"What are you doing?"

Clara pulled the door open, looking down at Silver Wolf who hadn't reacted in time and now lay sprawled on the floor. She posed the question, though it felt more symbolic than serious.

"Aha, I… I was just passing by, would you… believe that?"

Silver Wolf pushed herself up, hastily offering an explanation.

Seeing the lingering flush on Clara's face, Silver Wolf realized she had probably interrupted something between the two of them…

Both Clara and Firefly… she really couldn't afford to offend either of them…

Ugh…

I'm done for.

Reload save!

Silver Wolf screamed internally, but seeing the completely unchanged surroundings around her, a headache set in. Games were games, reality was reality.

Even though she treated reality like a game, reality was locked on extreme difficulty mode, with no reload function…

"Care to guess whether I believe you or not?" Clara tilted her head, her face still rosy, her expression neutral, her gaze fixed on Silver Wolf, putting immense pressure on her.

"I… I suppose you do…" Silver Wolf forced a smile at the words, then shot a pleading look at Kafka beside her, as if begging for help.

Seeing this, Kafka gave a soft smile, took a small step forward, and began to speak slowly.

Watching Kafka's movement, Silver Wolf's heart leapt with joy, instantly feeling saved.

But the words that came out of Kafka's mouth next plunged Silver Wolf straight into despair.

"Though I don't know how much Silver Wolf overheard, the moment I got home, I saw her crouched here listening."

"Seems she caught your entire conversation from start to finish."

Silver Wolf: ?

Seriously, girl, do you actually want me dead…

But Silver Wolf had no time to complain about Kafka now. Seeing Clara's expression growing darker by the second, she hurriedly spoke up, trying to salvage the situation.

"Actually, the door's soundproofing is really good. I didn't hear anything."

"Didn't hear a thing…"

Silver Wolf offered a sheepish grin, still trying to struggle free.

"So… you admit you were pressed against the door, eavesdropping, then?" Clara smiled, looking at Silver Wolf with a great deal of "kindness."

"Uh…" Hearing this, Silver Wolf immediately choked up, feeling like she'd dug her own grave…

Judging by Clara's earlier reaction, she probably didn't have any solid evidence. There were no cameras installed in the house, so Clara couldn't find proof.

If Silver Wolf just denied it to the death, Clara couldn't really do anything to her.

But Clara not being able to do anything has nothing to do with Firefly.

I shall set Silver Wolf ablaze!!!

But reality offered no save or reload opportunities. Even if she'd dug herself a huge pit, she had to jump in and fill it up…

"I… I already said, I was just passing by."

"I saw some dust on your door and thought I'd clean it for you." Silver Wolf continued to be stubborn, refusing to admit it.

Though, looking at Clara's expression, she didn't seem too angry.

But the expression on Firefly behind her…

Thick, dark aura was radiating from her entire body, almost condensing into something solid…

Her eyes were filled with murderous intent fixed on Silver Wolf, as if she couldn't wait to eliminate this nuisance on the spot.

But perhaps because Clara and Kafka were also present, Firefly didn't immediately act out, suppressing it instead.

Silver Wolf: …

Help me, I'm just a lousy gamer, waaah~

Silver Wolf felt like crying inside. Though she knew the murderous intent in Firefly's eyes was just a warning—she wouldn't actually kill her—she definitely wouldn't escape a severe beating.

Yeah, a severe beating. What counted as severe?

Silver Wolf didn't know…

But it was absolutely more terrifying than the time Sparkle was tied up by Clara and tickled as torture…

Feeling Firefly's gaze on her, Silver Wolf shuddered internally.

No, no, I have to drag someone down with me…

That's what Silver Wolf thought. While sharing the burden between two people versus bearing it alone didn't really change the problem, at least she'd have company.

With that in mind, Silver Wolf shifted her gaze to Kafka, then smiled, looking back at Clara.

Kafka: ?

"Clara, the door's soundproofing really is excellent. When I was wiping the dust off the door, I couldn't hear a single word of what you were saying inside the room."

"If you don't believe me, ask Kafka."

Silver Wolf dug a pit for Kafka, waiting for her to jump in and become her "accomplice."

Hearing this, Kafka couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle.

How could Silver Wolf's little scheme fool Kafka? The moment Silver Wolf's words left her mouth, Kafka understood exactly what she was trying to do.

Kafka spoke slowly, unhurried:

"As for how good the door's soundproofing is, I don't know."

"But, when I was purchasing it, the shopkeeper told me the door's soundproofing was quite decent."

"As long as you don't press against the door to listen, don't stick your ear to it, even if you're standing right in front of it, you shouldn't hear any sound from inside at all."

After speaking, Kafka even flashed a smile at Silver Wolf.

As if to say, bet you didn't expect this, I'm the one who picked the door.

Silver Wolf: …

"Hmm." Clara nodded, shifting her gaze back to Silver Wolf.

"Anything else you'd like to explain?"

Actually, Clara had seen everything Silver Wolf and Kafka were doing outside the door.

Though Kafka had also pressed against the door to listen for a bit, that was only under Silver Wolf's lead, not an intentional act on her part.

But Silver Wolf had basically been eavesdropping from the moment Firefly entered her room…

From when she and Firefly were talking about the limited-edition pillow…

So, Silver Wolf was the real culprit here.

As for whether you could hear by pressing against the door?

If you pressed your ear to it, you could definitely catch intermittent sounds.

And how did Clara know?

Well, of course, because she and Kafka had bought this door together.

Back then, Clara had also wanted to buy a door with exceptional soundproofing, but she was just too broke, waaah~ No choice, had to settle for one that wasn't particularly great…

But now she had money. It was time to get a door with maxed-out soundproofing…

For when she and Firefly…

No, no… what was she thinking…

Clara scolded herself silently.

Actually, to be honest, Clara wasn't really angry about Silver Wolf eavesdropping by the door and interrupting what was happening earlier. In fact, she was somewhat grateful…

Otherwise, back then, she really would have been… by Firefly…

Clara didn't know what she had been feeling at that moment… anticipation? Panic? Fear?

Clara didn't know…

But what Clara did know was that she hadn't been ready…

So, she was quite thankful for Silver Wolf's actions…

However.

Thanks are one thing, eavesdropping is another.

You pressed against my door to eavesdrop. For that, you're definitely not getting off easy!

But to thank you, I'll just make sure you get a slightly nicer rotten fruit, hehe~

But still…

Clara's gaze flickered slightly, taking in the intense dark aura and combat-ready stance of Firefly beside her. She could only offer a silent prayer for Silver Wolf in her heart.

"Don't worry, Silver Wolf, I'll inherit your gaming accounts when you die."
