Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: If You Can Get It for Free, Why Spend Money?

"Oh? Then Miss Clara, do you happen to know what that woman looked like?"

"Didn't I already say it? I only know there were two people, a man and a woman. The man had blond hair. Other than that, I know absolutely nothing."

Clara spread her hands, her face full of innocence, as if everything she said were unquestionably true.

"I see." Hearing this, Jing Yuan nodded and did not press the matter any further.

"The two of you have traveled a great distance to reach the Luofu. May I ask if you have already found lodging?"

"If not, perhaps I could take care of that for you."

"What do you think?" Jing Yuan smiled warmly, like a spring breeze, as though he were sincerely considering their accommodations.

"Then we'll be in your care, General Jing Yuan."

Clara naturally understood what little schemes were running through Jing Yuan's mind.

She just did not care, so she agreed without hesitation.

If you can freeload, why pay?

That was a life principle Clara lived by.

"Very well. Leave your lodging to me," Jing Yuan promised with a smile.

"I guarantee you will stay in the most luxurious and safest residence in all of the Luofu."

"Many thanks, General Jing Yuan." Clara nodded, then continued, "If you have no other matters to attend to…"

"Then we'll be taking our leave."

"Please, go right ahead." Jing Yuan kept smiling as he extended a hand, guiding them out.

Clara glanced at him once, then took Firefly's hand and left the Divine Foresight.

Before she stepped out, however, she cast a brief look toward a certain corner inside.

She said nothing. One look was all it took before she turned and left.

"Fu Xuan, Fu Xuan… honestly." After Clara was gone, Jing Yuan rubbed his forehead, clearly exasperated.

Fu Xuan: …

"Wasn't it because I was afraid you'd end up fighting with that Clara…"

As Jing Yuan's words fell, Fu Xuan slowly emerged from the corner Clara had glanced at earlier.

"Fu Xuan, I hate to say this, but you eavesdropping like that only creates more trouble for me," Jing Yuan said, shaking his head with a sigh.

"If Miss Clara were to take offense at this, the Luofu would be in serious trouble."

"I… I'm sorry…" Hearing this, Fu Xuan finally realized how serious her actions had been. She bit her lip and apologized softly.

"Fu Xuan, apologizing to me is pointless. You should be apologizing to Miss Clara." Jing Yuan sighed again, walked up to Fu Xuan, and patted her shoulder before passing by her and heading out of the Divine Foresight.

"General, I…" Fu Xuan looked at his back, wanting to say something.

But Jing Yuan had no intention of listening and left without turning back.

Fu Xuan was left alone in the empty hall, head lowered, lost in thought.

"An apology… what does it even mean to truly apologize…"

"That person named Fu Xuan earlier, are we just going to ignore her?" After leaving the Divine Foresight, Firefly asked Clara curiously.

"Why should we bother with her?" Clara shot back.

"We didn't come here to cause trouble. If she wants to watch, let her watch."

"But being under someone else's surveillance the whole time…"

"Ah, it's fine. Let them watch."

"It's just ordinary monitoring. It won't affect us anyway."

Clara waved her hand dismissively at Firefly.

"Besides, Firefly, why do you think they'd even send people to watch us?"

"Believe it or not, not only will they stop monitoring us, but that Grand Diviner from the Divination Commission, Fu Xuan, will even come and apologize in person."

Clara raised an eyebrow at Firefly, as if daring her to take that bet.

"I believe you."

Firefly trusted Clara completely. Anything Clara said, she believed without hesitation.

"As long as it's something you say, Clara, I'll always believe it unconditionally." Firefly reached out and gently patted Clara's head, her face full of affection.

Of course, that did not apply to who was on top.

Clara: …

"Tch. No sense of fun at all," Clara muttered under her breath. Feeling Firefly's hand running through her hair, her cheeks flushed slightly.

"That's because I'll always believe in you, Clara." Firefly laughed softly, utterly entranced by the silky softness of Clara's hair.

"Hmph." Clara let out a small snort, but her heart felt inexplicably warm.

Firefly might not be the brightest, but she really did have a knack for sweet-talking girls.

Clara shook her head, snapped out of her thoughts, and slapped the hand that was still ruffling her hair before grabbing it and holding it tight.

"Come on, come on, let's eat!"

"Huh? Didn't we just eat our way through an entire street?" Firefly asked, puzzled.

"Yeah, that was just now." Clara saw nothing wrong with her logic.

"That was then. This is now. You can't compare just now with now, Firefly."

She gave a light snort, tightened her grip on Firefly's hand, and broke into a run.

"Go, go, go!"
