We reached downstairs.
Everyone was gathered in the living room.
Papers on the table.
Phones out.
Serious faces.
Suspicious.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked.
Keifer looked up.
"Oh. Chantelle. When did you come?"
Ci-N snorted. "She came when you guys were doing your small small talks."
Adrian rubbed his neck. "Sorry, Chan. We were busy."
"Hello?" I said. "I asked a question."
Keifer cleared his throat. "Yes. We're thinking of a new way to end all this fight with Sienna."
Chan and I looked at each other.
Ci-N leaned forward with enthusiasm. "I said we kill her in her sleep."
Silence.
David blinked. "How will we enter the house?"
Ci-N paused. "Oh. That's true."
Felix raised his hand like this was a classroom. "Why don't we put bombs all over her house?"
I stared at him.
Keifer looked horrified. "You want us to be murderers?"
Adrian rubbed his temples. "All these things wouldn't work, okay?"
Calix whispered to Rory, "Why are we like this?"
I lifted both hands. "You guys do your thing."
I turned and walked to the couch where Ciel, Yuri, and Kit were watching a movie like normal human beings.
I sat down between them.
"This is why villains win," I muttered.
Then—
The front door opened.
Everyone froze.
Luke stepped inside casually.
"Sorry I was late."
Keifer's face immediately darkened. "No one was expecting you."
Luke looked around thoughtfully.
"You sure?"
He slowly raised his hand and pointed.
"Because someone looks very happy to see me."
We all turned.
Chantelle.
She looked like a volcano trying not to erupt.
Luke crossed his arms.
"1…"
Chan stiffened.
"2…"
Her hands started shaking.
"3."
"LUUUUUKEEEEE!" she screamed and ran toward him at full speed.
She jumped.
He caught her easily.
Spun her once.
"I told you," he said calmly.
She pulled back and grabbed his shoulders. "YOU DISAPPEARED FOR A WEEK!"
"I was alive," he replied.
"That's not the point!"
Keifer folded his arms. "Why are you screaming?"
Chan ignored him completely.
Luke glanced at Keifer. "See? I have supporters."
"Go away," Keifer muttered.
Felix whispered, "This is better than the movie."
Ciel nodded. "Way better."
Luke gently placed Chan down.
She was still glowing like she'd just met a celebrity.
Keifer looked like he swallowed a lemon.
