Chapter 53 - Chapter 53

The moment Naruto cleared the tree line, the serene atmosphere of the hot spring valley vanished, swallowed by the oppressive gloom of the ancient forest. He didn't look back to see how Kakashi and the others were handling Kabuto; he had absolute faith in the Copy Ninja's lethality when the safety gloves were off.

Dropping into his inner consciousness as he leaped from branch to branch, Naruto called out into the dark waters of his mindscape. 'Kurama, you ready?'

Deep within the cage, a catastrophic wave of red energy surged, but before it could break through, Naruto suppressed it, molding it. The Great Fox let out a predatory roar that vibrated through Naruto's dental work. "Oh, I was born ready, brat! Let's rip this pathetic snake out of his skin and show these insects why reptiles should never mess with a fox!"

"Yeah. Let's," Naruto muttered aloud.

Instead of the chaotic, burning red malice of the default seal leak, Naruto drew upon a precise, highly compressed layer of Kurama's energy, mixing it with his own vast reserves. A brilliant, electric-blue chakra outline erupted across his skin, forming a sleek, pressurized shroud. The sheer kinetic output of the shroud shattered the thick oak branch beneath his boots, launching him forward in a blinding, supersonic blur.

A quarter-mile deep into the jungle, Orochimaru finally managed to stabilize his momentum. He slammed the flat of his Kusanagi blade into the trunk of a massive redwood, carving a deep groove into the timber before his boots touched the ground.

He leaned against the tree, spitting a thick glob of crimson onto the moss. His chest heaved, his internal organs protesting the sheer, violent pressure of Naruto's opening strike.

"Incredible..." Orochimaru hissed, his yellow, slitted eyes tracking the structural damage to his own body. "That impact... it felt almost identical to Tsunade's punches when she's in a total rage. I was under the impression Jiraiya was training the boy, not her."

Before he could even wipe the blood from his chin, the ambient temperature in the forest plummeted. A blinding flash of electric blue tore through the canopy. Naruto was descending upon him like a fallen star.

Reacting on pure, muscle-memory instinct born of a hundred wars, Orochimaru's hands blurred through a sequence. "Water Style: High-Pressure Jet!"

He expelled a razor-thin, hyper-compressed torrent of water directly toward Naruto's face, capable of slicing clean through solid bedrock.

Naruto's fingers snapped into a single, flawless hand seal mid-air. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

A massive, roiling sphere of orange-white flame erupted from Naruto's jaws, colliding directly with the water jet. The pressurized water cut through the center of the fireball, but the sheer thermal volume of Naruto's chakra instantly vaporized the liquid. A massive, deafening hiss echoed through the forest as an impenetrable wall of scalding white steam blanketed the entire clearing.

Through the mist, the two combatants backed off, landing fifty feet apart on opposite sides of the newly created gray zone.

Orochimaru held the Kusanagi casually in his right hand, his body language relaxed, though his muscles were tightly coiled. Naruto calmly unsealed his own Ninth Cutter from a storage seal on his wrist, resting the flat of the steel lazily against his right shoulder in an identical, unbothered stance.

"I am honestly impressed, Naruto-kun," Orochimaru murmured into the steam, his long, serpentine tongue sliding across his upper lip with an unsettling, wet sound. "You are truly not the loud, irritating brat from three years ago. The casting speed of that fireball... the raw weight of that initial punch... it's marvelous. But I must ask a question before we begin the real dance."

Naruto didn't shift his stance. "What's that, Orochimaru?"

"I thought Jiraiya was your master," the Sannin purred, his eyes scanning the blue chakra outline pulsing around the boy. "How did you acquire that crushing fist technique? Tsunade's signature strength requires a highly meticulous, microscopic level of medical chakra control to release energy at the exact millisecond of impact. You don't possess that kind of patience."

