Chapter 108 - Ch. 108: And Make New Friends Along The Way!

"Ack! Bleeh! Blugh."

"Are you okay, Bulma?" Kakarot asked as Chichi rubbed the blue-haired teenager's back as she vomited over the edge of the Capsule Corp speedboat that they were currently riding in.

"I… have decided that the absolute worst way of travel on this entire PLANET is by boat!" Bulma complained, wiping vomit from her lips.

"Well, I heard that speedboats are the worst. Maybe if you had a bigger boat…?" Kakarot offered.

"Well I didn't BRING a bigger boat, did I?" Bulma shouted, "Check the GPS again. How far away are we?" She asked, slumping down into the nearest seat.

"Umm… We're about-" Chichi started, running up to the steering wheel to check the GPS. They'd temporarily stopped to let Bulma vomit.

"Still a couple of hours away." Kakarot answered from a seat near the bow of the boat, where Bulma had exiled him after he'd innocently offered to drive.

"Ohhhh…." The blue-haired teen groaned, as Chichi set off once more.

Bulma had started out driving, but after about an hour, she'd started to get seasick. An hour after that, she'd basically collapsed, letting Chichi take over.

As for WHY Chichi was with them in the first place, that was because of a little conversation that Kakarot had with the Ox King.

It'd gone something like this:

"You know, this little trinket here doesn't seem like a big enough present to you, for saving my entire castle! You sure that you don't want more, Kakarot?"

"No. I'm fine, really. Just glad to help."

"Oh, I know! How about I give you my daughter! You can marry Chichi! How about that?!"

"Oh, really, daddy?! That would be wonderful!" Chichi had interjected, stars in her eyes.

"Ummmmmmmmmmm...." Kakarot bit his lip, "That's a bit much, sir."

"You don't wanna marry me, Kakarot…?" Chichi's lower lip quivered.

Immediately, Kakarot's brain began thinking of excuses at lightning speed. "Umm… It's just… we barely know each other, you know? I don't think-"

"Whe-hll-hll! In that case, how about you go with him, Chichi? See the world a bit?!"

"Oh, really, daddy?! Are you sure?!" Chichi squealed.

"That way, you two can get to know each other! Wander the world together, maybe for a year or so! Doesn't that sound wonderful, Chichi?"

"Ooh, yes, daddy! It sounds amazing!"

"...Suuurree…" Unable to bring himself to reject the offer, he drew the word out.

And thus, the boy ended up with a traveling mate. For the next year or so, he would be responsible for Chichi's well-being as she followed him wherever he may wander.

At least he managed to convince her to wear a loose shirt over her bikini-like armor set.

They took Bulma's car south and then used one of her capsulized boats to take the water route east, toward the Celatian village.

Unfortunately, even at the far higher speed that the watery terrain could allow them to go at, getting to the Celatian village marked on the map would take them most of a day. They'd been driving for several hours now. At one point, Kakarot had even jumped out of the boat and started an impromptu underwater training exercise that nearly ended with his tail breaking the boat's propeller.

From then on, he simply occupied his time either chatting with Chichi while Bulma dry-heaved over the side of the boat, or tracking the other Saiyans' massively bright ki signatures with his mind.

Even from several hundred kilometers away, the power levels of those three Saiyans specifically, as well as the larger one, Tater, to the far north, shone so brightly that they made sensing other energy signatures beyond a certain range nearly impossible.

Oftentimes, Kakarot closed his eyes and sensed their energies while they trained, just to search for inspiration in his own training, or to enhance his own sensing skill.

Unfortunately, it wasn't much help. Honestly, most of the time, all he could tell was that they were alive, like a constant pressure on his mind. During their training, he could often find a bit of inspiration in how their powers exploded, condensed, or dropped, but today, that simply wasn't the case.

"So, Chichi. Have you ever trained, or is that power all natural?" Kakarot asked, to pass the time.

"Oh, my daddy's been training me since I was little! He taught me everything he knows! I'm super strong!" She boasted.

"Yeah, you are. Do you want to learn more?" Kakarot asked.

Chichi cocked her head, not expecting the question.

Honestly, she'd never really thought about that. To her, martial arts were simply… a part of her. Like walking, riding a bike, and learning how to swim. While she'd trained, she'd never really thought too hard about pursuing the path of a martial artist. All she really wanted to be was a housewife, to some amazing man.

…But if training would bring her closer to Kakarot…

"Are you offering to teach me, Kakarot?"

Kakarot's only reply was a shrug. He'd never really considered the question before "If I do, it won't be right now, at least."

"I'll have to remind you later, then." She replied with a ten thousand watt smile that somehow sent shivers down Kakarot's spine… Like he was being marked as prey or something.
