Chapter 128: Princess Nuala
The sky had completely darkened, and a slender figure moved swiftly through the darkness.
This person, using some unknown method, glided across the snow, leaving only a faint trail. In the pitch-black night, they were like a ghost.
They traversed the entire village and arrived at a farm outside the town, but they didn't notice two figures following not far behind them.
It was Mason and Agent One.
Having discovered the oddity of the situation, Mason had originally planned to return directly to Moscow, but the figure he had unexpectedly encountered changed his mind.
"Let me see what you're up to,"
The figure ahead moved with swift and elusive movements—a feat far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary person.
Mason even suspected that even if a special forces operative had discovered their trail, successfully tracking them without being detected would be extremely difficult.
The farm was eerily quiet, not even a light emanating from it. It was clearly long abandoned; some buildings had collapsed, and the devastation of war was evident everywhere.
The slender figure was very cautious, staying in the shadows of the structures as much as possible after entering the farm. Soon, they arrived at an abandoned shed, presumably where livestock were once kept.
The figure cleared away the overgrowth, then lifted a hidden door and descended.
This underground space was surprisingly spacious.
The figure hugged the wall, descending a straight passage, and quickly reached the chamber below.
Faint lights shone from both sides of the walls. After a few steps, they heard voices ahead.
"Has Elenia not returned yet?"
"She's been gone for a while. Has something happened?"
"It's too dangerous here. The other clan members were captured and their whereabouts are unknown. We're at risk of being exposed at any moment." A slightly somber voice spoke.
"But the princess refuses to leave. She says she won't leave until she finds the remaining clan members."
"Should we try to persuade her again?"
"It's no use. You know the princess's personality."
A sigh came from ahead.
"If Prince Nuada were here, this wouldn't have happened!" someone sighed.
"Silence!"
"Is this something we should be discussing?"
Hearing this, the figure quickened their pace, turned a corner, and bright light shone ahead. They removed their mask, revealing an elegant face.
"I'm back!"
"It's Elenia."
This was an open space of about 30 square meters. Standing opposite the person named Elenia were two other individuals.
They were both tall and dressed in clothing similar to that of medieval European nobility. One of them was holding a longsword.
His voice sounded like that of a composed middle-aged man, but his appearance seemed similar to that of Elenia.
"What happened? Why are you so late?" the man with the sword asked, frowning.
Elenia removed her dark cloak. "Something unexpected happened. A military vehicle came to town, and two strangers broke into the tavern and started a fight. I think they're after us."
"Were you discovered?" another person asked, his face serious and cautious, his slightly elongated ears visible.
Elenia's face showed a hint of disdain. "Those ordinary humans, even if they trained for another century, still couldn't track me!"
"Oh wait, I forgot, ordinary humans don't even live for a century."
"Elenia, watch your arrogance!"
a voice called out. Elenia frowned, about to retort, but upon seeing the figure, her expression turned serious and she bowed slightly.
"Princess Nuala!"
A beautiful woman dressed in flowing robes emerged from a narrow passage.
The woman had golden hair, her face was pale but regal, and her eyes were slightly amber, with a jewel-like quality.
Even in her loose garments, one could sense her graceful form beneath. With her arrival, the entire dimly lit chamber seemed to brighten with her presence.
Princess Nuala remained composed. "Elenia, don't forget, it was these ordinary humans you look down upon who captured more than a dozen of our people, forcing us to hide underground."
Elenia bit her lip. "Yes, Princess!"
"Since our whereabouts have been discovered, let's leave here quickly."
"Princess, there should only be two of them. I suggest we capture them directly, interrogate them, and force them to reveal the whereabouts of the other captives!"
Elenia said with determination, glancing quickly at the two guards standing beside the princess.
"CRASH!"
Just then, a heavy impact came from the end of the passage. Everyone's expression changed, and Elenia and the man with the sword rushed to the entrance, cautiously on guard.
"Who goes there?!" Elenia shouted sharply.
Mason watched as Agent One, overwhelmed by his weight, snapped the rope ladder and fell to the bottom of the pit. He couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Next time I encounter this situation, I'll definitely send the smallest one, Agent Nine."
Mason descended into the pit.
"Although we came uninvited, we mean no harm. Perhaps we can sit down and talk."
Mason's voice reached Elenia's ears from the tunnel. Upon hearing this, her expression changed. She had just boasted that she wouldn't be tracked by anyone, but now she was being cornered in their hiding place.
Her pale cheeks flushed red, and a fierce glint flashed in her eyes. She drew a short blade about thirty centimeters long and held it ready, staring intently at the entrance.
Mason stepped into the chamber.
With his entry, the narrow room seemed to instantly become crowded.
Mason's gaze quickly swept across everyone's faces. When he saw their ears, he paused slightly. Then, when his gaze swept over Princess Nuala, his pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
"It's Princess Nuala!"
This is the princess of the ancient Elven race, who appeared in Hellboy II: The Golden Army!
What is she doing here?
"Despicable human."
"Die!"
Elenia roared, her blade stabbing towards Mason's chest like a striking viper. Her timing was perfect, precisely the moment Mason noticed Princess Nuala and seemed distracted.
She was a skilled assassin.
Unfortunately for her, she encountered Mason.
Mason's gaze didn't even waver, remaining fixed on Princess Nuala.
He merely shifted his body slightly, then swung his fist in a sweeping motion.
In his memory, the Elven King had split the crown that controlled the Golden Army into three pieces, and one of those fragments should be with Princess Nuala!
"Elenia, stop!" Princess Nuala shouted.
"BANG!"
The charging Elenia was sent flying like a projectile, her body slamming against the wall behind her before falling to the ground.
She coughed up blood, pointing at Mason with a horrified expression, saying, "How is this possible? How could a human possess such power!"
