Chapter 164: Soul Impact
Akame and Kurome sat on the bed, quietly reminiscing about their childhood. Suddenly, a figure appeared out of thin air. Akame instinctively grabbed Murasame, shielding Kurome behind her.
"Don't be nervous, Sister," Kurome said, gently holding her hand.
Akame then realized it was Aoki. But how did he get in? The doors and windows were all locked, and she hadn't sensed any movement at all.
"Was it a success?" Kurome stood up.
"Very well," Aoki nodded, then looked toward Akame. "Akame, you're here. It seems you brought good news."
Akame said earnestly, "We agree to your proposed deal."
Aoki's expression turned serious. "I must remind you, those four Super Danger Beasts are extremely strong. One of you might perish during the hunt."
"Kurome has already told me about them," Akame said calmly. "Since we agreed to the deal, we're prepared to pay any price."
"Okay! It's settled then!" A smile appeared on Aoki's face. This increased their chances of success significantly. However, it still wasn't enough.
Akame asked curiously, "Where exactly are those four Super Danger Beasts? I haven't heard of such a terrifying place within the Empire."
Aoki replied, "They aren't in this country, but don't worry, I have a way to get there." He had left several spatial imprints in that secret realm. Even though those beasts had spatial power, they didn't have total control over that dimension like a progenitor might.
Akame didn't press further, saying, "Our Boss would like to invite you and Kurome to the base as guests to discuss the assassination of the Minister and the hunt."
"Going to Night Raid's base?" Aoki pondered. "I'd be honored, but I'll need a couple of days to take care of some things first."
Kurome said happily, "That's perfect! Night Raid gave you a few days off anyway, Sister, so we can go together in a few days."
Aoki chuckled, "Night Raid is quite considerate."
After saying goodbye, Aoki vanished into his alternate dimension. Akame stared at the spot where he had been. Again, she hadn't noticed any sound or energy ripple.
"Sister, this is Aoki's special ability," Kurome said with a smile.
Akame asked, "Is it a Teigu? One that changes appearance and moves through space?"
"No, Sister!" Kurome shook her head. "Aoki isn't a Teigu user!"
"Not a Teigu user?" Akame was truly surprised. She knew strength wasn't tied only to those weapons, but Aoki's abilities were so extraordinary she assumed it had to be an Imperial Arm.
Kurome lay her head on Akame's lap. "Aoki is a very powerful person. If there is a chance in the future, I will tell you more, Sister."
Inside the alternate dimension, Aoki went directly into the laboratory. The walls were lined with fifteen captives from the Imperial Fist Temple. None were as strong as the Rakshasa Four, but their physiques were elite—especially the last eight.
"Let's begin!"
Aoki started the process of turning them into demons and then devouring them for XP.

Upon devouring the 15th and final demon, he had leveled up for the third time in a single session.
"Another 3 levels... what a harvest!" Aoki looked at the notifications, feeling the surge of power.

Aoki had gained a total of 11 skill points (4 from devouring, 7 from leveling up). He immediately spent 6 points to learn Soul Impact.
As the knowledge flowed into him, his eyes grew brighter. Soul Impact was even more powerful than he imagined. It was a direct attack on the soul—completely undefendable. Even enemies much stronger than him would be staggered or damaged.
However, it was taxing. He could only use it three times a day without injuring himself, and it required a cooldown between uses. Most importantly, its power was directly tied to his Intelligence attribute.
Finally, he had a skill that fully utilized his high mental stats.
