Chapter 3 - Forbidden forest

The next day.

Megan and the other witches stood in front of the Forbidden Forest. The forest divided the Werewolves' kingdom from the witches' land. It used to be harmless and peaceful, until the evil queen opened the forbidden portal.

The animals roaming inside the forest were now extremely dangerous. Later, the Werewolves and the vampires arrived.

Agnes stared at the Supreme Beta in a daze. She was completely drowned in the beauty of the blonde-haired man… "Stop looking, danger is always alluring…" Miranda whispered into her ear. Agnes blushed and quickly looked away.

"Those fox-shaped eyes…"

"Agnes?" Miranda rolled her eyes. "Be careful. They are ancient Werewolves. They can hear us. I've cast a barrier, but I'm not sure…"

Agnes glanced at Simon as he nodded at Ophelia and sighed. Stop it, Agnes. He's over two hundred years old and the most powerful Beta of Alpha Ezekiel!

"The protection?" Simon asked.

"Done!" Ophelia replied, then glanced at the dazed Megan.

"Now open the forest…"

Agnes' eyes widened and she quickly raised her hand. "Excuse me, your…"

"Shut up, baby witch." Simon's cold eyes met Agnes' innocent ones.

Ophelia and Peter shot her a warning look. Simon wasn't someone she could mess with, and young witches' spells wouldn't work on him.

Ignoring the warning, Agnes spoke again. "But she's under a spell! Free her!"

Everyone froze. "Did she just disobey Beta Simon?" Klaus laughed.

Simon glanced at Agnes, then frowned at Ophelia. "What's going on, Ophelia? Why is she under a spell?"

"Why did he call our queen by her name?" Agnes whispered to Miranda. "At least Ophelia isn't young either!"

"He's older than her," Miranda replied. "Simon watched her grow."

Agnes' eyes widened. "Just how old is this man?" she murmured. "If someone this scary is only a Beta, how terrifying will the Alpha be?"

"Don't even talk about that," Miranda whispered. "He's the Beta of one of the twins, Alpha Ezekiel. The Supreme Alpha who rules over all Alphas and Werewolves. You don't want to offend him if you value your life."

"Alpha Sebastian must be a good man"

Suddenly, everywhere went silent.

The vampires froze, then one started coughing dramatically. "What's happening…?"

"We didn't set any barriers, and the vampires are paying attention to us."

"Oh…"

"Klaus," Apollo pointed, "between Alpha Sebastian and death, which one would you choose?"

"Hmph! Death!!"

Agnes' eyes widened. "Is he really that scary?"

"Yes. As a lady, you'll be tempted by him because he smiles a lot and acts playful, but that's the problem. Those smiles!" One of the vampires snorted while the rest laughed, though their eyes kept darting toward Simon, who was deep in conversation with the Witch Queen.

"Isn't smiling a good thing?" Agnes asked nervously.

She was worried about Megan. Tonight was the full moon. The Alphas would discover Megan was their mate. Having two mates was one of the rarest things for witches, something that had never happened before. Simon said it was normal among Werewolves, but only chosen women were blessed with such gifts.

"Listen, baby witch…" Apollo raised a brow.

"I'm thirty!" Agnes frowned.

The vampires burst into laughter. "I'm eighty years older than you. Show some respect."

"I'm forty years older than you! Alpha Sebastian's smiles are traps. You won't know if you're his enemy or his friend. He treats both the same. Tell me, how is that not dangerous enough to choose death?"

"Fine. Unspell her. I'll handle her," Simon said, grabbing Megan's arm.

Agnes stared at Simon's long, smooth fingers and swallowed. They were neat, elegant, everything about him was unsettlingly perfect.

Miranda sighed and pulled Agnes back. "There'll be a problem if he senses it. Let me shield you."

"Can he sense my gaze?" Agnes muttered.

Miranda shook her head. "Not your gaze, your thoughts."

"Oh…" Agnes whispered. "I really know nothing about ancient Werewolves."

"These ones are different," Miranda said quietly. "The witches still don't know their secrets. Only Megan does."

Agnes frowned. "What's your other intention?" Miranda swung her wand, opening a portal. "We'll talk later." She pushed Agnes in.

Simon glared at her. "She doesn't want to go."

"Let her be herself," he commanded.

Ophelia sighed and nodded. She touched Megan with her wand.

Megan gasped and looked around in fear. "No! I'm not going!" She tried to run but was pulled back roughly.

She looked at her arm then at Simon raising a brow. "Where do you think you're going, kid?"

He dragged her toward the forest. "Leave me alone!" Megan roared.

A huge force blasted Simon backwards, but he managed to stand. Even the birds fled the trees.

Peter and the witches exchanged looks.

"Anger…" Ophelia whispered. "It can pull out her soul power."

"But power born from anger is dangerous," another witch whispered.

"Athena's soul power came from anger," Selena added.

Megan glared at Simon. "I was forced into this, so take it easy on me."

"Ophelia," Simon growled, "talk to your daughter or watch me snap her neck."

Ophelia sighed and stepped forward. "If you don't wake their Alphas, there will be chaos. The Moon Goddess chose you as their mate. The prophecy says you must wake them. It's time we work together to stop Athena."

"But what do I do once I get there?" Megan asked.

"You put your blood in their mouths," Ophelia said softly. "Then you can disappear if you can't bear it."

Megan nodded at her mother and the witches.

"Sorry I'm late," a man who looked about thirty said as he joined them with others. "I heard my Alpha will be released today."

Simon nodded. "Come here, Caius."

"You're only a year older than me, stop ordering me around," Caius scoffed. "Where's Dracula?"

"He refused to come! " Salis sneered.." he's arrogant!"

Caius glanced at Megan and chuckled. "Weak…"

"The forest is open," Ophelia said. "Megan, don't forget to cut yourself. Your blood will keep the dark creatures away."

Megan stepped into the forest first, followed by Simon and the others. Simon lightly scratched her arm with his nail. Blood oozed immediately.

"Simon, don't kill my daughter!" Ophelia snapped.

"Don't you think giving her to them is a bad idea?" Miranda frowned.

"Those animals…" Peter narrowed his eyes.

"Actually," Ophelia admitted quietly, "Simon is nicer than Ezekiel."

"What?" Miranda frowned. "Is Megan even safe?"
