Chapter 59 - Intellect breach

The mid-day heat over the orphanage yard is thick, but the Prodigies have turned the entire property into a localized sandbox of god-level conditioning.

Up on the terracotta shingles of the roof, Tae and Jax sit in a dual lotus position. Tae's Buddha Transformation is idling, casting a soft, golden geometric pattern over the roof, while Jax draws raw solar radiation down from the sun, his skin glowing like a white dwarf star as the two meditate in absolute, rhythmic silence.

Down in the yard, the chaotic energy is real:

Kd is leaning against a tree, showing off a terrifying new upgrade. His eyes have shifted into deep, crimson lenses—the Gaze of the Pandemonium King—unlocked during his recent trip to his demon realm. He looks at Ethan, and with a mere blink, the spatial coordinates around Ethan warp.

Ethan, unfazed, commands a dense cloud of Dark Matter to swallow the spatial distortion, neutralizing Kd's eye powers with a heavy, pitch-black void.

Near the fence, Ayden and Rashad are having a casual, earth-shaking contest to see who can punch harder. Ayden's silver God of Fighting aura flashes with localized gravity as he dents the air itself, while Rashad, his backpack humming efficiently, strikes with purified white kinetic force that sounds like a cannon shot.

Diego stands alone in the shade, pulling back the translucent string of his dark thought-energy bow, practicing his blind-spot targeting.

Floating exactly twenty feet above them all is Joseph. He's suspended upside down, his legs crossed, completely detached from gravity while reading eight thick books simultaneously. The books float in a perfect orbit around his head, their pages flipping at hyper-speed via his telekinetic processing. His glitchy grey eyes flicker from page to page, but beneath the surface, 99% of his brain is a digital war zone.

The Collapse of the Coalition

Inside Joseph's mental theater, the firewall grid suddenly goes ice-cold.

The catalog of variants—the Prototype, the Shadow-Draft, the minor timeline clones—are suddenly screaming. The Prime Clone, the absolute monster that brutally murdered Jay, Cygnus, and Rix at the factory, has broken his chains. He doesn't want to share the prison anymore. In a horrific feast of narrative data, the Prime Clone systematically murders and consumes every other variant inside Joseph's subconscious, absorbing their data signatures and compressing all of their power into a single, terrifying entity.

"System error," Joseph whispers aloud in the real world. The eight books instantly burst into digital ash.

A massive wave of disorientation hits Joseph's brain. The Prime Clone doesn't just attack the firewall; he re-authors Joseph's current thoughts, flooding his mind with sensory static and false memories of the factory incident. For a split second, Joseph forgets who he is. He forgets his own logic.

In that one moment of hesitation, the Prime Clone slams through the final partition.

Joseph's body stiffens in mid-air. The glitchy grey in his eyes is instantly wiped out, replaced by a deep, hollow, neon-black static. His face contorts into a wide, jagged, predatory grin that belongs entirely to the monster from the factory.

"Ah..." the Clone rasps, using Joseph's vocal cords to let out a sickening, quad-tone laugh. "The air out here tastes so much better when it isn't behind a firewall."

The Interception: Marcos Steps Up

Instantly, the peace shatters. Tae and Jax rocket off the roof, landing with a heavy boom that fractures the liquid glass floor. Kd's obsidian wings snap open, and Ayden's fists ignite with cosmic gravity. The entire family steps forward, ready to beat the Clone out of their brother's flesh.

"Stay back," a calm voice calls out.

Marcos steps forward, casually catching his soccer ball on his neck before letting it roll down his sleeve into his hand. His athletic frame is perfectly loose, his eyes fixed on the possessed Joseph. "You guys have been fighting this thing for years. It's personal for you, which means you're gonna swing wild. Let the new guy check his stats."

The Clone mocks him, using Joseph's time-deletion to instantly vanish from the sky. He reappears directly in front of Marcos, delivering a surgical, light-speed palm strike aimed at Marcos's throat.

