Chapter 54 - Chapter 53: Disruptor

Desorock Highland.

Countless weapons, buildings, and rocks floated up from the ground, forging a majestic and enormous giant statue—Ovathrax.

This statue sat deep in Norfall Barrens, and the surroundings of Norfall Barrens were protected by a massive barrier shield, preventing anyone from easily intruding.

"For a long time, it has overlooked the entire Jinzhou from high in the sky like a giant, proclaiming Ovathrax's ambition."

"That layer of barrier shield was built by Ovathrax to ensure it could smoothly absorb the power of the remaining weapons in Norfall Barrens."

On the way to the camp, Jiyan carried the heavily injured soldier from the Tacet Field on his back while thoughtfully providing explanations. Before long, they smoothly arrived at the camp.

"General, you're back, along with Noah and Yangyang."

Seeing that the one coming to greet them was Jianxin, Yangyang was somewhat surprised:

"Jianxin, how are you here?"

"Jianxin came to the frontline camp with the supply team. She has a calm disposition and exceptional martial prowess, helping me resolve quite a few troubles."

With Jiyan's proactive explanation, Jianxin nodded and smiled faintly:

"After learning about the events at the frontline, this humble Taoist requested the supply team to send Zhiyuan back to Jinzhou, while I chose to stay, wanting to contribute my strength."

Noah rubbed his chin and asked the question he, as a professional substitute player, had always been concerned about:

"Zhiyuan hasn't undergone training, so the camp personnel hoped he could return to Jinzhou. But you, little Taoist, haven't undergone training either. How did you manage to stay in the camp?"

"This..." Jianxin scratched her cheek, somewhat embarrassed:

"To be honest, Zhiyuan was originally unwilling to return to Jinzhou, so this humble Taoist sparred with him a bit. The camp officers were originally unwilling to let this humble Taoist help, so I found General Jiyan and sparred with him a bit..."

Noah understood.

No wonder Jianxin could become a member of the vanguard team in the plot—it turned out she had fought Jiyan, and her strength earned his recognition.

Although Jianxin hadn't received military training, it didn't prevent her from being specially recruited.

On the other side, Jiyan handed the soldier on his back to the camp medic and gestured for Noah and the others to follow him into the command center.

"We plan to launch the general assault when the Retroact Rain ceases. Time is urgent; I'll keep it brief."

Jiyan pulled up the battle map and began the mission briefing:

"The source creating the Tacet Discord tide is precisely that Ovathrax statue in Norfall Barrens."

"The Threnodian Ovathrax can reorganize and resurrect the frequencies of deceased Tacet Discords. This is the reason the Tacet Discord tide is endless, and also why we must launch this general assault."

"Now, Ovathrax's power has not yet fully recovered. This is a good opportunity for us to dismantle this source."

"The entrance terrain to Norfall Barrens is narrow, with cliffs on both sides forming an abyssal ravine. It can only be entered directly through the central valley bottom."

Noah listened solemnly to Jiyan's explanation, his mind beginning to review this key plot point.

In the plot, when Jiyan was making strategic plans, he very solemnly analyzed the pros and cons for Rover, hoping Rover would make the strategic decision.

Why would a battle-hardened general, when making strategies, cautiously seek the opinion of the amnesiac Rover at every turn?

Because Rover is the great Emperor of the Sonata! Without the Emperor's nod, how could Jiyan, as a subject, make decisions on his own in the Emperor's presence?

In the same scenario, Noah didn't think Jiyan would ask for his opinion at such a time.

"Noah, I hope you can participate in this strategy planning together with me." Jiyan said with a serious expression.

"Ah?"

Noah was slightly stunned, feeling warmth in his heart.

Old Jiyan really didn't treat him as an outsider! For something concerning the lives of Jinzhou and all the soldiers, he actually wanted to ask for his decision.

