"Hello, you two. Could you please show me your identity information? I'll process a temporary ID for you both."
Inside the Divination Commission of the Xianzhou Luofu, a pretty foxian lady tapped on the screen displayed by the Jade Abacus, then asked Clara and Firefly for their identification.
"Uh…" Hearing this, the two fell silent.
Identity information? Forget that, neither of them had any proper identity across the entire universe…
Essentially, everyone's identity info was recorded by the Interastral Peace Corporation. The rest, mostly held by top-tier factions like the Xianzhou Alliance, managed their own records.
Their identity information was logged through the Jade Abacus system.
Of course, neither the Interastral Peace Corporation's system nor the Xianzhou Alliance's Jade Abacus system contained any records for these two.
'Next time I visit the Interastral Peace Corporation, I should just get an identity sorted out~'
Clara thought to herself, confident that with her silver tongue (read: threats of force), the IPC would surely agree~
"Ahem… you two, could I see your identity information, please?" The beautiful foxian lady, thinking they hadn't heard, repeated herself.
"Um… well… we lost our identification while visiting the Luofu…"
Firefly racked her brain for a moment before coming up with a classic excuse.
"I see." The foxian lady nodded, not pressing further.
She tapped the screen a few times, took out a piece of paper, and handed it to them, saying:
"Then I'll issue you a temporary ID. Just sign your names here."
"Thank you!" Firefly's face lit up with joy. She took the paper and looked at it.
Then her smile froze…
Because…
Firefly couldn't read!
And Clara beside her clearly knew this but offered no help. A playful glint in her eyes suggested she was waiting to see Firefly squirm.
Firefly: …
"Clara… you write it…" Firefly handed the paper to Clara.
Looking at the paper, Clara didn't give her too hard a time, especially with others present.
Wasting Firefly's time was one thing, but wasting someone else's? That was a bigger deal. Hehe.
She understood the priorities.
Clara took the paper and read:
[Name:
Affiliated Star System, Planet, Faction:]
Simple and concise. No lengthy forms just because they'd lost their IDs.
As expected of the Xianzhou Alliance, huh?
Clara sighed inwardly, then picked up a pen and swiftly filled in the information.
Name: Liutong, Qingying
Affiliated Star System, Planet, Faction: Clara Space Station.
When filling in the faction, Clara hesitated for a moment—make one up on the spot, or…?
After some thought, she finally wrote 'Space Station.' That way, if any issues arose later, she could ask Herta for help.
Not that any issues were likely.
As for the names… anyone with half a brain could see through them.
But it didn't matter if they did. She'd come to the Luofu openly anyway, so why hide?
The very reason she and Firefly were here getting IDs was to inform the Luofu's higher-ups that the great Miss Clara had arrived on their turf!
Hmph… it definitely wasn't just to get an ID so they could exchange Credits for Strale and then go buy delicious food to eat.
Definitely not!
'Damn Luofu banks, why do they need an ID for exchange?' Clara grumbled internally.
"Alright, please wait a moment."
Clara handed the filled form to the foxian lady, who glanced at it, registered the identities into the Strale system, nodded, and then handed two small cards to Clara and Firefly.
She then explained:
"These are your temporary identification cards for the Luofu. Apart from matters like buying property or vehicles, which require approval from the Divination Commission, they function no differently from standard IDs."
"Ah?" Hearing this, Clara and Firefly both blinked in confusion.
They found the foxian lady's words hard to believe.
If someone from another Xianzhou came to the Luofu, this might be normal. But Clara and Firefly were outsiders. They hadn't provided a shred of proof, only verbal statements.
And yet they received what seemed like the highest-tier temporary ID?
Apart from major purchases like property, it worked just like a regular ID. What else could this be but a top-level temporary pass?
"..."
Clara guessed a possibility. Using the power of Remembrance, she skimmed through the foxian lady's memories from the last few hours of her shift.
Ah~ So that's it.
Once she understood the reason, Clara didn't dwell on it further. Taking the temporary IDs, she took Firefly's hand and prepared to leave.
"Hey, Clara… they've recognized us, haven't they?" Firefly asked worriedly as they walked.
"Yep." Clara didn't hide it from her.
"What do we do? Should we…" Firefly leaned close to Clara's ear, whispering as if suggesting they make a run for it.
"What do we do? What else is there to do?" Clara gave Firefly a puzzled look.
"We came to get IDs to exchange for some Strale, right?"
"Right now, we're obviously going to exchange for some Strale and then…"
"Eat up!!!"
Clara recalled the street full of delicious food she'd seen earlier, and an unworthy tear trickled from the corner of her mouth.
Firefly: …
"Are you sure… it's okay?"
"What could possibly go wrong?" Clara shot back.
"Sky's vast, earth's vast, but food reigns supreme!"
