Chapter 81 - Chapter 82

  Chapter 82 Mental Collapse

Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Moons all wore grim expressions.

They had worked tirelessly for most of the day, and success was within reach, but the enemy had suddenly become energetic again.

This blow was too much for their mental fortitude.

  More importantly,

  they couldn't understand

how the traitor had managed it.

Devouring demons, traversing space, and now demonstrating the ability to recover stamina—why was the traitor so special, even though they were all demons?

Even Muzan Kibutsuji was beginning to doubt his own existence as a demon.

In his thousand years of life, he had never seen a demon as unique as the traitor.

However, this only strengthened his resolve to capture the traitor.

If he could capture the traitor, all these secrets would be his!

  *Rip!

  * Muzan Kibutsuji's clothes tore, and whips emerged from behind him.

  ...

The river flowed slowly, a small bridge spanning its two ends.

Two figures appeared on the small bridge. On the left was a white-haired, spiky-haired youth with his chest exposed and his body covered in scars. The other youth wore a two-tone haori, was handsome, but expressionless.

"Have you found anything over there?" Shinazugawa Sanemi asked.

Tomioka Giyuu shook his head: "No, I've searched the whole area, but haven't found any trace of Mr. Aomura."

Shinazugawa Sanemi was silent for a moment, then said, "It's been a whole day. There's no point in continuing the search. I'll go back and report to our lord!"

Tomioka Giyuu said, "I'll continue searching the vicinity!"

  The two parted ways.

  Butterfly Mansion.

Kocho Kanae was changing a patient's dressing.

  Bang.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open heavily.

Kocho Shinobu entered the room, glanced at her sister, and didn't speak.

"Rest well these next few days, and be sure to take your medicine on time,"

Kocho Kanae earnestly instructed, her expression immediately turning serious after leaving the room.

  "Shinobu, what happened?"

Shinobu Kocho frowned, her face grim. "Something's happened to Mr. Aomura!"

Kanae Kocho replied without hesitation, "Impossible! With Mr. Aomura's strength, besides Muzan Kibutsuji..."

  She trailed off.

Shinobu handed her the intelligence report. "It must be Muzan Kibutsuji. He set a trap, and Mr. Aomura might have accidentally stepped into it."

Kanae didn't speak, taking the report and quickly scanning it before falling into a long silence.

  "Sister?" Shinobu called out.

Kanae snapped out of her reverie. "I don't believe Mr. Aomura would be in this state. Shinobu, you're in charge of the Butterfly Mansion from now on. I need to investigate personally."

"No problem, leave the Butterfly Mansion to me!" Shinobu nodded solemnly.

Kanae turned her head and saw Kanao standing at the door.

"Don't worry, Teacher will be alright!"

She ruffled Kanao's hair, nodded to Shinobu, and hurriedly left the Butterfly Mansion.

  ...

  Infinity Castle.

The battle continued, and more areas were destroyed.

Aoki's stamina was once again nearing exhaustion, and his regeneration rate was slowing down.

A sense of impatience rose within all the demons, including Muzan Kibutsuji.

The battle had lasted for over a day.

Apart from Muzan Kibutsuji and Kokushibo, who were constantly using Blood Demon Art, the other Upper Moon demons were suffering from immense exhaustion and their injuries had greatly increased.

They didn't care about ordinary injuries, but the wounds inflicted by the traitors were clearly a different story.

Even if their physical strength could still hold, their minds were utterly exhausted.

Even martial arts fanatics like Akaza and swordsmen like Kokushibo had never experienced a battle lasting more than a day and a night.

Aoki's physical strength was even greater, but his spirit remained high.

Firstly, he knew he was getting closer to his target; secondly, he was the prey, and if he dared to slack off, he would truly die.

The predator was only after a meal, while the prey fought for their life—their mentality was naturally different.

  Swoosh!

A whip lashed out, like a sharp blade, severing Aoki's left arm cleanly at the elbow.

Muzan Kibutsuji's whip was too fast.

When he was in good physical condition and focused, he could dodge it, but now that his stamina was low, even a slight lapse in concentration would result in being hit.

"Rat, keep recovering your strength!" Muzan Kibutsuji's eyes were cold and savage.

This battle was far more difficult than he had imagined.

His opponent wasn't strong, but he was truly like a rat, darting around and impossible to catch.

This caused his anger to build up continuously.

"Since you want to see it, then so be it."

Aoki smiled wearily, then used "space teleportation" to leave, taking out his last Qi-blood pill and quickly swallowing it.

  Boom!

His aura rapidly returned, and his slowly regenerating arm was instantly restored to its original state.

Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Moons froze, their expressions turning crazed.

Was this never going to end?

If this continued, they doubted they could wear down their opponent; they'd just exhaust themselves first.

  "Ah!"

Muzan Kibutsuji roared, a burst of light erupting from his body, a powerful shockwave spreading outwards.

The surrounding Upper Moons were the first to be blasted away, and nearby buildings instantly collapsed.

Aoki felt as if his body was being torn apart, every cell in his body trembling.

"Is this Muzan Kibutsuji's Blood Demon Art at its peak? Truly terrifying."

The whips that transformed from his arm, the whips on his upper and lower body, were all abilities evolved from Muzan Kibutsuji's control over his body.

Muzan Kibutsuji's true Blood Demon Art was this unnamed shockwave.

"It's very lethal to humans, but unfortunately, its effect on demons is limited!"

As soon as the shockwave disappeared, Aoki's body returned to normal. With a thought, he created distance.

The instant his figure vanished, another powerful shockwave erupted from Muzan Kibutsuji.

The Upper Moon demons, who had just stood up, were blasted away again, all coughing up blood.

  "Well done, keep going!"

  Aoki watched from afar.

Muzan Kibutsuji's face was extremely ugly.

  Humiliation!

  This was a tremendous humiliation!

The greatest humiliation he had ever suffered, aside from almost being killed by that man years ago!

But even if he acknowledged that man's strength, that he was more like a monster than him, what was this rat?

Muzan Kibutsuji's powerful aura surged, his eyes completely engulfed in killing intent.

This ant's strength was insignificant, yet it possessed many abilities that even he was helpless against.

"Let's see how many times you can recover! If once isn't enough, try twice; if twice isn't enough, try three times, four times, five times... I don't believe your stamina can recover indefinitely!

Rat, I have plenty of time to play this boring game with you.

  Struggle all you want.

As long as you're in this cage, one day I will definitely catch you!"

  Aoki nodded secretly.

  Muzan's guess was correct.

His Qi and Blood Pills were used up, and if his stamina was exhausted again, there would be no way to recover.

  However,

  it didn't matter.

  His goal had been achieved.
