Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: The first encounter

In this big and chaotic world, Alfred is a young man who studies hard to achieve his dreams but has a fondness for strange things that normal people cannot see.

Alfred: What's that? Where is that voice coming from? Oh no, I might be going crazy. It might be in reading novels. (Alfred said while reading a novel on his laptop)

Alfred: What did it say? "He was walking when he saw a big person beside the tree." Oh wow, HAHAHA if that were me, I'd give a high five. (Alfred joked while reading)

While Alfred was reading a novel, his mother called him to eat. Mother Emma: Alfred! Come here now, we're going to eat (she called out to Alfred).

Alfred: Yes, Mom! (he answered)

A few minutes passed but Alfred still hadn't come down, so his mother went to his room to get him.

She entered quietly and carefully, making no noise. She went to her son, who had his back turned to her, leaned her face close to his ear, and read aloud what she saw on his laptop screen: "He saw a woman dressed in white; she just stared at him, then vanished as he approached."

As soon as his mother finished speaking, Alfred was startled and looked at her.

Alfred: AHH! Mom! (he shouted)

Mother Emma: I told you to come down for dinner—we're about to eat already. (Alfred's mother said as she pinched him.)

Alfred: Ow, ow! Mom, okay—I'm coming down now! (he replied to his mother)

Mother Emma: Just make sure you do. Hayy you kid—if those things happened to you. I don't know what to do with you. You know your third eye is open. (Emma reminded her son.)

Alfred: Yes, Mom I know. Alright, let's go down now. (he said to his mother)

After Alfred ate, he immediately got ready to go to his school.

Mom Emma: Oh dear, here's your lunch box. Take care, okay? (said the mother)

Alfred: Yes, Mom. I'll be going now. (Alfred said goodbye)

While Alfred was walking, he bumps into his friend Beth.

Beth: Hey! Alfred, how are you? (Beth asked)

Alfred: Hey Beth, it's you. You scared me. I'm also on my way to school. (Alfred greeted)

Beth: Oh really? Then let's go together. (Beth invited)

Alfred agreed, and the two went to school together. When they arrived at school, each of them went to their respective classrooms.

"A few hours later" Ringgggg (the sound of the bell, signaling that it's break time)

Teacher: Okay class, that's it for today. You can have your break now. (Alfred's subject teacher said)

Alfred went out and headed to the school canteen, where he saw Beth again and invited her to eat.

Alfred: Hey Beth, over here! (he called out to Beth)

Beth immediately went to Alfred's spot near the mango tree. The two were chatting happily when their conversation turned to something that gave them goosebumps.

Alfred: But you know what, speaking of girls, at our house I always seem to see a girl with long hair in the yard. (Alfred mentioned)

Beth: Did you ever try asking Auntie about that? (Beth asked)

Alfred: Yeah, but she always says it's just my imagination and that we're well-protected. (Alfred replied)

Beth: Protected? (Beth wondered)

Alfred: Yeah, it's just hard to explain. (Alfred said)

The bell rang again, signaling that they needed to go back to class. As he was walking away, he looked back at their spot to check if he had left anything behind, when suddenly he caught a glimpse of a girl behind the mango tree.

Alfred rubbed his eyes slightly, and the girl suddenly disappeared. He said, "Maybe it's just my imagination. I'm too tired to think about it anymore," then walked straight back to their classroom.

A few hours ago, Alfred's entire class had finished, so he went home right away.

He didn't see Beth on his way back, so he just let it be.

When Alfred got home, he saw his mother and older brother arguing again, while his father was trying to mediate between them. So, he just went straight to his room to do his homework.

YouTuber: Hello guys, so today we're going to explore an abandoned- (sound from Alfred's iPad)

Alfred spent several hours watching scary content; it was already two o'clock in the morning when he decided to sleep for the next day. Alfred was about to lay down when suddenly someone knocked on his door. He was confused because he was sure his family was already asleep at this hour.

He stood up and slowly walked to the door.

Alfred: Hello? Mom? Who is it? (Alfred said as he walked slowly)

Alfred was trembling with nervousness because no one was answering his questions—only knocks on the door could be heard.

He gathered his courage to open the door. Alfred suddenly pulled it open forcefully, as if he was also ready to see something strange.

When Alfred opened the door, there was no one in front of it. Even when he went out to check, he didn't see anyone.

Alfred: Tsk, it was nothing after all. (Alfred said as he closed the door)

Alfred lay down and covered himself with a blanket. As he was about to fall asleep, he felt a lump under the blanket that felt like a head. When he slowly lifted the blanket, he gradually started to see hair.

He slowly raised the blanket and saw a pale woman with a large gash on her face that stretched from her mouth to her ear. When the woman opened her mouth, Alfred was terrified and ran out of his room.

He ran to his parents' room, and his parents were shocked to see him.

Mom Emma: Oh my! What is this! Goodness, you scared us, child. (Mom Emma said in surprise)

Alfred: Mom, there's a woman in my room—please let me stay here, I'm begging you. (Alfred said)

Mom Emma and his father Landon just looked at each other and agreed to let him sleep in their room.

The night ended with Alfred sleeping between his parents.

The next day, Alfred's mother chose not to talk about what had happened to her son—as if she already knew what had occurred.
