Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Fate and the Beast

"This is impossible!?"

The Beast Titan was both shocked and enraged, but the Beast Titan itself was not good at close combat. Its long arms could not deliver powerful punches, and its massive body also limited its agility.

As a result, the Beast Titan was pinned to the ground by Yago's Fate Titan and beaten violently.

Crack. The Fate Titan stopped its furious bombardment of the Beast Titan's nape and raised its arm. Through the Titan's eyes, Yago saw that his hardened fist had actually shattered. By contrast, the hardened skin on the Beast Titan's nape had only split open with a few cracks.

"Looks like I'm still not very good at using hardening," Yago thought to himself. But the situation on the battlefield changed in an instant. While Yago's Fate Titan's fist was recovering, the Beast Titan naturally would not miss such a perfect opportunity.

The Beast Titan suddenly lifted its still-incomplete but already recovering head.

"ROAR!!!"The soul-shaking roar seemed to make even space itself tremble.

Even the Fate Titan could not help but cover its ears.

Rumble, rumble. As the Beast Titan's howl ended, terrifying sounds immediately came from the surrounding forest.

The ground was shaking. The Fate Titan's crimson eyes instantly became alert—whoosh! A Titan moving at incredible speed suddenly charged out of the forest and slammed into the Fate Titan. The tremendous impact was something even the Fate Titan could not withstand, and it was sent flying.

Even more terrifying, one Titan after another rushed out of the forest. A total of seven Titans piled onto Yago's Fate Titan, forming a massive heap of Titans.

Meanwhile, a three-meter-class small Titan quietly circled around to the Beast Titan's neck.

...

"Yago!"

After placing the unconscious Mike on the rooftop, Annie—her face hidden beneath the Wings of Freedom cloak—turned her head and saw Yago being suppressed under a mass of Titans.

Instinctively, Annie triggered the mechanism on her ring. Just as the spike was about to pierce her finger, she remembered what Yago had told her before:

"Annie, before you're certain you can deal with all the Marley Titans, you absolutely cannot use the Female Titan's power, and you must not even participate in battles against the Marley Titans. Otherwise, once the Marleyans discover the Female Titan's betrayal, Mr. Leonhart's situation in the Eldian internment zone will become dangerous."

"But Yago, can you really handle this alone?"

"Annie, you have to trust me."

Yago's confident expression back then had deeply affected Annie. Hesitating, she moved her finger away from the spike and looked at the Titan heap with worry, silently praying,

"Yago, please don't let anything happen to you."

Annie's concerned gaze was fixed on Yago, and she didn't notice the small movement of the three-meter-class Titan near the Beast Titan's neck.

Boom! A Titan's body was blasted into the sky by a tremendous force, and the Titan heap was blown apart by the shock.

"ROAR!"

The Fate Titan broke free and immediately charged toward the spot where the Beast Titan had been lying.

However, all that remained there was a Titan corpse that had evaporated down to nothing but a skeleton.

"What?"

Yago froze. The Fate Titan raised its head. At the edge of the distant forest, a figure stood atop the back of a three-meter-class Titan, facing the setting sun. The glow of the sunset made it impossible for Yago to see the figure's face clearly; he only noticed two reflective points on it.

Yago didn't see what action the figure took, but a dazzling yellow bolt of lightning appeared, accompanied by a crisp ringing sound.

Within the yellow lightning, a seventeen-meter body gradually took shape—the fur-covered Beast Titan appeared once again.

Seeing the Beast Titan nearly a thousand meters away from him, Yago's expression immediately changed.

Crack, crack. Sure enough, the Beast Titan picked up several huge rocks from the forest's edge. Its broad palms kneaded the boulders into smaller stones.

"Try this!"

The Beast Titan assumed a pitching stance that Yago recognized from his memories as a baseball throw—whoosh!

As the Beast Titan hurled the stones with all its might, rocks of varying sizes tore through the air, emitting terrifying whistling sounds as they scattered toward Yago's Fate Titan and the residential area behind him.

Who would have thought that mere stones, in the Beast Titan's hands, could be as terrifyingly powerful as the garrison's defensive cannons?

The Fate Titan immediately turned and rushed toward the housing area, barely forming a thin layer of hardened skin on its back to shield Annie and the unconscious Mike.

Thud! Thud!

The dull sounds of stones piercing the Fate Titan's body rang out repeatedly. The hastily formed hardened skin was as fragile as paper before the terrifying speed of the stones.

When the barrage ended, numerous horrifying wounds covered the Fate Titan's body—half of its head had even been shaved away. The Titan's immense regenerative power was rapidly restoring its form.

"Huh? It's still not down. Well then, let's do it again!"

The Beast Titan picked up another boulder from the ground and began kneading it once more.

"Yago! Are you okay?"

Annie lifted her mask, her voice full of concern.

The Fate Titan's steam-shrouded head shook slightly, its eyes signaling to Annie. Perhaps because of their mental connection, Annie instantly understood Yago's meaning.

Dragging the unconscious Mike, Annie activated her Vertical Maneuvering Equipment and swiftly darted into the forest.

Seeing Annie leave, Yago finally let out a sigh of relief. Since Annie couldn't use the Female Titan's power, staying here would only distract him.

With no more worries behind him, Yago turned back around. The Fate Titan's recovery ability was astonishing—within a short time, it had already recovered most of its body.

The Fate Titan's crimson eyes met the Beast Titan's dark gaze.

Both felt the other's chilling killing intent.

"ROAR!"

The Fate Titan let out a furious howl. With both hands, it grabbed the Titan corpses it had just killed—bodies that had not yet fully evaporated—lifting them in front of itself as makeshift shields while charging madly toward the Beast Titan.

But a strange smile appeared on the Beast Titan's terrifying face as it once again assumed the baseball pitching motion.

"Can you block this stone?"

Whoosh!!

The dreadful whistling sound tore through the air again as countless fragments of stone screamed toward Yago.

The two Titan corpses were shredded almost instantly, and the remaining stones carved bloody gashes across the Fate Titan's body.

Bang!

A stone pierced the Fate Titan's knee, immediately causing it to lose balance and collapse to the ground.

The Beast Titan followed up with two more attacks, blasting the fallen Fate Titan's body until flesh and blood flew everywhere.

Under the relentless bombardment, the Fate Titan's body swayed a few times before crashing down completely.

Seeing that the Fate Titan had stopped moving, the Beast Titan finally ceased its attacks.

"Heh, still too young."

Looking at the fallen Fate Titan, the Beast Titan mocked coldly.