Naruto let out a dry, mocking chuckle. "Oh, that? Nothing special. Just one day during my training trip, I was doing standard punch practice against a mountain. I thought to myself: 'Why don't I just inject a massive, compressed block of my own chakra directly into the kinetic trajectory?' And it worked."

Orochimaru's eyes widened slightly before a dark, deeply envious smile stretched across his pale face. "Oh... so that's how you did it. You didn't use Tsunade's miraculous, delicate control. You simply used your own raw, untamed, monstrosity of a chakra pool to force the same physical outcome. You truly continue to surprise me, Naruto-kun. Most fools in your position would spend years trying to copy the exact manual. You simply used your unique curse to your advantage. But honestly... do you genuinely believe you can take Sasuke-kun back from me with just raw force?"

Naruto shifted. He lifted the Ninth Cutter from his shoulder, letting the tip point downward toward the dirt, his aura turning ice-cold.

"We aren't talking about Sasuke right now," Naruto said flatly. "Right now, it's just you versus me. Let's see if you can even survive the version of me that exists today."

"Fair enough," Orochimaru hissed.

In the next microsecond, both figures vanished from visual reality.

CLANG!

A massive, concussive shockwave rippled through the upper canopy as their blades met in the center of the clearing. The sheer speed of their movements turned the forest into a chaotic gallery of afterimages and silver flashes. They utilized the Body Flicker technique in rapid succession, appearing on branches, trunk sides, and high leaves, their swords clashing with a rhythmic, metallic roar that sounded like a Gatling gun.

Trees were systematically sheared in half; ancient branches rained down like toothpicks as the kinetic energy of their battle carved the terrain to pieces.

"Your swordsmanship and blade work are quite exquisite, Naruto-kun!" Orochimaru shouted over the din of steel, executing a spinning parry that deflected Naruto's blade downward. "I must say, your current proficiency is right up there with the legendary Seven Swordsmen of the Mist!"

They teleported simultaneously, their boots sticking to the horizontal surface of a massive redwood trunk using chakra, staring each other down from opposite sides of the bark.

"Don't compare me to those overhyped thugs!" Naruto snapped, his eyes flashing dangerous gold. "I'm an Uzumaki, Orochimaru! Did you forget that? My clan's swordsmanship makes those Mist bastards look like children playing with sticks!"

Naruto spun his blade in a rapid, circular motion, channeling a violent, spiraling torrent of wind-natured chakra along the steel.

"Whirlpool Style: Whirlpool Slash!"

Naruto unleashed a localized storm of thousands of micro-compressed wind slashes that tore across the gap. The air itself screamed as the vacuum blades shredded the redwood tree. Orochimaru's eyes narrowed; he danced backward in a blur of evasive maneuvers, using the Kusanagi to deflect the direct hits. The slashes he couldn't block ripped through his heavy grey robes, leaving clean, bleeding cuts across his shoulders and chest, though he quickly substituted his balance to stay upright.

"Ah... so you do know about your heritage, Naruto-kun?" Orochimaru panted slightly, his shredded clothes hanging off his frame.

"Of course I do!" Naruto shouted back, landing lightly on a high branch. "My old man's face is literally carved into a giant stone monument that I had to stare at every single day of my miserable childhood. If I couldn't figure out who my father was with a clue that big, I should have hanged myself out of sheer stupidity."

Orochimaru chuckled darkly, adjusting his stance. "Ah... then what shall I address you as now? The son of the Yellow Flash?"

"Just call me Naruto," the boy replied, a dangerous, prideful grin cutting across his features. "But if you absolutely need a title to fear, call me the son of the Red-Hot Habane—" Naruto paused, correcting himself with a sharp smirk, " After all, that was my mother's legendary title in the war, wasn't it?"

