Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Martial Soul Awakening, Moonlit Lotus

This feeling was utterly wonderful, like floating on a cloud, his body wrapped in soft, white vapor.

Every single muscle fiber and strand, under the transformation of [Agility], was bursting with vitality, gently vibrating with a certain mysterious rhythm.

[Agility] added a strange resilience and flexibility to his body.

[Class Trait: Agility (A thief's body is agile; limb movements are quick and practiced, strategic thinking is sharp, and body flexibility is enhanced)]

Zhao Liuyun scrutinized the detailed information on the panel and thoughtfully pushed aside the table and chairs.

He then ran rapidly across the room before suddenly stopping short.

There were no handholds on either side; a clumsy fall, ending up bruised and swollen, was virtually inevitable.

Under normal circumstances, apart from reversing time, such a situation would be impossible to salvage.

Yet, this time, Zhao Liuyun mobilized his muscles, forcefully pulled back his tendons, and stabilized his center of gravity, astonishingly fixing his posture in a contorted stance.

Not only that, this supple physique and excellent balance, combined with the newly acquired skill, allowed him to execute many movements that would be inconceivable to ordinary people—

Walking a tightrope was like strolling on flat ground, lightly leaping onto rooftops, and even concentrating his power to apply this Agility in actual combat, much like Xiao Wu.

Thinking of the rabbit, Zhao Liuyun's eyes flickered, revealing an obscure meaning.

Xiao Wu...

A moment later, he shook his head. While the hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring was tempting, it wasn't something he could covet.

Zhao Liuyun continued to contemplate the mysteries of the trait.

[Agility] included quick and practiced limb movements as well as sharp strategic thinking.

However, the [Agility] trait of a thief offered very little boost to strategic thinking, focusing more on the agility of the limbs.

His brain did turn faster, but not significantly—just enough to allow him to control this increasingly flexible body.

The professional skill [Extreme Reflexes] had a singular effect but strengthened a person's reaction ability, sharing the same lineage as the [Agility] trait. While making the body more dynamic, it was also very suitable for combat.

As for the thinking-related traits that Zhao Liuyun yearned for and which favored future development, they would likely require a profession transfer to [Scholar] or [Student].

Setting the goal directly didn't work; he probably needed to enter a Soul Master Academy.

All he needed was to awaken his Martial Soul!

Upon this thought, Zhao Liuyun's eyes suddenly became fervent, and he unconsciously clenched his fists.

A day later, in the city center, in front of the colossal domed building standing majestically.

This was the most prosperous central area of the entire city. The domed building was the Nuoding City Spirit Hall Sub-Branch, where the city's populace awakened their Martial Souls.

Zhao Liuyun stood before the gilded gate, cautiously peering inside under the scrutinizing eyes of the guards.

Sunlight streamed through the crystal windows, bathing the entire hall in a resplendent, magnificent, and divine glow.

The lavish sight formed a stark contrast with his current attire.

Today, Zhao Liuyun had deliberately donned a set of coarse linen clothes, disguised as an apprentice from a medical clinic.

Even though they were faded from washing, the clothes still retained a lingering scent of medicine, something no one could find fault with.

He would change his outfit every time he stole to ensure his clothes wouldn't expose his identity as a thief.

Of course, this change of clothes wasn't for stealing.

"Hey, kid, this is the Spirit Hall. What are you sneaking around for? Here to awaken your Martial Soul?"

One of the guards reached out to pat his head, but Zhao Liuyun swayed his body and easily dodged the hand.

"That's right, respected Elder, I'm here to awaken my Martial Soul. You see..." Zhao Liuyun put on a humble smile.

"Just go in. Go up to the second floor, walk to the end, and find Master Su Yuntao."

The guard pointed casually, then tried again, refusing to believe he'd missed.

Zhao Liuyun thanked him softly, lowered his body, slightly pushed off with his feet, and lightly sidestepped the guard's hand.

"Heh~ This little brat!" The guard looked surprised.

Zhao Liuyun turned back to make a face at him, then enthusiastically stepped into the hall.

The walls of the hall were inscribed with patterns of various Martial Souls, and the striking dome was covered in exquisite frescoes.

Each bright golden square depicted a Martial Soul: hammers, pagodas, giant dragons...

And the divine figure in the very center, surrounded by all the other Martial Souls!

