the mossy pathways below.

With a pulse of chakra, Naruto summoned his custom-forged katana from its storage seall. Drawing the blade slightly, he pressed his thumb to the metal hilt, channeling his chakra and burning the sharp, jagged formula of the Raisan directly into the steel.

Stepping out onto the grass, he reared back and hurled the katana with terrifying, enhanced physical strength. The blade shot upward like a silver bullet, sailing high over the canopy and embedding itself deeply into the peak of a distant, towering stone spire.

Naruto took a breath. He visualized the anchor. He stepped onto the space bridge.

There was no sluggishness. No drag. The world simply blinked.

The morning breeze of the valley floor instantly vanished, replaced by the biting, cold wind of the high altitudes. Naruto found himself crouched perfectly atop the stone spire, his hand firmly gripping the hilt of the embedded katana.

He looked down at the sprawling, majestic landscape of the Toad Lands far below him, a breathless laugh escaping his lips.

"Well, brat," Kurama's deep, rumbling voice echoed in the confines of his mind, vibrating with a rare sense of satisfaction. "Looks like we are one massive step closer to your goal now."

"You're right on that one, Kurama," Naruto replied mentally, pulling the katana free and sheathing it in one fluid motion. "The formula is flawless. Now... let's see what Ma and Pa have decided. I slept entirely too long, so I missed Pa's evening answer."

He looked toward the small house in the distance, his blue eyes hardening with resolve. He was going to ask Lord Fukasaku for the key to the Kyūbi seal right now.

And if the elder toad refused, well... Naruto already had a secondary option prepared.
