Chapter 65 - Chapter 65

"All of you, STAND DOWN!"

Tsunade's voice erupted through the room like a thunderclap, violently rattling the glass in the windowpanes and vibrating the floorboards beneath their feet. She was already on her feet, leaning over her desk with eyes burning with absolute, unadulterated authority.

"This is my office!" she roared. "Not a common fish market where you can just come in and start a brawl! Sai, put your blade back in its scabbard! Kakashi, stand down! Naruto, release Sakura. And Sakura... you put your fist down right now."

The sheer force of her command broke the paralyzing tension.

Sai immediately withdrew his tantō, sliding it back into its sheath with a crisp click, his face entirely blank. Kakashi released Sakura's wrist and took a calculated step backward. Naruto coldly shoved Sakura's trembling fist away from him, his eyes never leaving her face as he stepped back to give the Hokage the floor.

Tsunade took a deep, steadying breath, though it did nothing to quell the storm brewing in her eyes. She turned her sharp gaze to the Root operative first.

"Sai," Tsunade commanded, her voice dropping to a dangerously stern baseline. "You do not raise a lethal blade against a fellow Konoha shinobi unless I give you a direct, personal order, or your field commander authorizes it. Am I understood? And even if your commander gives that order, you specifically make sure that the damage inflicted on your fellow villager is kept to an absolute minimum."

"Understood, Hokage-sama," Sai replied mechanically, bowing his head in submission.

Satisfied for the moment, Tsunade closed her eyes. The room held its breath. When she opened them again, her gaze locked onto her pink-haired apprentice, and the temperature in the room plummeted.

"Sakura Haruno," Tsunade began, her voice a lethal whisper. "What the bloody hell were you thinking just now?"

Sakura flinched as if she had been physically struck, her hands dropping to her sides. "L-Lady Tsunade, I—"

"Quiet!" Tsunade snapped. "Why did you just raise your fist against a fellow shinobi? Do you have any idea what that constitutes? Assaulting a comrade in front of the Hokage? And for what? Why are you trying to violently defend a confirmed, unrepentant traitor to this village?!"

Sakura looked down, tears of frustration and shame welling in her eyes, but Tsunade wasn't finished.

"I need answers right now, Haruno Sakura. And I need proper, real answers—not this delusional fan fiction of a love story that you've constructed in your head!" Tsunade slammed her fist onto the desk, cracking the polished wood. "I let you entertain that childish fantasy, hoping—praying—that you would eventually grow up, see the light of reality, and recognize the severity of the crimes Sasuke Uchiha has committed. But clearly, I was wrong."

Tsunade stepped around her desk, stalking toward her trembling apprentice. As she moved, a terrifying, suffocating golden aura of pure, raw chakra began to physically manifest around her body.

"Do you comprehend what you almost did today?" Tsunade demanded. "Be incredibly grateful that this happened in a closed setting. If you had done this in the streets, in front of the village? You would have learned exactly what happens to shinobi who attack their own. You would have buried my name in the dirt! The council, the civilians, the Anbu—everyone would be saying, 'Tsunade Senju's personal apprentice attacked a loyal shinobi without hesitation and without justification to defend a rogue ninja.' Is that what you're trying to do? Drag my name through the mud? Is this the absolute lack of discipline you give me in return for personally training you?!"

Tsunade didn't stop there. She launched into a relentless, blistering verbal assault, completely tearing down every misguided ideal Sakura had clung to. She demanded accountability, tearing away the girl's excuses and laying bare the sheer stupidity of prioritizing a childhood crush over the lives of her actual comrades.

As her fury peaked, the golden aura radiating from the Hokage grew blinding, accompanied by a wave of killer intent so thick it felt like gravity had tripled inside the room.

Standing near the window, Jiraiya took one look at the glowing, furious visage of the woman he had known for decades. He knew exactly what came next when Tsunade got like this.

Without a single word, the legendary Toad Sage smoothly slid the window open, completely abandoned the team to their fate, and silently sprinted out onto the rooftops, fleeing for his life.

Inside the room, the remaining shinobi couldn't escape. Kakashi and Yamato, both hardened veterans of the Anbu Black Ops, visibly sweated and took a synchronized step backward. Even Sai looked unnerved.

Naruto, despite his immense power and the six-tailed chakra he had wielded earlier that very day, felt his survival instincts screaming. He carefully, quietly took a step back, pressing his shoulders against the wall to put as much distance between himself and the glowing Hokage as physically possible.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the golden aura slowly began to recede. Tsunade let out a harsh, ragged sigh, the heavy weight of her killer intent lifting from the room. She turned her back on her weeping apprentice and marched back to her chair, exhausted.

She didn't look at any of them as she sat down and picked up her pen.

"I want your full, written mission reports on my desk by tomorrow morning," Tsunade ordered, her voice cold and final. "You are all dismissed."