The divine figure had a pair of wings on its back. Under the refraction of the sunlight, it gave off a sense of sanctity, purity, and supreme eminence.

"Angel?" Zhao Liuyun silently muttered, carrying his excitement up to the second floor.

Walking down the corridor to the end, he was met by three tall, solemn archways.

The middle door was ajar, and a low sound of sobbing could vaguely be heard inside.

The sound got closer and closer...

A red-eyed, whimpering child walked out, still staring relentlessly at the small, blue-glowing grass in his palm.

"Trash Martial Soul, Blue Silver Grass? No awakened Soul Power?"

Zhao Liuyun's pupils contracted slightly, and his heart couldn't help but beat a little faster.

Subconsciously tidying the fringe on his forehead, he passed the crying child with a composed demeanor.

He believed he definitely had Soul Power!

Absolutely!

Stepping over the threshold, Zhao Liuyun's gaze swept over the Martial Soul patterns on the wall and the black stone array embedded in the floor, then settled on the young man sitting in front of the array.

The young man looked to be in his twenties, with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes, handsome features, and a slightly arrogant expression. A black cloak was draped over the chair behind him.

There was no one else inside, so this must be the infamous "Blind-Eyed Soul King."

Zhao Liuyun bowed respectfully, then gathered his courage and spoke directly: "Master Su Yuntao."

"Mm, little one, are you here to awaken your Martial Soul?"

Su Yuntao nodded slightly, his brows showing a hint of weariness, but his attitude remained gentle.

Once Zhao Liuyun nodded, he predictably pointed to the black stone hexagon array beside him.

"Stand inside and feel with your heart."

Awakening a Martial Soul at the Spirit Hall Sub-Branch was different from doing so in a small village; Su Yuntao didn't summon his Lone Wolf Martial Soul.

Releasing Soul Power didn't inherently require Martial Soul possession; that was only for demonstration to the villagers who lacked insight.

People in the city, who were well-traveled and knowledgeable, wouldn't be too unfamiliar with the appearance of Soul Rings and Martial Soul possession.

Zhao Liuyun stepped into the array as instructed, holding his breath and focusing his mind.

He then watched Su Yuntao quickly clap his hands together. Six streams of green light erupted from his palms and swiftly sank into the black stones on the ground.

The next moment, golden splendor shone, and a faint golden glow formed a subtle light barrier.

Countless tiny golden light spots gently floated up from the surface of the black stones, like dandelions carried by the spring breeze, and softly merged into Zhao Liuyun's body.

A warm current subsequently spread through his limbs and bones, so comfortable it almost made him sigh.

Guided by the warmth, which felt like the warm sun of spring, it was as if some barrier within his body had shattered. All the warm energy instantly rushed toward his palms.

Su Yuntao, standing nearby, watched the dense light spots, his eyes subtly brightening.

This phenomenon...

Could it be that a powerful Martial Soul was about to awaken?

Yet, he furrowed his brow, as if thinking of something.

He only hoped this wasn't another false alarm...

Su Yuntao tightly pursed his lips, watching without blinking.

Zhao Liuyun had no time to notice the expression of the Blind-Eyed Soul King. He instinctively raised his right hand, and a soft ball of light suddenly condensed in his palm.

The light appeared only for a fleeting moment, then transformed into a magnificent, moon-white large flower, quietly suspended in the center of his palm.

The petals were as white as snow, the stamen shone like gilded gold. Each petal was perfectly unfurled, its paper-thin edges glistening with a crystalline sheen.

Even more astonishingly, a translucent mist curled around the petals. Dreamlike faint light flowed across the flower's body, adding a touch of mystery to this Martial Soul.

The light was warm yet not dazzling, reserved yet captivating, like the pure and cold light of the moon pouring down.

At the same time, a clear, subtle fragrance began to permeate the air.

Su Yuntao was initially shocked by the perfect form of this moon-white flower, his heart surging. But the moment the strange floral scent drifted into his nostrils, his restless emotions involuntarily calmed down.

Suppressing the inexplicable and peculiar feeling in his heart, Su Yuntao praised sincerely, "What a beautiful Martial Soul. What is its name?"

He was certain he had never seen such a stunning Martial Soul.

"Too bad I didn't get a 'Trash Martial Soul' evaluation," Zhao Liuyun mused inwardly, his attention focused on the panel as he happily gave his answer:

"Moonlit Lotus."
