'Ram–Boar–Sheep'
Danzo's hands flashed through seals; Izanagi activated in an instant.
He didn't probe and spar the way he had against Sasuke in the original story. Thanks to Uchiha Jin's rise, his stock of Sharingan was almost gone; he couldn't afford to waste them, so mid-range combat it had to be.
'Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves!'
In a heartbeat.
A flurry of scythe-like wind blades shot toward Kakashi.
Sweat dotted Kakashi's brow.
He could barely mold Chakra anymore; faced with such a fierce, swift attack, he had no way to resist.
But right then—
Shisui and Fugaku burst in. Shisui rushed Danzo with his longsword while Fugaku dragged Kakashi aside.
'Rest easy, Kakashi.'
'Leave the rest to us!'
With that said—
Fugaku looked at Danzo again, gaze locking onto the Sharingan running along the man's arm, and his eyes turned murderous.
Three-Tomoe Sharingan spinning, he rose and unleashed a Great Fire Dragon jutsu!
Danzo, locked in close-quarters with Shisui, narrowed his eyes; using Shisui's strike as leverage, he sprang back, dodged the dragon, and countered with a Vacuum Great Sphere.
Clearly—
Though he rarely fought these days, the battlefield had been his second home.
So even against two powerhouses like Shisui and Fugaku, conventional combat wouldn't bring him down quickly.
'Damn it!'
Danzo's gaze flicked about uneasily.
He hadn't expected New Konoha's support to arrive so fast—or that it would be Mangekyo Experts like Fugaku and Shisui.
Even if neither had unveiled their Mangekyo yet, he knew today would bring nothing good. Instantly he summoned the Baku, then spun and bolted through a hidden tunnel.
Yes—
Danzo understood that Old Konoha was finished; with New Konoha's Ninja on his tail, this base was lost.
He had hoped to kill Kakashi and carry off as many resources as possible.
Now, that chance was gone.
Danzo moved fast. The moment the Baku blocked the pair, he turned tail and ran.
'You're not escaping!'
Shisui roared.
Susanoo flared into being; one slash from its blade killed the Baku, and Fugaku sprinted in pursuit.
'Teikō Tsujihi, twenty-fold!'
To keep Danzo from fleeing, Fugaku spent Mangekyo power freely. Blood tears streaked his cheek as he slowed Danzo's speed twenty times.
Catching up, Fugaku beheaded him with a single sword strike.
'Elder Fugaku!'
Shisui caught up, unable to stop himself. 'He's… dead just like that?'
'No, not yet.' Fugaku shook his head. 'Izanagi.'
Indeed—
As he spoke, the corpse on the ground faded away.
Danzo reappeared on the other side. Freshly revived, he tried to activate Izanagi again while sprinting for the exit.
But this time—
Fugaku gave him no opening, casting Teikō Tsujihi once more—thirty-fold, a brutal drain on his eyes.
Even a three-seal sequence now crawled at a snail's pace.
Seizing the moment, Fugaku barked, 'Shisui, take the Sharingan!'
'On it!' Shisui answered.
In a blur of speed he severed Danzo's Wood Release arm, then plucked the old man's own eye from its socket.
Seeing it done, Fugaku shut his Mangekyo.
Aaaargh!
Danzo screamed; without a Sharingan to suppress it, the stump of his arm began turning to wood.
'Damn you!'
'You cursed Uchiha—if I die I'll drag you with me!'
'Pity Uchiha Jin isn't here!'
He knew he had lost his last trump card.
So—
Without hesitation he unveiled his final gambit.
'Reverse Four Symbols Seal!'
Black ink sprayed from Danzo's chest. Sensing danger, Shisui kicked him deep into the tunnel.
Seconds later—
With a shrill, despairing cry, Danzo sealed half the passage.
He had no choice.
In utter despair, his last resort had failed to take even a single enemy with him.
'Terrifying sealing technique…'
Fugaku exhaled sharply.
Shisui nodded in agreement—thankful he had kicked Danzo away, or both would have been dragged into the seal.
'Elder Fugaku!'
'What about this arm?'
Shisui lifted Danzo's wooden limb, looking questioningly at Fugaku.
After a moment's thought Fugaku sealed it with the Four Symbols Seal and tucked the scroll into his pouch.
Not long after—
When they returned, the Anbu skirmish was over.
Fugaku said, 'I'll take Kakashi back; handle things here, Shisui.'
'Understood.' Shisui nodded.
Then—
Fugaku hoisted Kakashi onto his back and headed for New Konoha, while Shisui, now in command of the Anbu, began sealing Root's supplies.
Meanwhile—
Utatane and Mitokado clans had slipped back into Old Konoha.
'Homura, we…' Utatane Koharu's voice was hoarse.
Mitokado Homura said nothing, looking utterly defeated.
After a long silence he finally spoke. 'Don't worry too much, Koharu. Though old Torifu refused to help, he still gave us a veiled warning.'
'Uchiha Jin probably doesn't intend to kill us, or they wouldn't just surround the Village.'
'Relax. Don't overthink it.'
Koharu could only sigh; she knew it herself.
Without Akimichi Torifu's subtle hint, she would never have ordered her clan to pull back, even at the cost of a last stand.
Yet her heart refused to settle.
While they talked, a Sarutobi clansman ran up. 'Elders Utatane, Mitokado—'
'Hokage-sama is still unconscious. Lord Asuma asks you to come and treat him.'
The two elders froze.
Hiruzen Sarutobi—unconscious?
Mitokado Homura spoke firmly, 'Let's go, Koharu.'
'All right.' Koharu nodded.
As head of the Medical Division her skills, though below Tsunade's, were still formidable.
She caught Homura's meaning: if they were trapped anyway, they might as well see whether Hiruzen had any hidden cards left.
If he did—excellent.
If not… they could only pray Uchiha Jin would show them mercy.
