Vanessa had only fainted briefly. The sudden pressure when Andrew lifted her made her gasp, and she slowly opened her eyes. Seeing this, Andrew's heart leapt to his throat. He hurriedly asked, "Wife, how do you feel? Does your stomach hurt? Is it very uncomfortable?"
Vanessa leaned weakly against him and shook her head faintly. "I don't know… I just feel very weak all over."
Andrew relaxed a little.
From his past experience, he knew that fainting during pregnancy was not uncommon, especially when someone was hungry or overly agitated.
Still, the thought of the eight pounds he had just paid made his chest ache as if someone had carved out a piece of flesh. That money was supposed to last them until Vanessa received her wages.
His eyes flickered, and a thought took shape.
