Mary quickly calculated in her mind. The restaurant would take at least a month to renovate and open.
But Kristen clearly couldn't wait that long. That heartless man only gave five pounds a month. Even if she works hard to the bone to earn that 6-pound salary, where she could only save about 3 pounds, the total 8 pounds is still not enough to survive with a child for an entire month.
If Kristen kept starving herself like this, her body would collapse sooner or later.
Kristen lowered her head and replied softly, "The child goes to school during the day. I'll explain things to the teacher and pick him up later. As for my body… I'll just endure it one day at a time."
Her words were calm, but the resignation behind them made Mary's heart tighten.
