Chapter 23 - The Execution Platform

Zoro drank a hurried glass of wine, his expression awkward, then quickly left the tavern, claiming he needed to visit a weapon shop to buy proper swords.

Logan didn't stop him.

His task today was simple—keep Captain Smoker occupied.

As long as Smoker was here, Luffy would be safe.

He poured himself another glass and continued speaking softly to the woman across from him.

"Zoro had an older senior when he was young… her name was Kuina."

...

...

By the time Logan finished, Tashigi hadn't even noticed when her eyes began to redden. Tears slid down her cheeks silently.

She was a woman.

And more importantly—she was a swordswoman.

She knew better than anyone how cruel the path was for a girl who wanted to walk the way of the sword. Kuina's fate struck painfully close to home.

"Do we… really look that alike?" Tashigi asked quietly.

Logan nodded.

That single answer was enough.

Tashigi picked up Shigure, turned around, and left the tavern without looking back.

Logan blinked. "Something urgent?"

"I want to see that man again," she said, then pushed the door open and disappeared.

Logan took a dull sip of wine.

Forgot to tell you… Zoro's a pirate now.

Good luck, brother.

He turned his head to look at Smoker, still unconscious.

With a casual gesture, he beckoned.

A voluptuous middle-aged woman hurried over, her hips swaying deliberately, drawing greedy stares from the drunkards nearby.

Anyone who could run a tavern in a place like Loguetown knew exactly how the world worked—

who could be offended, and who absolutely could not.

From the moment Logan entered, the proprietress had been watching him carefully.

"You called for me, sir?" she asked sweetly.

Logan glanced at Smoker beside him.

"You know him?"

She nodded cautiously.

"Good."

Logan stood up and placed two thousand beli on the table.

"If he wakes up and wants to drink, let him. Also—Captain Smoker isn't in the mood to be disturbed today. Give him a quiet room."

He paused.

"And if Marines come looking for him… you understand?"

The woman nodded without hesitation, her gaze growing bolder.

"I know nothing. I saw nothing."

Gathering her courage, she added with a flirtatious smile,

"May I ask, handsome sir—do you prefer meat, or vegetables?"

Logan placed another two thousand beli on the table.

He ignored her suggestive look, though his eyes lingered briefly—very briefly—on her generous figure.

"I like steamed buns."

With that, he hoisted the Sea-Stone Greatsword onto his back and walked out.

The proprietress stood there, stunned and irritated, biting her lip.

Am I getting old?

The drunkards nearby swallowed hard, drool nearly spilling.

Then—

Her lips curved into a confident smile again.

Because the white-haired youth had returned.

He walked straight to Smoker, tapped him lightly twice on the back, then turned and left again—never sparing her a second glance.

She returned to the counter in a daze, completely deflated.

Only after leaving for the second time did Logan finally feel at ease.

Earlier, he'd worried Smoker might wake up midway—

so he'd made sure Smoker wouldn't be getting up until nightfall.

After asking for directions, Logan headed toward his destination.

The execution platform.

He was looking forward to the system's reward.

Every sign-in had paid off so far.

At his current stage, training alone was no longer the fastest way to grow stronger.

Only by completing more system tasks could he keep accelerating.

If the Summit War arrived and he hadn't reached Yonko-level, saving Ace would be nothing but a fantasy.

Still—he wasn't panicking.

Ace hadn't been captured yet. There was still time.

If memory served, Ace would meet Luffy again in Alabasta.

This time, even if he had to tie Ace up, Logan would stop him from chasing Blackbeard.

Everyone had underestimated Teach.

In Logan's eyes, the Dark-Dark Fruit was far more terrifying than any other power.

Others had limits—Shanks, Kaido, Dragon…

Teach didn't.

He could devour endlessly.

Every fruit he absorbed multiplied his strength.

Teach felt less like a native of this world—and more like a protagonist from another story, gifted with the ultimate cheat.

Logan chuckled to himself.

If we're talking about cheats…

My system is the biggest bug of all.

The execution platform was easy to find.

Before long, it rose into view at the center of the plaza.

The square was lively—vendors, toys, laughing children.

Logan walked forward, praying silently.

System… be generous this time.

Something that lets me ascend on the spot and fight a Yonko head-on.

Standing beneath the platform, he looked up.

With a single leap, he used Moon Walk, stepped through the air several times, and landed effortlessly on top.

No one paid much attention.

This was the place where the Pirate King died.

At first, people used to climb it every day.

Over time, it became just another structure.

Logan frowned.

This was the sign-in location—yet the platform was barely two square meters wide.

Aside from the guillotine, there was nothing.

So why hadn't the system responded?

Then—

His gaze fell on the blade.

Roger.

Understanding flashed across his eyes.

Logan knelt down, placed his head beneath the guillotine, and closed his eyes.

The plaza faded.

In his mind, the square was packed—silent, breathless.

Gol D. Roger stood before the crowd, smiling as if he ruled the world even in death.

"Want my treasure?"

"I left everything I own… in that place."

"Find it."