Marcos is caught completely off guard. The Clone hits him with a combination of Joseph's Prideful Killer hand-to-hand style, amplified by the Clone's raw, multi-universal malice. Marcos takes a brutal hook to the ribs and a palm strike to the chest, sending him skidding across the yard, coughing up blood.

The Clone laughs, stepping forward as the space around him stutters. "Is this the replacement Tae found? Pathetic."

Marcos stands up, wiping the blood from his mouth, a confident, sharp smirk spreading across his face.

"Honestly? I just wanted to see how well you could use Joseph's body. You're fast, and you've got his timing down. But you don't own that muscle memory. I do."

The Awakening of the Soul Weapon

Marcos drops the ball to the ground. Instantly, the regular leather soccer ball begins to radiate a brilliant, emerald-green kinetic aura.

This isn't a normal item anymore. This is a Soul Weapon—a regular, everyday object that meant so much to Marcos during his life that his soul literally bound itself to the material, turning it into a conceptual tool. Just like Rashad's tactical backpack, Marcos can implement absolute, unhackable commands onto the ball's behavior.

Command 1: The Telepathic Tether. Marcos kicks the ball with a thunderous boom. It travels at Mach 50, tearing through the Clone's localized time-loops. The Clone tries to delete the timeline of the ball's trajectory, but the ball is conceptually bound to Marcos's soul—it exists outside the narrative draft.

The ball smashes into the Clone's shoulder, fracturing the aura. Before the ball can even bounce away, Marcos executes the command: Return. The ball telepathically curves through the air, defying physics, and snaps right back under Marcos's foot perfectly, ready for the next strike.

Marcos's Soul Abilities Unleashed:

1. "The Offside Trap" (Spatial Restriction): Marcos does a lightning-fast step-over, sending a wave of emerald energy across the grass. The ground mimics a soccer pitch. If the Clone tries to move forward into Marcos's zone, an invisible, absolute barrier slams into him, penalizing his movement and freezing his spatial coordinates for three seconds.

2. "The Golden Boot" (Kinetic Stacking): Every consecutive time Marcos passes or kicks the ball against the Clone without it touching the ground, the kinetic energy multiplies exponentially. By the fifth touch, the ball carries the weight of a tectonic plate.

Marcos goes to war. He becomes a fluid blur of athletic perfection, juggling, flicking, and launching the emerald sphere from angles the Clone's logic can't predict. The ball hits the Clone like a meteor, snaps back to Marcos's foot, and flies out again. The Clone is forced onto the defensive, using Joseph's time-control almost better than Joseph himself just to keep his head from being taken off.

"Damn, the soccer player is tuff!" Jax shouts, his solar aura flaring.

But Marcos is sweating. "I can pin him down!" he roars, saving the ball under his heel. "But I don't know how to get Joseph back! Every time I hit his body, I'm bruising our brother!"

The Psychological Conduit

Rashad steps forward, his hand already ripping the heavy straps of his tactical backpack open. "I've got an idea, but it's gonna hurt."

He yanks the Purification Tank off his back. Instantly, the unrefined, highly volatile purple-white mana explodes from his skin like a nuclear meltdown. Because it's unfiltered, the energy is deeply rooted in raw, chaotic Negative Emotion.

"Diego! Catch!" Rashad roars, redirecting the massive, burning stream of volatile negative mana straight toward Diego.

Diego rolls his eyes, looking thoroughly annoyed. "I really, highly dislike this family," he mutters. But he doesn't dodge. Diego opens his palms, his mind-palace technique acting as a vacuum. He absorbs Rashad's volatile negative energy, channeling it directly into his translucent bow.

Diego draws the string back, aiming not at Joseph's body, but at his forehead.

"Mind Palace: Synaptic Breach!"

