Chapter 9: Insulted?
What Jason Lewis was doing at that moment left Lionel Lewis and his wife completely stunned.
Graham acted decisively, catching up with Jason Lewis in two steps and knocking him out with a quick strike to the head!
"Jason!" Lionel Lewis's wife, Jennifer Lewis, trembled all over. "Why would you hit my child? Who do you think you are!"
She shouted, trying to snatch Jason Lewis away from Graham's grasp!
Graham frowned, "Your child is possessed by something evil; we must expel that evil from him."
Graham had no choice but to explain.
"Pah! It's you who's possessed! Nonsense, Lionel Lewis! What kind of garbage have you brought in? Can my son really be moved by such things? He's just sick; to say he's possessed by evil is simply insane!"
Jennifer Lewis's face was filled with hatred as she looked at Graham.
Graham frowned again; the influence of that evil was too strong, even affecting Jennifer Lewis's thoughts.
"Mr. Graham..." Lionel Lewis also frowned, as what Graham said indeed sounded absurd.
In today's society, who still believes in such superstitions?
Moreover, Lionel Lewis was a admiral who valued freedom, equality, justice, the rule of law, and was a man of patriotism, professionalism, and kindness.
How could he possibly accept such beliefs?
Graham understood this, which is why he didn't mention it at first. But now, Jennifer Lewis was clearly interfering with his efforts.
Fortunately, the person who had gone out to buy the Jade Guanyin statue returned. Graham immediately took the statue, cut his finger, and let the blood drip onto it.
Then he used the blood-stained statue to touch Jason Lewis's forehead.
In an instant, Jason Lewis's body went limp, and the evil was expelled!
The moment Graham saw the dark shadow emerge, he injected spiritual energy into the silver needle in his hand and shot it into the air!
Jennifer Lewis and Lionel Lewis watched in shock as the needle seemed to pierce something in the air, and then a black figure appeared on the ground!
However, that figure disappeared in the blink of an eye!
At that moment, Graham finally breathed a sigh of relief; at least the evil had been eliminated. Now, all that was left to do was to figure out what had been happening to the Lewis family.
He breathed a sigh of relief, but Lionel Lewis and Jennifer Lewis were still in shock.
They were certain they hadn't seen a ghostly figure appear out of nowhere; it was definitely not a human!
Jennifer Lewis was terrified and dared not speak, just holding Jason Lewis and shaking all over on the bed.
Seeing this, Graham sighed, "Don't worry, Secretary Lionel. Your wife's mind was disturbed by that evil. As soon as I deal with the situation at your home, she will recover."
Lionel Lewis nodded, trying to control his emotions. They followed Graham around the yard.
But strangely, despite checking everywhere, Graham found nothing unusual. Then he remembered the oddity at the entrance when they first entered the house.
He walked over to the entrance and asked, "Secretary Lionel, have you received any special visitors recently?"
Lionel Lewis had regained his composure; after all, he was someone who had worked hard in society and had a much stronger psychological resilience than most people.
"Special visitors?" Lionel Lewis thought for a moment. "No."
Graham wondered, "By special, I mean someone who didn't suit your standards or someone you refused to meet."
Lionel Lewis suddenly remembered, "Oh right. A year ago, when I first arrived in Yang City, the deputy admiral came to see me. He wanted me to join him, but I refused."
Graham nodded; it seemed likely that the problem stemmed from that deputy admiral.
However, without evidence, he wouldn't make a hasty conclusion.
"Where was he exactly when he left?" Graham asked again.
"He? I remember clearly. I didn't even let him in the door, so we talked through the door. He was standing right there," Lionel Lewis said, pointing to the wall by the door.
Graham was speechless; Lionel Lewis was indeed very harsh.
Not even letting someone in the door was understandable; no wonder the deputy admiral held a grudge.
But just then, Graham noticed something shiny at the base of the wall.
He picked it up—it was a stone, or more precisely, a piece of jade.
It was high-quality jade, but strangely, it was not cold; instead, it was scorching hot, as if it had been burned.
There was also a thick cloud of black smoke on the jade, a hundred times more intense than the black smoke from the Yuanqinghua porcelain.
Graham squeezed the jade with all his strength and crushed it. "That should do."
"'That should do?'" Lionel Lewis asked, not understanding.
Graham nodded. "Feel your body, and you'll know."
Lionel Lewis moved his neck and suddenly realized that the heaviness in his body was gone, and the pain and dizziness had disappeared.
He quickly returned to the room and saw Jennifer Lewis standing up, rubbing her head, her usual gentle demeanor restored.
"This… I'm better?" she asked, looking at Lionel Lewis in disbelief. "My head doesn't hurt at all."
"It's a miracle…" Lionel Lewis swallowed and was about to kneel in gratitude to Graham.
Graham stopped him, "No need, no need! A doctor's duty is to help others. I just did my job."
Lionel Lewis understood and couldn't help but admire Graham; no other doctor could have managed such a situation.
"Then the generous reward we discussed earlier must be given," Lionel Lewis said with a laugh, showing even more respect for Graham.
"How about this: I'll pay you as my sister suggested, and I'll also arrange for you to open a clinic. What do you think?"
A clinic?
Graham was taken aback; he hadn't considered becoming a permanent doctor.
However, the past two days had made him enjoy the feeling of helping others.
"Okay."
If he could help people, then all his skills wouldn't have been in vain. Even if he found his parents, they would surely be proud of him.
After accepting Lionel Lewis's gratitude, Graham was about to leave when Lionel suddenly remembered something.
"Oh right, my sister asked me to give you something," he said. "I almost forgot."
"The medicine you used to treat her rash—do you still have some? She wants to buy a large quantity and is willing to pay a good price."
Graham was puzzled. The medicine for the rash?
"I do have some. How much do you need?"
"Let her contact you; I'll give you my number," Lionel said, deciding it would be better for Lydia to handle the details.
Graham agreed and declined the driver's offer to accompany him home. It was already dark; the distance from Lionel Lewis's house to the Cavendish family's residence wasn't far, and Graham had walked there before.
He had once thought he would live a normal life like everyone else, go to school, enter society, and build a career.
But with the disappearance of his parents and the ten years of silence, he never got to attend university as he'd dreamed; instead, he endured criticism and bullying for four years.
It was only by joining the Cavendish family that he saw a glimmer of hope again.
As he wandered through the streets, he heard uneven footsteps from behind.
Suddenly, he became alert and stopped in his tracks.
"Who is there?"
He turned around and asked, "Come out!"
"Oh, you're quite vigilant, but what's the use?" A figure emerged from the shadows, its face filled with hatred for Graham.
"Graham, we meet again. This time, I'll send you to hell!"
Graham's eyes lit up as he recognized his opponent. "So it's you."
It was none other than Lionel, the very person who had always wanted Graham's death.
"That's right, it's me. It seems you knew this day would come; you have some sense of self-awareness. Well, then, you don't have to wait for me to act. Just cut off your own hands, and today's troubles will be over."
Lionel crossed his arms, looking at Graham as if he were just an object.
He didn't realize that Graham was no longer the same person; he didn't know that Graham particularly liked Lionel Lewis.
If he had known, he probably wouldn't have come.
But just then, Graham noticed something shiny at the base of the wall and picked it up.
It was a stone, or more precisely, jade.
It was fine-quality jade, but strangely, it was hot to the touch, as if it had been burned.
There was also a thick cloud of black smoke on it, a hundred times more intense than the black smoke from the Yuanqinghua porcelain!
Graham crushed the jade with all his strength. "That should do."
"'That should do?'" Lionel asked, still confused.
Graham nodded. "Feel your body, and you'll understand."
Lionel moved his neck and realized that the heaviness and discomfort had gone. He went back to his room and saw Jennifer Lewis standing up, rubbing her head, her usual gentle self restored.
"This… I'm better?" she asked, looking at Lionel in disbelief. "My head doesn't hurt at all."

