Chapter 149 - Chapter 149: Who’s Close With Her Anyway! (In Perfect Unison Edition)

"Aaaaaaahhh!!!"

Firefly screamed at the top of her lungs, but after a moment, the pain she had braced herself for never came.

"Hahahahahahahaha!"

Hearing the laughter ringing in her ears, Firefly slowly cracked one eye open. Standing right in front of her was Clara, doubled over laughing so hard she looked like she was about to cry.

"Clara!!!"

Seeing how close Clara was to laughing herself into a breakdown, Firefly immediately realized she had been tricked.

A wave of anger surged up inside her. She planted her hands on her hips, cheeks puffed out in a full sulk.

You could say she was angry, but it really did not show. If you said she was cute, though, that would be accurate from start to finish.

"Hehe?" Clara chuckled at the sight of Firefly being outrageously adorable.

"If you dare do that again, I'll… I'll… I'll bite you to death!!!"

Firefly opened her mouth, baring her teeth and putting on what she thought was a terrifying expression.

"Hmph." Clara snorted softly, clearly not taking the threat seriously.

"Hey, are you a dog or something?!"

The very next second, though, Clara felt a damp, stinging pain on her arm. She looked down to see Firefly with her teeth sunk right into her, and immediately yelped.

"I'm gonna kill you!"

Firefly spoke through clenched teeth, her words coming out garbled as she bit down.

"You brat, why are you acting like a little kid!" Clara reached out and pressed a hand on Firefly's head, trying to shove her away.

But Firefly was like she had been glued on with industrial-strength superglue. No matter how hard Clara pushed her off, Firefly would just switch spots and bite down again.

"I said I'll kill you!"

In just a few short minutes, five neat bite marks had appeared on Clara's arm.

"You really think I'm a pushover just because I haven't snapped yet?!" Clara finally lost her patience, a big stress mark popping up on her forehead.

She grabbed Firefly's arm and bit down hard.

"Come on, let's see who's scared of who!"

"Bring it on!"

And just like that, Clara and Firefly became a tangled mess, locked in mutual combat.

The battle was intense.

"They're really close."

Everything happening between Clara and Firefly was seen clearly by Kafka, who was standing off to the side.

Holding a slice of watermelon, she watched the fierce clash between Blade, Dan Heng, and Yanqing, then glanced back at Clara and Firefly, who looked like two puppies biting each other. Smiling faintly, she took a bite of her watermelon.

"I think I get it now."

"So this is what Clara meant by 'spectator munching on melon.'"

It felt like something strange had awakened deep within Kafka's soul.

"Ahem."

"Firefly, you must've been a dog in your past life!"

The scuffle did not last long, ending with Clara being completely overwhelmed in a one-sided defeat.

"Hmph. Then I should thank my past life."

"It taught me such a useful skill. One that lets me bite you to death, you jerk!"

Firefly huffed and shot Clara a fierce glare.

"Ugh…"

Faced with Firefly's cute yet menacing expression, Clara instinctively shuffled back a step.

Normally, Clara would not be afraid at all. That face was cute and nothing else.

But after getting viciously gnawed on like that, she could not help but feel a tiny bit traumatized.

"You're unbelievable…"

Clara looked down at her arm, now covered in bite marks and saliva, and wiped it with her clothes while grumbling.

"Hmph."

Firefly turned her head away and did the same, wiping the teeth marks and drool off her own arm.

"I should just start calling you Kid Firefly."

After cleaning herself up, Clara slapped an absolutely awful nickname onto Firefly.

"And who is Kid Clara calling a kid?"

Firefly refused to back down and, copying Clara's naming style, fired back with an equally awful nickname.

Then she gave Clara a long, meaningful once-over and smiled.

"Besides, at your height, even if you said you weren't a kid, nobody would believe you."

Firefly snickered, dealing a devastating blow straight to Clara's heart.

Kid Firefly used the skill: 'Lies Don't Hurt, Truth Is the Sharpest Blade.'

Critical hit. Damage: 99,999.

The skill dealt fatal damage to Kid Clara. Kid Clara entered critical condition and was inflicted with Silence.

Clara: …

Clara lowered her head, face dark, and fell silent for a long moment.

"What, hit a sore spot?" Firefly looked at her expression, clearly flirting with disaster.

"Oops, sorry. My bad."

"I apologize, Kid Clara."

"I'll buy you some candy. Forgive me, okay?"

Clara: …

After breaking a weakness, Kid Firefly launched a follow-up attack, dealing an additional ten thousand points of super-break damage.

"Heh heh heh… heh heh heh…"

Suddenly, the sound of teeth grinding echoed through the air.

"Huh? Where's that grinding noise coming from?" Firefly looked around in confusion, then locked her gaze onto Clara.

The moment Firefly looked at her, Clara hopped and lunged straight at her.

Distracted by the sound just now, Firefly did not react in time and was pinned to the ground.

"A kid, huh? A kid, huh? A kid, huh?"

Clara straddled Firefly, looking down at her from above. Firefly was sprawled on the ground, still a bit dazed.

"I'll bite you to death!"

Clara did not give her any time to recover and chomped down on Firefly's cheek.

(P.S. Literally bit.)

"Aaaaaaahhh!!!"

Feeling a sudden wet, stinging sensation on her cheek, Firefly screamed.

"I take it back. You're not Kid Clara."

"You're Puppy Clara!!!"

Firefly tried to push her away, but no matter how hard she struggled, Clara's mouth stayed glued to her cheek.

Worse still, every attempt to shove her off earned Firefly another solid chomp.

That said, maybe Clara was doing it on purpose. The bite was not very hard, so it did not actually hurt much.

But the feeling…

It was unbearable.

"If you don't get off right now, don't blame me for being rough!"

Firefly warned her, barely holding back her fury.

"Make me!"

Firefly: #

"Three."

"Two."

"One."

"Aaaah!"

After counting down and getting no response, Firefly bit straight down on Clara's collarbone.

And just like that, Clara was biting Firefly's cheek, Firefly was biting Clara's collarbone, and neither of them was willing to give in, locked in a ridiculous stalemate.

"They're really close."

Watching another round of battle between the two "puppies," Kafka somehow produced a glass of red wine and took an elegant sip.

"Who's close with her anyway!" the two of them shouted in perfect unison.
