Five weeks ago, Rowan Donovan's scans had shown aggressive tumors in his stomach and multiple metastases in his brain. The largest brain tumor had been 2.3 centimeters. The stomach tumor had been even larger, wrapped around vital structures, inoperable.
The new scans showed those same tumors.
Exactly the same... Not larger, not smaller. Frozen in place like someone had pressed pause on the disease.
Dr. Reeves pulled up Rowan's physical exam notes.
Weight: Unchanged from five weeks ago whereas he hould have lost 15-20 pounds minimum.
Blood pressure: Normal which should be showing signs of system stress.
Cognitive function: Sharp, alert, no signs of brain metastases affecting mental capacity.
Pain levels: Self-reported as "manageable." Which should be requiring maximum doses of opioids by now.
Physical appearance: Healthy color, steady gait, no visible wasting.
