I snapped suddenly, as Adrein kept on talking again while leaning on the cold stone wall, because I couldn't sit on the cold floor and listen to Adrein drown in his own regret for another second.
"Shut up, Adrein!" I barked, my voice cracking as I slammed my hand down on the edge of the leather cot. "Just shut the hell up!"
Adrein flinched, looking up at me with pale, hollow eyes, but I didn't care. I couldn't afford his despair right now. Maria was shivering violently beneath the heavy fur blanket, her skin turning an unnatural, translucent blue under the faint moonlight.
