I kept smiling, keeping a pleasant look on my face while I waited for Daniel to arrive. Even though my mind was racing with different thoughts, I made sure my expression remained calm and relaxed. I had already put on my mask, hiding my true emotions completely behind a fake smile, and I had processed all the words thoroughly in my head. I knew exactly what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it, planning every single sentence so I wouldn't make any mistakes during our conversation.
Moments later, the heavy door opened, and Daniel stepped inside the room. As soon as he noticed me, he stopped and he bowed his head respectfully, showing the proper manners expected of him. It was a polite gesture, the kind he always gave, but it did nothing to calm the sudden anger rising inside me.
But I frowned, the fake smile instantly dropping from my face as a sharp realization hit me.
