Chapter 125 - Chapter 120: Thanks

Keifer's POV

I was pacing in my room.

The door opened.

Luke walked in quietly.

Closed it behind him.

I didn't look at him immediately.

"Why didn't you call me yesterday evening?"

Silence.

Then—

"Keifer… Sienna's men came to meet me."

I turned sharply.

"And?"

"They almost killed me."

My chest tightened.

"Are you hurt?"

He smiled lightly. "No. I'm okay."

I stepped closer.

"Luke."

He looked at me seriously now.

"Thanks," I said. "You and your brother… Elian Blaze. You've helped me and my friends a lot."

He looked slightly surprised.

"How can I side with the villain?" he replied softly. "And Jay… she's been through enough. I couldn't bear to see her go through another pain."

Something in my chest shifted.

Without thinking—

I pulled him into a hug.

He stiffened.

Then—

Flinched.

I stepped back immediately.

"What happened?"

"Nothing."

"Remove your jacket."

"It's nothing."

"Remove it."

He sighed dramatically.

Took it off.

I saw the torn fabric underneath.

Bandage around his arm.

Bruising near his shoulder.

My jaw tightened.

"You're injured."

"I'm okay. Don't worry. I'm an international doctor… and a psychiatrist."

He smiled slightly.

"But my sweet Eli owns the hotel you guys stayed in."

I blinked.

"You know your brother is such a good actor? He made everyone believe he was just a worker."

Luke chuckled softly. "You know my brother. He doesn't want people to know. He doesn't like to be surrounded."

I nodded slowly. "That's true."

Silence settled for a moment.

"You should take care of yourself," I said. "Sienna won't let you go easily."

"Yes, yes. I know."

Then suddenly—

He started laughing.

I frowned. "What's funny?"

"When Sienna was threatening to kill my mother…"

I stiffened. "She isn't your—"

"No," he said calmly. "She's not my real mom. Just an elderly woman I was assigned to check up on for a week."

I exhaled slowly.

"Oh."

"Disappointing villain strategy," he added.

I shook my head.

"You're insane."

He grinned.

We both sat down.

And for the first time—

No sarcasm.

No rivalry.

Just two men talking.

Laughing quietly.

Like normal people.
