Chapter 72 - Return, Settlement

"Shen Wulong actually lost?! How is that possible?!"

The Devourer let out a shrill, almost hysterical roar. His face twisted as Raian closed in behind him. He hastily tossed out a binding-type control item to stall Raian, then made a decisive move—leaping straight off the rooftop. From his storage space, he pulled out a glider and hooked onto it with one hand.

Even though Kurosaki Rei looked to be in terrible condition right now, he was still a monster who had killed Shen Wulong. The Devourer didn't have the slightest bit of courage to go down there and fight him.

Besides, Raian wasn't weak either. If they really fought, he might not even be Raian's match.

Suspended in midair, he cast a glance at Kurosaki Rei below.

"You're strong—but the times have changed."

He didn't know what Shen Wulong had been thinking at the very end, but Shen Luohan had made preparations from the start. The military forces deployed offshore by the Merchant of Death were about to move—missiles would soon wash Wu Village clean.

He had once complained about the Worm's absurd settings in this world, but now he was grateful for them. Once nuclear weapons fell, no matter how strong Kurosaki Rei was, he would be reduced to ashes.

All he needed to do was escape this place as quickly as possible. As long as Kurosaki Rei died, he would still be the ultimate winner in this world.

"Bakudō No. 30 — Shitotsu Sansen."

Just as he imagined Kurosaki Rei being obliterated by nuclear fire, a low voice sounded from below.

In the next instant, three massive, beak-shaped beams of light shot out, pinning his hands and waist to the wall. Even with his decent Strength attribute, he couldn't break free.

Kurosaki Rei slowly lowered his hand, a chilling smile spreading across his face.

"You didn't seriously think I had no long-range attack methods at all, did you?"

During his battle with Shen Wulong, he hadn't used Kidō—not because he was adhering to some martial code of honor and insisting on winning purely through blades, but because Shen Wulong's combat experience was immense and his evasion abilities terrifying.

Low-level Bakudō was useless against Shen Wulong, while stronger ones had slow casting times. Using them in battle would easily expose an opening—and against Shen Wulong, exposing an opening was fatal.

Now that Shen Wulong was dead, and since Kurosaki Rei had mainly fought using his physical body, he still had a fair amount of Soul Source left. Even in his current state, killing the Devourer wasn't difficult.

Under the stunned gazes of both the Devourer and Raian, Kurosaki Rei raised his hand again and began chanting softly:

"Scattered beast bones! Sharp tower, red crystal, wheels of steel!

The moving is wind, the still is heaven—"

Bound in place, the Devourer listened to Kurosaki Rei's incantation, felt the terrifying energy gathering in his hand, and roared while struggling desperately:

"Fuck your mother—are you really using Bleach skills in the Kengan world?!"

Kurosaki Rei's gaze remained locked on the violator pinned to the high-rise, his voice calm as he continued the incantation.

"—The sound of spears clashing echoes through the empty city!

Hadō No. 63 — Raikōhō!"

As the chant ended, accompanied by thunderous roaring, a thick pillar of lightning shot out and slammed into the Devourer.

There was no suspense at all.

This was a killing blow unleashed with all his remaining Soul Source. Even Shen Wulong wouldn't have been able to take a Hadō of this level head-on. The moment the lightning struck, the Devourer's body disintegrated completely.

Hearing the mission completion notification by his ear, Kurosaki Rei finally relaxed. His body, on the verge of collapse, and his nearly depleted Soul Source made his vision spin. This was the first time he'd used such a high-level Hadō in real combat—it was truly exhausting.

High-level Hadō demanded a great deal of spiritual pressure. With his current "spiritual pressure," forcing out a spell of this tier was still too much.

But he couldn't let the violator escape. It had to be a guaranteed kill—otherwise, who knew what kind of trouble would come later?

"Cough… cough…"

Kurosaki Rei spat out several mouthfuls of blood. The extreme overload of the Demon-God state had left him severely injured. Fortunately, all his missions were complete—once he returned to the Space, everything could be healed.

He forced himself to stand straight, sweeping his gaze around. He met the eyes of the Wu Clan members rushing over, smiling as he waved at them.

"Until we meet again."

With that, Kurosaki Rei silently thought, 'Terminus, return.'

At the same time, offshore near Japan, several contrails shot into the sky, colliding and blooming into brilliant fireworks high above.

Katahara Metsudo stood on the beach, leaning on his cane and admiring the sight. A smile crept across his aged face.

"Never underestimate the power of a nation, you insects."

He turned toward the direction of Wu Village.

"So then, my strongest Fang—have you conquered the pinnacle of this world?"

...

A flash of white light passed, and Kurosaki Rei landed in his room.

[Detected: Pioneer has 18 severed tendons, 9 cracked bones, multiple internal hemorrhages… Vitality below 30%. Initiating treatment…]

In the next moment, Kurosaki Rei floated into the air, a cool sensation enveloping his body. He actually wanted to protest.

Because he'd planned to wait until his Soul Source recovered a bit and heal himself with Kaidō—saving a chunk of Terminus Coins.

But the Terminus Space was tyrannical, giving him no choice at all and starting treatment directly.

After some time, Kurosaki Rei landed again, feeling completely refreshed—as if fully restored.

[This treatment consumed 1123 Terminus Coins, automatically deducted from the Pioneer's balance.]

Kurosaki Rei almost cursed the Space for forced transactions, but after moving his limbs and feeling how incredibly good his body felt—far better than his own Kaidō healing—he decided to let it go.

"Terminus, settlement."

Right now, settlement was the priority. Kurosaki Rei was extremely curious about the rewards for this world—after all, he had single-handedly cleared the Kengan world, and quite efficiently at that.

Explorer level increased. Now lv.7.

[Based on overall performance, you may select four of the following seven rewards:]

13 free attribute points

B. 30,000 Terminus Coins

C. Purple Random Equipment Chest

D. Purple Random Item Chest

E. Inheritance Crystals (Small) ×10

F. Title Upgrade Privilege (Rare)

G. Rare Random Bloodline Chest

The rewards this time were far richer than in the previous world—not only were there more options, but he could also choose more of them.

After some thought, although Kurosaki Rei didn't think his luck was bad, he felt gambling on loot boxes was too unreliable and excluded those options.

In the end, he chose A, B, E, and F—the most stable, high-yield combination.

Thirty thousand Terminus Coins was no small sum. With the extra income from that generous female explorer earlier, even after deducting the treatment costs, he still had 41,000 left—enough to buy some quality items on the market.

Since his rate of improving proficiencies through practice was already quite fast, he didn't plan to use the Inheritance Crystals on specializations for now. Whether he would sell them or use them on special skills would depend on what the Origin Seed ability turned out to be.