Orochimaru's expression sobered, a rare look of genuine respect flickering in his slitted eyes. "Ah, yes... Kushina Uzumaki. Truly a prodigy among prodigies. The only kunoichi in the Hidden Leaf who possessed the raw spiritual and physical fortitude to keep up with Tsunade when she was in her absolute prime. I must admit, if your mother hadn't perished during the Nine-Tails attack, it would not have been impossible for her to become the strongest kunoichi in existence and sit in the Hokage chair today. Even the Yellow Flash himself would completely vanish from the room whenever her temper flared."

Orochimaru raised his sword, his killing intent flaring to its absolute maximum. "Your mother was truly one of a kind. Let us see if you inherit her terrifying blood, or if you are just a pale imitation of your father."

For the next thirty minutes, the forest was subjected to absolute decimation. Neither combatant yielded an inch of ground. The terrain around them was transformed into a wasteland of fallen timber, deep gouges, and severed trees.

Finally, following a massive, dual-blade lock that threatened to shatter both of their weapons, Orochimaru leaped back a hundred feet, landing gracefully on a shattered stump.

"I believe the warm-up protocol is concluded, wouldn't you agree, Naruto-kun?" Orochimaru said, smoothly sheathing the Kusanagi back into his throat in his signature, grotesque fashion.

Naruto mirrored the action, sealing the Ninth Cutter back in arm. "You're damn right. Time for the real show."

"Then let us begin," Orochimaru hissed. He thrust both hands forward, his sleeves exploding outward. "Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!"

Thousands of massive, venomous vipers erupted from his arms, forming a writhing, terrifying tidal wave of scales and fangs that tore across the forest floor, consuming everything in their path.

Naruto didn't even move from his spot. He simply inhaled, drawing an absurd, irresponsible amount of Kurama's raw chakra into his lungs.

"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

The resulting inferno wasn't a standard fireball; it was a localized apocalypse. A wall of blue-white flame roared outward, instantly turning the entire forward quadrant of the forest into ash. The thousands of snakes didn't even have time to hiss before they were completely vaporized, the fire burning so hot it turned the soil beneath them into glass.

Orochimaru used the blinding light of the explosion to flash-step through the smoke, appearing instantly at Naruto's blind spot. His movement speed was monstrous. "Wind Style: Wind Bullets!"

He spat out dozens of compressed air spheres, following them up immediately with a massive, sweeping gust: "Great Breakthrough!"

Naruto countered instantly, turning his torso and unleashing his own Great Breakthrough powered by the blue shroud. The two colossal wind currents collided in the center of the clearing, creating a violent vacuum that tore the remaining trees right out of their roots, sending them flying into the upper atmosphere.

Through the debris, Orochimaru appeared directly in front of Naruto, his speed surpassing the boy's sensory reactions for a split second. He drove a chakra-reinforced punch straight into Naruto's ribs.

Naruto managed to cross his forearms in front of his chest at the last possible microsecond.

BOOM!

The impact launched Naruto backward like a bullet, his boots digging deep trenches into the earth for fifty yards before he stopped. He wiped a smudge of soot from his crossed arms, a dark, primal expression taking over his face.

"Alright," Naruto muttered, his voice dropping into a distorted, dual-toned register. "Looks like I need to get a little more beastly for this part."

The electric-blue shroud violently shattered. In its place, a torrent of boiling, corrosive, blood-red chakra erupted from his seal. The energy bubbled across his skin like boiling oil, forming the dark, obsidian-red skin of the miniature Tailed Beast shroud.

One. Two. Three. Four tails sprouted from his lower back, whipping through the air with enough force to shatter boulders. And right before Orochimaru's widening eyes, a fifth tail began to violently manifest, the skeletal framework of the fox's spine beginning to form over Naruto's shoulders.

The youth was gone. Standing in the center of the clearing was a small, headless silhouette of pure, apocalyptic destruction.

"Let's see how you handle this, snake," Naruto's voice boomed, echoing from everywhere and nowhere at once.

Before Orochimaru could even register the transformation, a massive hand made of pure, elongated red chakra extended from Naruto's position, traveling across the fifty-yard gap in a millisecond.

BOOM!