Diego fires. The arrow of pure, concentrated negative energy pierces Joseph's skull without leaving a physical wound. Instead, it acts as a mental bridge, forcing Diego's consciousness directly into Joseph's locked subconscious.

Inside the Archive: The Rival's Push

Diego snaps his eyes open inside Joseph's mind. The subconscious landscape is a ruined, burning library. Digital books are on fire, and neon-black static fills the air.

Cowering in the center of the main archive room is the real Joseph. He's curled into a ball, his hands over his ears, looking terrified. The code around him is glitching.

"I can't calculate it," Joseph mutters frantically, his voice small and breaking. "The Prime Clone... his data parameters are infinite. I'm not smart enough to patch the firewall. I failed Cygnus, I failed Rix, and now I'm failing Tae. My logic isn't enough."

Diego walks into the burning room, his hands in his pockets, looking around with his classic, punchable smirk.

"Wow. Look at you," Diego says, his voice echoing through Joseph's soul. "The great 'Logician.' The Prideful Killer. Sitting in the dirt crying because a virus gave you a math problem you couldn't solve on the first try."

Joseph looks up, his eyes wide with anger. "Shut up, Diego. You don't understand what he is—"

"I don't care what he is," Diego interrupts, stepping right up to Joseph and looking down at him. "You think you're the only smart guy in the world? You're my rival, remember? I came to this orphanage to prove I'm the real brain of the Prodigies. If you let some secondhand narrative copy delete your mind, then what does that make me? A guy who beat a fraud?"

Diego reaches down, grabbing Joseph by the collar of his mental coat and hauling him to his feet.

"Stop trying to calculate the solution, you idiot. You're a Prodigy. You don't look for a backdoor—you delete the entire system and build a new one. Get your arrogant ass back out there. Your brothers are outside taking hits for you. Don't let a soccer player show you up."

Joseph stares at Diego. The words are harsh, insulting, and exactly what his pride needed. The terrified look in his eyes instantly vanishes, replaced by a cold, surgical violet light. The "Prideful Killer" wakes up.

"You're right," Joseph whispers, his voice dropping into that deep, terrifying aristocratic tone. "I am the Logician. And this is my drive."

The System Reboot

In the real world, the Clone is about to unleash a localized time-collapse to erase Marcos.

Suddenly, the neon-black static in Joseph's eyes fractures. A massive surge of surgical violet aura erupts from his chest, tearing through the Clone's narrative data from the inside out.

"GET OUT OF MY SEAT!" Joseph's voice roars—not the Clone's voice, but his.

With an absolute, multi-universal surge of mental willpower, Joseph deploys a brand-new, deep-layer Narrative Quarantine Protocol. He grabs the Prime Clone by its throat inside his mind and drags it down into the absolute lowest sub-basement of his subconscious, slapping a triple-layered, logic-enforced firewall over the door.

Joseph's body drops from the air, landing heavily on one knee in the dirt. The neon-black static is completely gone. His eyes return to their beautiful, slightly glitchy grey. He's breathing heavily, blood trickling from both nostrils, but he's entirely himself.

Diego snaps out of his trance, stumbling back as the thought-energy connection breaks, coughing from the strain. Rashad quickly snaps his backpack back on, the tubes flushing his mana clean once more as the yard calms down.

Joseph looks up, adjusting his non-existent glasses out of habit. He looks at Marcos, whose soccer ball is now spinning quietly on his finger, then at Diego, who is casually wiping sweat from his brow.

"The Prime Clone is quarantined," Joseph gasps, a small, arrogant smirk returning to his face despite his absolute exhaustion. "Partition 9.0 is holding. Thanks for the... psychological consultation, Diego."

Diego just scoffs, turning his back. "Don't flatter yourself, Archive. I just didn't want the new advisor seat to feel lonely."

Tae steps forward, his golden Buddha aura fading as he looks at his complete, unbroken team. "The script is back in order," Tae says, his smirk matching Joseph's. "Good job, boys. Now go clean up the yard."
