The Battle for the Golden Child
The demon beast never reached Lin Yue.
Before its claws could touch the ground—
A streak of crimson lightning tore across the sky.
Feng Lihan.
His talons pierced straight through the creature's skull mid-air. Black blood splattered across the cliff stones as the corpse fell.
At the same time—
A silver blur flashed forward.
Mo Shan.
His serpent form expanded violently, scales gleaming under the darkened sky. He coiled around two incoming demon beasts and crushed them in a single tightening snap.
Bones shattered.
The battlefield erupted.
Hawk warriors launched into the air, wings slicing through demonic mist. The sky became a storm of feathers and black shadows.
But through all the chaos—
The Demon Lord didn't move.
He only watched Lin Yue.
As if the war meant nothing.
As if only one thing in this world mattered.
"You see?" he said softly, stepping forward. The dark pressure around him intensified. "This world will never be peaceful for you. As long as you exist… everyone around you will bleed."
Lin Yue's fingers trembled.
He hated that a part of him felt fear.
But another part—
Burned with anger.
"I won't go with you," he said, voice shaking but firm. "Not for peace. Not for threats. Not for fear."
The Demon Lord's red eyes darkened.
"You think they can protect you?" His gaze flicked briefly toward Feng Lihan and Mo Shan fighting side by side. "They cannot even protect what grows inside you."
Lin Yue's breath hitched.
Enough.
Something inside him snapped.
His peach scent burst outward unexpectedly— not soft and sweet like before.
It turned sharp.
Radiant.
Golden light flickered faintly around his body.
The Demon Lord's smile faded.
"…So it awakens."
Above, Feng Lihan felt it instantly. His head snapped toward Lin Yue.
Mo Shan did too.
Their expressions changed.
Not fear.
Recognition.
Lin Yue wasn't just carrying the Golden Child.
He was resonating with it.
The ground beneath him began to glow in delicate golden patterns.
The demonic mist recoiled.
Even the crawling beasts shrieked as if burned.
The Demon Lord finally moved.
In one blink, he appeared directly in front of Lin Yue.
Too fast.
Too close.
His hand lifted—
—but before he could touch him—
A massive serpent tail slammed down between them.
Mo Shan.
At the same second, a burning talon descended from above.
Feng Lihan.
The three powers collided.
The shockwave split the cliff.
The sky cracked with thunder.
For the first time—
The Demon Lord staggered back one step.
His crimson eyes narrowed.
"…Impressive."
Feng Lihan landed in front of Lin Yue, wings shielding him completely.
Mo Shan coiled protectively around Lin Yue's other side, body tense and lethal.
Feng Lihan's voice was calm—but filled with absolute authority.
"You will not touch him."
Mo Shan's golden snake eyes gleamed coldly.
"Not in this life."
The Demon Lord looked at the two Alphas.
Then at Lin Yue glowing faintly behind them.
For a moment—
Something unreadable crossed his face.
Not rage.
Not mockery.
Something darker.
"You cannot stop destiny," he said quietly. "The Golden Child belongs to no clan."
The demonic crack in the sky began closing slowly.
Retreat.
But this was not defeat.
The Demon Lord stepped backward into the darkness.
"I will return," he promised softly, eyes locked on Lin Yue. "And next time… you will come to me willingly."
The sky sealed shut.
The battlefield fell silent except for heavy breathing and distant cries.
The demon beasts dissolved into black ash.
The war—for today—was over.
Feng Lihan turned immediately.
Mo Shan shifted back into human form.
Both of them looked at Lin Yue.
Not as warriors.
Not as Alphas.
But as something else.
Concern.
Fear.
Hope.
Lin Yue swayed slightly.
The golden glow faded.
Feng Lihan caught him first.
Mo Shan's hand supported his back.
"Golden Child?" Feng Lihan asked quietly.
Lin Yue swallowed.
Slowly—
He nodded.
Tears filled his blue eyes.
"I was going to tell you…"
Mo Shan's expression softened in a way it rarely did.
Feng Lihan pressed his forehead gently to Lin Yue's.
"You are not alone," he said firmly.
Mo Shan added in a low voice, "And neither is our child."
Lin Yue blinked.
"Our…?"
The two Alphas exchanged a brief glance.
Something unspoken passed between them.
The future had just changed.
