Chapter 22 - SCARS THAT CANNOT BE SEEN

The night after the incident felt unnaturally quiet.

Too quiet.

Ryan sat alone on the edge of his bed, his room illuminated only by the faint glow of the streetlight outside the window. His body had already healed—no bruises, no broken bones, not even a trace of blood.

Yet his hands trembled.

I almost lost her.

The thought struck him again and again, sinking deeper each time.

The Weight of Survival

Ryan raised his hands, turning them slowly.

These hands had been crushed. These hands had bled. These hands had stopped a dozen enemies in seconds.

And yet—

They felt foreign.

If Satria hadn't answered…

Ryan's chest tightened.

He realized something terrifying.

He hadn't survived because he was strong.

He had survived because something ancient had chosen him.

That difference frightened him more than the pain ever could.

A Silent Conversation

The Cakra Kencana Kris rested beside him, its surface calm and unremarkable.

"Why me…?" Ryan whispered.

No response.

But deep within, he felt a presence—not intrusive, not domineering.

Observing.

Waiting.

Power isn't given, Ryan thought. It's acknowledged.

And that realization weighed heavily on his heart.

At the Academy

The next morning, the atmosphere at Cakra Sakti Academy was different.

No rumors. No loud training.Just quiet glances.

Sophie stood across from Ryan in the courtyard.

She wanted to ask so many things.

What happened in that building? Why did the energy feel… wrong? Why did I feel afraid of you for a moment?

But none of those questions left her lips.

Instead, she said softly, "Are you hurt?"

Ryan shook his head.

"I should be," he answered honestly.

Sophie swallowed.

That answer disturbed her more than any injury could have.

Bayu's Concern

Inside the main hall, Bayu studied Ryan carefully.

Not as an instructor.

Not as a leader.

But as a man watching a storm take shape.

"You crossed a line last night," Bayu said calmly.

Ryan lowered his gaze.

"I know."

"That power," Bayu continued,"It wasn't Level 3. Or 4. Or anything within our system."

Ryan clenched his fists.

"I didn't choose it," he said quietly."But I won't deny it either."

Bayu closed his eyes briefly.

"That honesty," he said,"may be the only thing keeping you grounded."

Her Fear—and Her Trust

Later that day, Ryan stood outside the infirmary room.

She sat inside, wrapped in a blanket, staring at the wall.

When she noticed him, her breath caught.

She remembered everything.

His body collapsing. The blood. The way he stood back up like something inhuman.

Ryan bowed his head.

"I'm sorry," he said again."For scaring you."

She shook her head slowly.

"I was scared," she admitted."But not of you."

Ryan looked up.

"I was scared of losing you," she continued, tears forming."You always walk ahead without saying anything. You always carry everything alone."

Ryan's throat tightened.

"I didn't want to drag you into my world."

She smiled faintly.

"Then stop walking alone."

Those words cut deeper than any blade.

A Fracture in the Heart

That night, Ryan stood beneath the sky once more.

The city lights flickered below.

The martial world stirred beyond.

And within him—

Satria remained silent.

Ryan finally understood.

Power didn't erase fear.

It magnified responsibility.

If he lost control—

He wouldn't just destroy enemies.

He would destroy the people he loved.

Ryan closed his eyes.

"I'll master this power," he vowed silently."Not for strength…But so I never have to watch someone cry because of me again."

The wind carried his words into the night.

Unanswered.

But heard.
