Chapter 30 - Surprise on Campus

Haru parked the car in the visitor lot, checking his phone one last time—Ichigo was with Aiko for the afternoon playdate, everything smooth. It was a rare free Thursday, no urgent work deadlines, so he'd decided on a surprise. Chris had a gap between classes, complaining about cafeteria food all week. Time for a proper lunch drop-off.

He grabbed the bag—homemade bento with Chris's favorites: teriyaki chicken, rice balls, veggie sticks—and headed across campus. The place buzzed with students—backpacks, laughter, coffee cups everywhere. Haru felt a bit out of place in his smart casual button-up and trousers, sleeves rolled up, but the soft smile on his face was all for Chris.

He texted: Where you at? Got something for you.

Chris: Library courtyard? Studying with group. Why?

Haru: Just come.

Minutes later, Chris spotted him from across the grass, hazel eyes widening in surprise. He jogged over, light brown hair messy from the wind, backpack bouncing. "Haru-san? What're you doing here?"

Haru held up the bag, grin faint but genuine. "Lunch delivery. Figured cafeteria slop wasn't cutting it."

Chris's face lit up, that genuine cheerful smile Haru loved. "No way! You're the best." He pulled Haru into a quick hug, careful of campus eyes, but lingering a second.

They found a bench under a tree, away from the main crowd. Chris unpacked the bento, moaning dramatically at the first bite. "This is heaven. Group study's boring anyway—accounting prof drones on."

Haru sat close, thigh brushing Chris's. "How's classes? Stress high?"

Chris shrugged, chewing. "Manageable. Group last night helped—talked debt stuff more. Felt less alone."

Haru nodded, protective warmth in his dark brown eyes. "Good. Proud you're sticking with it."

They ate casual—Chris feeding Haru a rice ball bite, laughing when sauce smudged his chin. Students passed, some glancing at the older guy with the college kid, but Haru didn't care. This was their normal.

Chris's friends waved from afar—one girl calling, "Boyfriend lunch service? Jealous!"

Chris blushed faint, waving back. "Yeah, yeah. He's the best."

After eating, Chris had twenty minutes till next lecture. "Walk me to class?"

Haru agreed. Campus stroll: hand brush accidental, talks about Ichigo's new friend Mia, Aiko's latest co-parenting win. Felt light, normal—rare these days with threats lurking quiet.

At the building door, Chris lingered. "Thanks for coming. Made my day."

Haru pulled him behind a pillar, quick kiss stolen. "Anytime. Text when done?"

Chris nodded, hazel eyes soft. "Love you."

"Love you more."

Evening pickup: Ichigo from Aiko, full of Mia tales and zoo plans. Dinner home-cooked, bath splashes, bedtime hugs.

Apartment hushed, Haru and Chris couch—wine poured, lights low.

"Campus surprise was cute," Chris said, snuggling close. "Felt like normal couple stuff."

Haru arm around him. "We are normal. Just our version."

Kiss started soft—gratitude deep. Turned heated quick. Chris straddled lap, lips hungry. Tongues brushed urgent, breaths ragged.

Shirts shed—Chris's tee lifted slow, Haru's yanked. Skin met hot, slim pressing medium. Haru's mouth neck—kissing slow, nipping gentle. Chris arched, gasp breathy, grinding instinctive.

Pants undone impatient, pushed away. Bare, sweat-slick. Bodies aligned—Haru's hand wrapping firm, stroking rhythm rolls. Chris bucked, moans soft, legs tight.

Haru's free hand traced thigh, deepening friction. Pleasure coiled intense—eyes locked, hazel joyful, brown full love. Whispers: "Best surprise," Chris panted; "More coming," Haru husky.

Climax shared—Chris tensing beautiful, release muffled cry. Haru followed, shuddering deep.

Tangled after, breaths evening. Chris smiled lazy. "Campus visit level-up."

Haru chuckled, kissing temple. "Anytime."

Morning routine: pancakes, giggles, drop-offs. Day bright—Haru's surprise lingering sweet.

Little moments building big love.
