Chapter 123 - Chapter 118: 8PM

Luke's POV

The parking lot was quieter than usual.

Too quiet.

I parked the car.

Turned off the engine.

Sat there for a second.

6:57 PM.

I stepped out.

Locked the door.

Started walking toward the apartment entrance.

Footsteps.

Not mine.

Behind me.

I stopped.

Turned.

Four men.

Two holding knives.

Two holding bats.

And one holding a pistol.

I looked at the pistol.

Then at them.

"What now?"

"Your time is up," one of them said.

I sighed lightly.

"I know. And I created a fight between Keifer and Jay. Didn't you see?"

One of them nodded. "Yes. But ma'am said that's not how she wants it."

I tilted my head. "Then she should find someone else."

I started walking past them.

A hand grabbed my arm.

I turned slowly.

"What do you want now?"

"Your hand."

I blinked.

"Oh come on, guys. Why don't you come tomorrow? I'm tired."

They laughed.

That was their mistake.

The first bat swung.

I stepped back.

Dodged.

Smiled faintly.

"Bad aim."

A knife came from the side.

I twisted away.

Still smiling.

"Too slow."

For a moment, it almost felt like a game.

Four against one.

Concrete floor.

Echoing steps.

Another swing.

This one caught my shoulder slightly.

Fabric tore.

My shirt ripped.

A shallow cut burned along my arm.

The smile faded.

"…Now that was unnecessary."

The bat came again.

I grabbed it mid-swing.

Pulled hard.

The man stumbled forward.

I drove the bat into his face.

He dropped.

The one with the pistol stepped back.

Wrong move.

I knocked his wrist hard.

The gun fell and slid across the concrete.

Things stopped being funny.

A bat struck the back of my head.

White light flashed.

The world tilted.

I fell to one knee.

Dizzy.

The ground felt unstable.

Footsteps rushing.

Voices shouting.

I blinked.

Saw the gun on the floor.

Reached.

Picked it up.

Silence.

Everything slowed.

Three men frozen.

Breathing heavy.

I didn't smile anymore.

The first shot echoed sharply.

Then another.

And another.

The parking lot swallowed the sound.

Bodies fell.

The last one, the man I hit earlier, tried to stand.

I didn't hesitate.

Silence returned.

Only my breathing.

My head throbbed.

I lowered the gun.

Sat down on the concrete for a moment.

Blood slowly stained my torn sleeve.

Footsteps didn't move anymore.

Then—

A phone rang.

One of theirs.

I picked it up.

Caller: Sienna.

I answered.

Changed my voice.

"Yes, ma'am."

Pause.

"He has created a fight between JayJay and Keifer."

Another pause.

"Yes, ma'am. We've broken his arm."

Silence.

"Good," she said calmly. "You will all receive your payment."

"Yes, ma'am."

Call ended.

I stared at the phone.

Then threw it across the parking lot.

It shattered against the wall.

I stood up slowly.

My arm burned.

My head pounded.

I walked toward the building entrance.

Each step heavier than the last.

Under my breath, I murmured quietly,

"Non culpa mea est… quod malum facere non potestis."

I entered the elevator.

Doors closing.

Face calm again.

Like nothing happened.
