Mary walked back outside first. She was still worried about Kristen and the child waiting out there. In this era, women and children were especially vulnerable, and this was an unfamiliar city for them.
When she stepped outside and saw Kristen and Christaniel standing safely by the car, she finally relaxed a little. Turning to Thomas, she said, "Arrange for them to stay in the yard house I asked you to rent."
Thomas glanced at Kristen and the child and nodded. "Okay. The yard is quite big, plenty of room. Olivia moved in yesterday. I'm not sure if she's in right now, but she should be around."
Mary frowned slightly, thinking of the yard and the people staying there. She felt it would be better to take a look herself.
"Alright," she said. "Send them over first. If you have time, check on them more often. Let the neighbors help keep an eye on things."
"No problem," Thomas replied confidently. "The neighbors are all relatives of mine. If there's anything, they can just tell them."