But one thing at a time. Noah knew time was pressing, and he had no intention of showing off with his foreknowledge of the plot at this moment. He immediately waved his hand:

"No need. General Jiyan should have his own decision. I'll just follow your command."

"Thank you for your trust."

Jiyan breathed a sigh of relief. He was afraid this powerful hero of Jinzhou would act on his own without listening to commands, which could place an extra burden on the entire army.

But seeing Noah's stance, Jiyan couldn't help but feel a great increase in goodwill toward him.

Having such a powerful reinforcement join would mean fewer casualties for all the soldiers.

Soon, Jiyan arranged the strategy.

The ranged combat squad would provide fire support from the high points on both sides of the canyon, while the melee combat squad would attack head-on.

The assault team consisting of Noah, Jiyan, Jianxin, and Yangyang would break through the gap when the melee squad created an opening, directly striking at the Threnodian's core.

To this, everyone, including Yangyang, had no objections.

A burst of static sounded, and Jiyan connected to the terminal. The caller was precisely Mortefi:

"General, Mr. Noah, there's good news and bad news."

"The good news is, I've successfully established contact with the Disruptor. The Engineer department is fully prepared; we only await your order to destroy the Threnodian's barrier."

"The bad news is, the Disruptor's charging device was damaged by Tacet Discords and needs repair."

Listening to Mortefi's message, Jiyan couldn't help furrowing his brows, about to ask if the Disruptor had backup energy.

But when he turned around, he discovered—Noah and Yangyang were gone!

"Huh?! When!"

He had been too focused on Mortefi's communication and hadn't noticed when Noah left the camp.

This was bad!

Jiyan's heart sank.

He had lost the hero of Jinzhou.

"General, did something happen?" Mortefi's surprised inquiry came from the terminal.

"Nothing. Hang up first; I need to find someone."

Jiyan picked up Lustrous Razor and was about to rush out of the camp in a hurry when he received another communication on his terminal.

It was from Yangyang.

He connected, and Yangyang's voice immediately sounded:

"General, Noah and I have already arrived at the Disruptor's position and are clearing the Tacet Discords surrounding it."

"What!"

Jiyan's eyes widened. For the first time, he felt that someone was more perceptive and proactive than him, this battle-hardened general.

He hadn't even had time to say he was going to resolve the Disruptor surrounded by Tacet Discords.

Yangyang's words continued:

"General, Noah found backup energy. The Disruptor has now begun charging. Noah asks you to contact Jinhsi in advance for permission to fire."

"Good, thank you for your hard work!"

Although surprised by Noah's swift actions, Jiyan did not forget his duties because of it.

He picked up his long spear and hurried toward the Disruptor's position while using his terminal to contact the Magistrate in Jinzhou City.

On the other side, at the Disruptor emplacement.

"The Disruptor has charged to 30%. The Tacet Discord tide... well done; the Tacet Discord tide has been repelled."

Amid Yangyang's surprised voice, Noah posed with Jinhsi's signature floral hand gesture to finish, the surging energy in his body gradually calming.

Not far away, a group of sentinels dragged their weary bodies over quickly, their faces full of gratitude:

"Thanks to your timely support. Really, I thought my brothers and I were going to die here."

"Rest well."

Noah let out a long breath. Looking at the battered midnight rangers before him, he handed over a Premium Revival Spray and patted the latter's shoulder:

"We will surely achieve victory. Everyone who has worked hard for it deserves to see that moment of victory."

He remembered that in the original plot, the soldiers here died right in front of Rover and Yangyang because they arrived too late, succumbing to severe injuries.

And this sentinel's regret—Noah remembered it clearly—was not being able to witness victory with his own eyes.

For the dead, people always sigh about the greatness of sacrifice, merely picking some words of praise to say, but Noah hoped everyone could live well.

These heroes defending home and country—if he could save them, he naturally wanted to save every one.

So he chose to skip listening to those plot points in the command center and rushed to provide aid quickly.

Fortunately, he made it in time.
