"One day, a teacher noticed," he continued. "He tested me, asked me a few questions. I answered them all. After that, he pretended not to see me and let me sit in class. That's how I finished primary school."
Mary stared at him in disbelief. "That teacher was incredible. But… how did you end up working in the factory?"
Ryan took a sip of water. "I went out to work young. Met a friend who introduced me to the factory."
"And later? Did you study there?" she asked.
He nodded. "Director Clifford found books for me. I studied on my own and finished all the junior high courses."
Clifford had been his guide, the one who truly saw him.
"I see…" Mary smiled softly while casually opening the cap of the water bottle. "So, husband, what are your plans for the future?"
Ryan turned to her, eyes bright with an unguarded smile. "My plan is simple. Spend my life with you and have a bunch of children."
Mary had just taken a sip of water.