The chakra fist caught Orochimaru squarely in the left cheek. The sheer kinetic force tore the flesh right off his face, launching the Sannin spinning through the air like a discarded rag doll. He crashed through five consecutive rock formations before slamming into the dirt.

Naruto was already above him. He brought his physical fist down toward Orochimaru's chest. Orochimaru rolled frantically to the side as Naruto's fist hit the earth.

CRACK!

A massive, hundred-foot crater collapsed inward, the shockwave flattening the surrounding landscape.

What followed was a brutal, one-sided game of predator and prey. Orochimaru utilized every high-speed body-flicker and substitution technique in his arsenal, but every time he tried to counter, Naruto's raw speed and density overwhelmed him. Every single missed strike from the five-tailed silhouette left another massive, yawning crater in the earth, turning the entire valley into a moonscape.

"Enough!" Naruto's distorted voice roared.

The five-tailed beast stopped its frantic pursuit, planting its claws firmly into the center of the ruined terrain. Naruto opened his jaws wide. Ambient blue and red chakra particles began to gather in the air, spinning rapidly before condensing into a tiny, hyper-dense, purple-black orb of pure, unadulterated mass.

Naruto swallowed the orb. His entire torso expanded like a taut balloon, the veins along his chakra network glowing a violent, blinding violet.

Orochimaru's eyes widened in genuine, primal terror. He recognized that structure. It was the ultimate weapon of the hidden villages.

"No... not that!" Orochimaru screamed, his hands blurring through hand seals faster than he had ever executed them in his long life, biting both of his thumbs until they bled. "Summoning: Triple Rashomon!"

SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!

Three colossal, demonic iron gates erupted from the depths of the earth, rising hundreds of feet into the air, each gate adorned with a terrifying, protective red oni mask. It was the absolute pinnacle of Orochimaru's defensive ninjutsu.

The next millisecond, Naruto unleashed the energy.

A colossal, blinding beam of black-and-purple destruction tore out of his mouth, traveling in a straight line.

The beam hit the first Rashomon gate. The iron structure didn't even manage to deflect the trajectory; it was instantly pulverized into microscopic dust. The beam continued, tearing through the second gate as if it were wet tissue paper, and slammed squarely into the third. The final gate exploded into a spectacular shower of white-hot shrapnel, the remaining kinetic force of the Tailed Beast Bomb blowing Orochimaru completely out of his boots and sending him skipping across the burning wasteland like a stone on water.

When the blinding light finally receded, the forest was gone. In its place sat a massive, smoldering canyon that stretched for miles, the air thick with black smoke and the smell of ozone.

In the absolute center of the wasteland stood Naruto, his five tails swaying gently in the ash, the dark red cloak humming with residual energy. Across from him, lying in a heap of tattered robes, was Orochimaru. His current body was entirely ruined, his skin peeling away to reveal the pale, scaly visage of his true form underneath.

With a raspy, agonizing breath, Orochimaru forced himself back to his feet, pulling the Kusanagi from his throat once more, his hands trembling as he took a desperate, defensive stance.

"You're done," Naruto rumbled.

The five-tailed beast violently drove both of its obsidian-red arms deep into the cracked earth beneath its boots.

For a second, nothing happened. Then, the ground beneath Orochimaru violently ruptured.

Four massive, colossal arms made of pure, dense, golden-red chakra erupted from the subterranean dirt directly beneath the Sannin's feet. The constructs surged upward like hunting pythons, wrapping tightly around Orochimaru's ankles, his waist, and his sword-arm before he could even attempt to leap away.

"What?!" Orochimaru choked out, his slitted eyes darting down at the vice-like grip of the chakra arms pinning him to the spot.

Naruto slowly lifted his head, his blank, white chakra eyes locking onto the trapped Sannin. The fifth tail whipped aggressively through the ash, preparing the final, decisive strike. The snake was caught in the trap, and the fox was ready to tear him in half.