Today, he had indeed learned something new.
"The generous reward we discussed earlier must be paid," Lionel said with a laugh, showing even more appreciation for Graham.
"Alright, I'll pay you as my sister suggested. Additionally, I'll arrange for you to open a clinic. What do you think?"

Graham agreed and declined the driver's offer to escort him home. It was already dark, and the route from Lionel Lewis's house to the Cavendish family's residence was familiar to him.
He had once thought he would live a normal life, just like everyone else.
But with the disappearance of his parents and the ten years of silence, he never got the chance to attend university; instead, he endured criticism and bullying.
It was only by joining the Cavendish family that he saw a glimmer of hope again.
As he walked, he entered a small alley and heard uneven footsteps behind him.
Suddenly, he became alert and stopped in his tracks.
"Who is there?"
He turned around and asked, "Come out!"
"Ooh, you're quite cautious, but what's the use?" A figure emerged from the shadows, its face filled with hatred for Graham.

Lionel crossed his arms, looking at Graham as if he were a mere plaything.
He didn't realize that Graham was no longer the same person; he didn't know that Graham particularly liked Lionel Lewis.
If he had known, he probably wouldn't have come.
"Cutting off my hands? That's not going to happen," Graham said. "But cutting off yours is possible." He shook his head. "Lionel, I didn't act against you at the Cavendish family's house because I wasn't afraid of you—I just didn't want the hassle."
Lionel laughed. "Weakling that you are. Idiots only dream of such things. Since you don't want to do it yourself, then fine."
"Guys, whoever cuts off his hands first gets ten thousand dollars from me!"
As soon as Lionel finished speaking, more than a dozen people rushed out from the shadows!
Graham's face turned dark; he hadn't expected Lionel to really attack him. Well, since that was the case, he wouldn't dodge.
The attackers were just a bunch of thugs, armed with sticks but lacking any strategy.
Graham stepped forward and quickly took care of them with a few kicks, knocking them all to the ground.
Lionel, who had been laughing coldly, suddenly became pale.
"How… how could you do that?"
Wasn't Graham supposed to be weak and useless?
How could everything be over so quickly?
Realizing what had happened, Lionel turned and ran away in panic.
"Don't come here!"
Graham didn't pursue him but just watched Lionel in disbelief.
Later, he shook his head and headed home. To him, Lionel was just a passerby in his life; he didn't care about him.
What interested him now was the clinic that Lionel Lewis had offered him.
When he got home, the lights on the first floor were off. He went upstairs, took off his clothes, and decided to take a shower after exercising.
Just as he entered the bathroom, Selina also came out, wrapping in a towel.
They collided at the door.
"Graham! Who gave you permission to take off your clothes here? Get out and sleep on the sofa!" Selina said, her face red with anger, and she slammed the door.
Graham frowned, not understanding her anger. Thinking it was unwise to argue with a woman, he put on his clothes and headed to the main bathroom.
But then, Selina's phone on the bed rang.
He looked at the display: "Dear Husband."
Huh?
Was he… being cheated on?
